Only in Winnipeg can you have a blizzard with "no additional accumulation." It just blows around the snow you already have, so that you have to shovel the same snow again.

This was fun! I played around with my face for a while. Some of the "art" ones are kinda dumb, but this one seemed convincing:

Wabbit has passed away.
If there's a Rainbow Bridge for furs, I'm sure Wabbit will be waiting for us.

I can thank my dad for my crunchy knees.
Thanks, Daddy! :D
I went to crouch down at the grocery store tonight... And seconds later I didn't think I was getting back up. My right knee had made a sickening clicking crunch noice, and it hurt. A lot. It still does when I twist it slightly, which I tend to do when I'm walking.
Hopefully it'll feel better tomorrow.

It's been a month since her operation, so I decided that I'd start with the next step of Jaws' oral care today.
The vet had given us an antiseptic mouthwash for her. He said that a lot of people water it down before giving it to their cats (since it is rather pricey), but I wanted to try a full dose first. The instructions said to squirt the stuff into one side of the mouth, and massage the gums for 30 seconds to two minutes. They we were to repeat on the other side. I figured Jaws wouldn't put up with any gum massaging (and the vet hadn't mentioned that) so I was just going to squirt it in.
So, with plonq holding her, I pried her mouth open and squirted just a little bit of this stuff in - certainly not the 2-4 ml it called for. Jaws reacted immedaitely. She started squirming. Then she started spitting this stuff back at me, on plonq, on the floor... So Plonq put her down. She immediately ran off into the next room.
I followed her, and found her cowering under the Christmas tree. As I watched, foam started pouring out of her mouth. She drooled a long string of it onto the train track around the tree (which was unplugged, fortunately) and then ran into the center of the room to deposit another puddle of foam there.
I have no idea where she is now; she buggered off someplace and is probably cursing us with all those bad words cats know. I think I'm going to water down the mouthwash before I try that again.

The "worst of" of Harry Potter (and miscellaneous other) fanfics.
A phoenix came and said "muahahahahhahaha it is time for phoenixes to turn bad and be annoying. Fawkes by brother come help me destroy the world!!!!" So Ginny was like OMG and Fawkes came and said "muahahaha it is time to destroy the world." So Ginny was all like OMG!!!
I almost died laughing.

Thefted from a whole bunch of people. Take the first sentence from the first post of each month in 2004, and post it. I'm fudging the first post in some cases, since sometimes it's just a link.

I suppose that it says something about the weather when you park in a covered lot, and your car is still covered in snow when you go to leave. That damn rodent saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter. Man, I slept like crap last night. plonq 's car has been giving us some trouble over the past few months; it's about 11 years old and has about a zillion miles on it. I remembered. Did you? So, when I got my access to the lab ray ages ago, the map pieces were going for about 4K - 5K apiece. So, amarafox posted some lyrics. We went out to Bird's Hill again today - I'm starting to get addicted to it. Just sitting, relaxing, and enjoying. In the mornings at work, I listen to CBC Radio 2's Music and Company. I can hear the wind outside. Well, I did my part, at least. I hate gossip, especially since most of it tends to be unsubstantiated rumors. ...and if there is one thing that furs know how to do, it's gossip.

Tonight plonq scored some tickets to a Moose game, so we went. I was especially interested in going, since they were playing the Cleveland Barons.
^.^
My parents used to take me to Barons games. I had a knitted Barons hat (toque). Of course, it was a different team them, but whatever. It was cool, considering the past/present link.
(It was funny - there were these kids in our section who were loud and obnoxious, but also rather funny. They were shouting stuff at the other team, and the worst insult they could come up with was, "Go back to Cleveland, you... Clevelanders!" Hee.)
After the game, I knew it was a cold walk back to the car, so I wrapped my scarf around my face. When I stepped outside, I took a breath... And my breath was directed up towards my glasses, which instantly fogged over.
Now, this is my first winter wearing glasses full time in Winnipeg. I should have anticipated what happened next, but I didn't.
I lowered the scarf and lifted my head so that my glasses could unfog, and so I could see where I was going. As soon as I did that, though, the steam on my glasses froze. So instead of having foggy glasses, I had iced-over glasses, with a block to walk in the dark, over bumpy, poorly cleared sidewalks and up a dark alley. Fortunately, plonq was able to guide me to the car.
So. Mental note. Whatever you do, don't let your glasses fog up when you're outside in the winter.

Last year, I refused to make resolutions. I'm dancing along that same path this year, barring the yearly resolution to "take the Christmas tree down sometime before next Christmas." (Actually, the tree will probably be down extremely "early" this year, since I'm dying to run our Roomba in there. ^.^)
However, there is one thing that I'd like to do this year, and hopefully soon. I have the novel I wrote for Nanowrimo 2001 languishing on my harddrive. I think I'll clean it up and post it around a bit, chapter by chapter. It's a rankly amatuer novel, but I think some people might enjoy reading it.
But, today has to come first. Today I resolve to:
*read the paper *do laundry *shovel (again! 3 more inches!)

We're heading out in a little while for dronon's place, for some movies and games and snacks and things. I'm taking my knitting (a small, new project - maybe I'll even finish it tonight!) and plonq has some games he's taking along.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's. I'll be back next year (hah!), possibly with some minor resolutions.
