June 18: Got up early and went out on the two skiffs to Pigeon Cay. Went snorkelling around the little bay there. Saw an octopus hiding in a crevice. After Pigeon Cay, we went to a patch reef and looked around. Saw another octopus, it was swimming so me and Laura followed it. It turned bright yellow and then the same color as the ocean floor and hid. Back to the field station for dinner and AJ's birthday party. Then to bed.
June 19: Took the pontoon and the skiff that always breaks down to Saddleback Cay. We split into 2 groups, I was in the group that stayed on Saddleback all morning and would theoretically go snorkelling at Rat Cay in the afternoon. So I stayed at Saddleback and hunted for sand dollars. Found plenty, got enough for me and for a couple of girls that just didn't like me and were talking about me and Laura behind our backs. :( But then the other group came back and we ate lunch. After lunch this gigantic storm blew in! There was so much lightening, poor AJ was scared so I sang to him. Eventually one of the staff members that was from the island drove up in the skiff that did work wearing his snorkelling mask so that he could see. We took the boats back to the station, changed into dry clothes, and hung out in the lodge drinking hot chocolate. Not much else about that day, everyone stayed in the lodge and caught up on their journals.
June 20: Took the schoolbus to the Androsia Factory. Looked at how they make the material. Bought a wrap skirt and a poster so that was really cool. After that we went to Lighthouse Point and looked around. Then we were supposed to go to a beach for lunch, but the road was flooded out so we went to the beach in a little bay and ate lunch. After that we were going to go explore the ecosystem of a cactus coppice, but it was all flooded with the bright red acidic water and we couldn't go. So we just went to Churches Bluehole and had to jump 15 ft to get in. I was scared, especially after Laura went to throw her PFD (personal floatation device) into the water and it landed in the poisonwood. Then we went and got ice cream, went back to the field station, and hung out til bedtime.

June 15: 7:00 a.m. at the jet center. By now we've learned enough about each other to know that whenever we stop somewhere for 2 seconds Josh Wagner will be asleep. Finally, I'm on the plane (if you can call it that). It seats about 10 people. I sat on the wing and watched the propeller the whole time to make sure it didn't stop. :) About halfway to Andros we ran into a lot of turbulence. It was scary. Then we saw the island. Love at first sight. Arrived and went through customs, then Laura Mobley and I were rushed to a taxi and rushed off first to Forfar. Got to Forfar and settled into Cabin 3 (the haunted cabin) with Laura Mobley, Valerie Schenck, and Rebecca Taylor on my side and Latoya Wilson, Jessica Bolton, Lacie Bostic, and Emily Davis on the other side.
June 16: Staff at Forfar had a lot to do, so we sat around Forfar and got accustomed. Went for a botany walk and learned what poisonwood is (very important information), and then snorkelled around a creek (which was easy after the 3 ft. swells at Key Largo). Went back to Forfar and went to sleep.
June 17: Got up early, dressed up, and everyone from the Edgewood group but three went to the local Pentecostal Church (it was optional to go, but it was a really cool cultural experience). Let me just say, that after hearing their hymns, ours just seem like dirges. After church we ate lunch at Forfar and then went out on the open bed truck to a nearby beach. We snorkelled from the beach out to a shipwreck nearby. It was really cool. From there we kept swimming out to a nearby patch reef and then back across the shipwreck to the beach. Back to Forfar and bed.

The news in the background |
] |
Well, here's a recap of my trip (shortened as much as possible)...
June 12: 7 a.m. meet at the high school. Take the bus to Cincinnati airport and go through all the security crap. Fly to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Take a couple rented vans to La Quinta hotel in Ft. Lauderdale and settle in with Valerie Schenck, Rebecca Taylor, and Emily Amber Davis
June 13: Rain, lots of rain. Get up and go to Tavernier Dive Center in Key Largo (a 2 1/2 hour drive) to take a dive in the nearby patch reef. Conditions were too hard, so we drove another two hours to Bille's Swamp Safari on the Seminole Reservation in the Everglades. Airboat rides and buggy tours. Back to the hotel and sleep.
June 14: Went to Wild Lyle's Airboat Rides and took an hour long guided tour of the Everglades. Pretty cool. Then drove to Tavernier Dive Center again to try and dive. They had 3 ft. swells, but we were able to do the dive for about an hour. Got back onto the boat to return to the dock and quite a few people puked. Ewww. Not me though, so that was a good sign. Went back to the hotel and packed.

Yes, that is the name that AyeJay recognizes me by. Whoot! Anyways, went to Newport Aquarium today and the I-max theatre. That was cool. Jeremy and I were told that we need to "be more of the group" and not be around each other so much, even though all we do is talk to each other cause we're most comfortable talking to each other. Blah. So instead, I went and was antisocial with Laura Mobley and Rochelle Ridell, and he was antisocial with Donnie.
Umm, leave tomorrow, sorry guys. I'll be gone ten days. Pray for my flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Andros Island, it's on some little prop plane that can only carry about four of us at a time. Hmmm...
Well, I'm all packed and ready to go for ten days of fun and sun and work. Total weight of luggage and carry-on: 25 lbs. Whoot! I can pack 15 lbs more stuff. I don't see how people can exceed that limit!
Peace, Love, and Happiness!

That's about it. On the phone right now, so I'll post more later!
Bye!

Still a little sleepy, considering the fact that I didn't get home 'til seven this morning! Oh well. Talking to the ever-beautiful Cindy Braden right now. Yippie!!!
Umm, not much to say yet. Have to babysit tonight, the only problem is that the family doesn't know exactly what time yet... Need to get in bed earlier tonight though... Oh well!

Awake, sort of. Took a shower (finally) and hanging out here. Read all of Randy's comments to me, geez, no wonder it said she acts 15. He he he. Talked to Jacob Hampton on the phone for a bit. He's cool.
Lock-in at the church tonight! Wahoo! 10 P.M. 'til 7 A.M. you guys'd better be there! If you aren't, I'll come get you and throttle you (except Randy, she's exempt cause she's too old, even though she doesn't act like it!).
That's pretty much it. Nothing to do today except laundry and cross-stitching. Some Dark Lord Sith, huh? Oh well! Cheerio!

:: how jedi are you? ::
Bwah ha ha ha! For those of you not yet fully realizing my evil-ness, I am a Dark Lord Sith! Randy always knew. Oh well. Not much to say. Went to Wal-mart, Pizza Hut, and Hobby Lobby with Jeremy. That was awesome. Not much else to say. Ready to leave! Wahoo! Bye!
Peace, Love, and Happiness!!!

Morning! |
[06 Jun 2002|09:49am] |
Yeah, I'm awake (surprise!). Feeling much much better (been feeling a little sick the last few days for those of you that didn't know). Just got out of the shower, my hair is soaked. Wearing a new collared tank top I got. Didn't realize it was spandex when I bought it, but hey, it looks alright. Dunno, I'll have to ask for someone else's opinion, I'll see Jeremy in a bit, but his doesn't count. He always says I look good. We'll see what he says when I get my wisdomless teeth taken out and I'm all swollen and bloody!
Planning on going to Wal-mart in an hour. Gotta buy some zinc oxide and a mesh bag for the Bahamas. Might look into some other things as well, hmmm, maybe pretty myself up while I'm still here and no one can see me... bwah ha ha ha!
Anyways, I've got to get going and dry my hair before it completely soaks the back of my shirt! Bye!
Peace, Love, and Happiness

Mirror mirror |
[05 Jun 2002|03:38pm] |
I know I just posted, but I was sitting here thinking...
If my life were a mirror, what would I see? Would I look into it and see all the places where I've let people down? Would I stare into something so worthless that it might as well be a black hole? Would I see something beautiful?
If my life were a mirror, would I want to look back? Would I want to see the people I've lost? Would I want to go back to the previous choices I've made and change a single one? Would going back change the person I am? Would I see the times I've failed, remember the times I've lost control, relive the times I had no hope?
If my life were a mirror, if I always looked back on the past, would I have any goals?
Don't dwell on the past.
Oh yeah, and my dad keeps trying to discourage me from being a doctor. Dangit, that's what I want to do! Money isn't that important to me. Why don't older people ever understand that? Sometimes I wish he'd just support me, it's not like I ever discouraged him from doing anything. Hmmm, maybe I should stop thinking for a while. Trading Spaces is almost on, so I'm gonna go. Bye bye!
Oh yeah, and don't worry about me, I'm fine. I was just wondering where I would be right now if I went back in time and changed just one random choice I've made somewhere in the past...
Peace, Love, and Happiness

[05 Jun 2002|03:22pm] |
Yay, no more skool for me! I'm a senior. In the immortal words of Chris Farley, "La-de-frickin-da!" He he he.
Got a picture with Juice and Mrs. McCloskey of the three of us doing the "blood" gang symbol. :) That was funny. I wish she was staying next year, she's really cool. She said she'd come back for my graduation though, so that was a mondo plus.
One week 'til I'm adios! I really can't wait. Oh yeah, and if you really want to see how smart I am, say "Owah tana siam" really fast three times and think about it. Right there is the meaning of life...
Ummm, keep in touch with me over the summer, please!!! Even though I'm a big loserface and I won't be here for much, and when I am here I'll be loaded up with painkillers. Minor details, but hey call (988-9731) and we'll catch up or just shoot the excrement (so to speak) or whatever. See ya!

Yeah, figured that might get someone's attention. He he he. Anyways, went to the band cookout. It was fun. Umm... put ice down a lot of peoples' backs. Then they ganged up on me. :( Got to see Jeremy, yay!!! :)
That's pretty much it, except that it kind of sucks that I'm a butt, oh well, I guess everyone else always knew... Bye bye guys!

Which Peanuts Character Are You Quiz
So anyways, took my anatomy and physiology exam this morning, rather have gotten the runs than take that! Especially since the copier was broken and it took an extra half hour to get my stinky test. Actually, it wasn't that bad, I just like to make a big deal out of things. He he he.
Ummm... Shawn and Erin made field commanders! Congratulations to both of you! Time to start lifting weights and to get sick and tired of the music and the eighth graders/freshmen! Wahoo!
Ummm... Band cookout is tonight. It's starting to clear up outside so that's a really good thing!
I LEAVE NEXT WEDNESDAY FOR THE BAHAMAS! YEAH BABY! Oh yeah, and I got an email today from the crush.com or whatever it is saying that 3 people have crushes on me. Those poor souls... he he he.
Leaving now, oh yeah, and I love you Jeremy! Have a better day dear! It's all okay, don't worry, there's always hope, and I'm always there for you to take care of you or take you places if you need to go there! So brighten up and put on that handsome smile! He he he! :)
Peace, Love, and Happiness!

Yeah, I'm feeling a little sick. That's okay though.
Not much to say today. Went shopping. Got 3 pairs of little boys shorts. I apparently wear a 16 in boys. Sweet, I think. Got a couple shirts and a swimsuit, finally. That's all good.
Really miss my Jeremy right now. Haven't really talked to him all day. Oh well. Graduation tomorrow, I get to hold a door closed. Whoopie! Anyways, that's about it.

Brr, am I sensing dissent....? |
[30 May 2002|03:12pm] |
Te he he, gave Shawn Scott the idea to sign up for field commander. Upset a lot of people, but despite whatever they have against him, I know that Shawn is a good person and I support him. He's not who you think he is. He has a very commanding personality and is definately suited for leadership. Leaders are to be respected, it doesn't matter if you like them or not. So to all the people saying that if Shawn makes it as field commander they'll drop out, you're just being stupid and selfish. Hylton's not the one picking anyways. If Shawn wins, it's because he's the most qualified....
Anyways, now that that's over with. Supposed to film the German final tonight. Don't really feel too excited about it. Actually, I feel really sick and sinusy. Meh.
Oh yeah! I'm going to go buy myself some boys pants tomorrow that zip off, so that I can buy pants that are comfortable and comfy shorts at the same time. Watch me cheat the system and get pockets that work! (Girls' pants are too tight for the pockets to work, grrr)
Oh yeah, and there was a big dissent about the sudden change in the dress code today. No one was informed about it, but they just sent a bunch of people to ISS and didn't allow them to call home. Too bad they were within the established dress code limitations... New rules without committee approval? At Edgewood? Never!...
That's about it.
Peace, Love, and Happiness

Meh... |
[25 May 2002|04:37pm] |
Tired, tired, tired. Went to bed around midnight (sorry guys, I don't stay up all night like the rest of you, ten's my bediebye time). Got up at 10:30, got showered dressed and put on my ever-trustworthy hat and went off to work. Cleaned the house for two hours, had more dust in my pores than I thought possible.
Afterwards, came home and picked up Nick. We went and got a very premium car wash at Towne Bank thanks to Trenton First Baptist's Youth Group (minus Nick and myself). Then headed over to the mall for Nick to get a haircut.
Nick bought some gold (yes, it was actually called "bling bling gold") hair gel and it looks pretty good. I bought a sparkly candle (geez, I'm such a girl sometimes). But since I'm getting a little low on cash, I just left it at that.
No plans for this evening except clean and do laundry. Trimmed the hedges earlier, actually broke a sweat (it's pretty hot outside). Jeremy went to see Spiderman with his aunt. Boring day. Oh well, Monday will be fun. Plans with Jeremy (only know that I HAVE plans, I have no idea what we intend to do, maybe putt-putt? Anyone have any good ideas?). Also plan to tape the entirety of the Trading Spaces marathon on TLC Monday starting at noon. :) My favorite show.
Leaving now because I have stooped once again to rambling. I've been hanging out with Randy far too much...
Peace, Love, and Happiness

*Yawn* Oh! Hello, world, thought I'd fallen off the edge... |
[22 May 2002|05:22pm] |
Yes, I'm still alive over here and all is well. Very well in fact! Hmmm, need to catch up, it's definately been a while. Back with Jeremy, which is a wonderful thing because he is a wonderful person! We went to prom on Saturday and I had so so much fun. Ate at the Manchester, he had a hamburger and I had a club sandwich, yes we're SO cultured...
Lately I've been busy planning my summer out. So far it looks like this...
June 12-22 Bahamas!!! Ten days of snorkeling and sun for a grade!!!
June 24 Senior pictures. Taking Jeremy and Wicket! :)
July 4-14 Myrtle Beach! The last family vacation. :(
July 17 Jeremy's birthday and my surgery. Getting the wisdomless teeth taken out. Also have a nice cyst growing on one of them, gotta send that to OSU for a biopsy...
July ? Visit to OSU to get ready for all the college crap.
End of July-August Marching band!!!
That's about it. So please don't knock me up for summer plans cause I'm a little full right now. Also got to make some major Randy time right now, got to go save my poor little pottery. I think she's currently holding it hostage. Oh well! Got to go work on some music for a lady singing at my church. I'm a full-fledged accompanist now!
Peace, Love, and Happiness!
