Just Tonks Please

Alright you little swots. For those who don't know me, I'm Auror Tonks and I work for the Department of Magical Defense. Now let me give you a rundown of what I know so far. I'm sure they'll kill me for even giving this much away, but you have a right to know:

1) Eight people were killed and about thirty-five were injured, some badly and are still in the hospital. I'm not going to lie, that's a big number. The attack happened when people were coming in the pick up their family and leave, so I'm still not sure if it was a target of opportunity or if they really planned it that way.

2) From surveying the damage, it's quite clear one person was responsible for the attack. There was a level of ground in the center of the destruction that was untouched. If one person was attacked, it leaves two possibilities of who did it, and one of them works and lives in Hogwarts.

3) So then, that means you can stop looking around your shoulder for Death Eaters who seem to be on a rampage. That's our job, and I still think we're doing a good job containing them. This one though...he's going to be a little trickier. That leaves it to us.

4) The attack happened an entire country over from Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, and even if it happened 2 seconds away from the gates, I'd still say you're safe and sound in Hogwarts. Do you know why people keep saying you're safe in Hogwarts? It's not because of all the wards in the walls or on the grounds, it's not because of the comprehensive creatures you have living in the woods, or the amount of ghosts or secret passages or things you don't even know about, and it's not because your Proffesors there are some of the most talented wizards in Scotland, Ireland and England. It's because of Dumbledore! He fears him, he's always have!

I know you're worried about your friends and family ack home. All I can say is that we're out and about in full force, and we'll do the best that we can. But we can't be everywhere at once. A formal statement will be coming from the Ministry any day now, but I can tell you what he says. He says we're in a war time. That doesn't mean to hid under your beds and wait for the end, you can't do that. That would be running away. But it does mean that you might have to prepare yourself for the worst to come, and prepare to endure it.

You're strong, you're our future, you can do it.

Well I have to say, it's great to be off...er...that particular duty again. I sure hope Dumbledore knows what he's doing though.

And I hope Tom's being taken care of. I don't know. He's still a big concern out there, and his mental health isn't all what it should be. Hopefully Dumbledore's got the right people looking after him. And extra security too, thanks Snape. >.>

I've been cooped up so long I sort of forgot what else was going on? I think Kingsley's investigating the death of a Professor or somebody. So far from what I've heard it looks like a suicide. Poor chap.

Hope the students are keeping well despite all this? I think I remember someone wanted to talk to me....nope, it's gone. Well whatever, can't help that!

And now I've got to go shopping to replace all the cutlery and well...everything that I broke during my house arrest!

I really can't take much more of this. I'm 22 years old, I'm not bloody ready to be taking care of kids like this.

If it isn't the constant questions, it's the eerie silence. I'm just happy he's quit wrecking my flat! But honestly, I'm going stir-crazy here.

Guess I shouldn't be complaining, it's pretty unsightly of an Auror to whine. Blech.

I see that he's writing in that book of his. Sorry, but I thought it'd be too cruel if I didn't let him have it. But I did tell him not to talk about me or this place at all in his writing. I hope he'll do at least that.

Ah, back to preparing supper. Buh-bye.

I've been on the trail of some you-know-who's that've been hiding for a good few weeks now. They're very very good at hiding. 'little annoying if you ask me.

Those Death Eaters are a tough bunch to find. 'cording to the list it's just Mulciber and that woman that are out and about, along with Pettigrew and...well him. Very good at hiding, these rats.

Not quite sure what to make of this Grindelwald character. Must remember to speak to Albus about that.

Ah well. Like Moody would say, "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!", or something like that.
