I got off my butt today and fixed a bunch of issues on maxwellsilver. Its about time. Its crappy weather here today, just rain all day. I work in a wierd manner, I tend to wait to do things for a long time then I'll do it really fast and get it done the right way in one shot. Work was ok because they sent me home early. I was out in the parking lot and since it was raining no one was coming to the beach. We ended up playing cards(my new game of choice is speed). Its a good thing everyone was bored today because if we got caught playing card that would of been bad. I need a nice background for my laptop does anyone have any suggestions? It needs to be 1600x1200Current Mood: ![](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/http/web.archive.org/web/20040730103033im_/http:/=2fstat.livejournal.com/img/mood/moonsis/working.gif) accomplished Surrounding Noise: The Charlatans UK - Weirdo

Post church service a large group of people from the project made our way in to Boston to see the wicked sweet fireworks. We drove in four cars to Newburyport, Mass. to take the T commuter rail in to North Station. My group made our way to the train station way early so we were there playing hotseat for about 2 hours before everyone else showed up for the 12:48 train in. So we arrived in boston around 1:40 and made on to Quincy market to get food since we couldn't get our factions to unite or balance to go to Hard Rock and Cheers. We had about 3 people who wanted to go to Hard Rock(and absolutely didn't want to go to cheers) and the rest wanted Cheers. Andrea and I went to Zuma Tex-Mex for some food, I got a Taco Salad and she got a combo platter with taco's and enchiladas. After that we wandered around stopping in random stores out of curiousity and eventually decided to buy hoodies, we heard from someone in the group that there were cheap hoodies by the water so we found that store and bought 2 hoodies for $25. Then we asked a cop how to get the fireworks and made our 15 minute walk over to them. The coastline was completely covered with people so we had to split up in to 2 groups to find spots to spread out and sit. After sitting around forever the Boston Pops played and some other people. Finally at 10:30 or so the fireworks started. Best fireworks show ever. period. It was definately worth what happens next. The trains were supposed to hold up for 30 minutes or so after the fireworks were over(at 11) but of course we didn't get back to the station till about 11:50 because thats what happens when you try to make half a million people try to cross a few 15 foot wide bridges to get home. Total stinkin' chaos of people. There was this one family(of like 20) that just was a train and pushed through the croud, with children, and a baby carriage. I was seriously impressed and annoyed. So we got a little lost on the way back to the station we got lost since none of us had been to Boston before and I'm sure that we would of missed the train even if we were on time by the 30 minute hold up because I doubt that they actually held the train. Either way, we first decided we'd just camp out at the station and take the first one home. Then we realized that the parking we were in was not overnight so our cars *could* get towed. I tried to find cops to try and get some sort of permission to park there over the night but of course I couldn't find any. Eventually I just called them and asked and was told they were not going to tow cars. Then we talked about taking a shuttle from the airport home but that was really expensive. Then much fighting and crankyness ensued. I think was was pretty good the whole time. I just tried to get stuff done so we could get home. Either way at around 2:00 AM the cops(the ones we really wanted to find about 45 minute before) told us to get out of the station. Our minds were made up(for the most part) that we would just take cabs back to Newburyport and get our cars. I stopped a cab driver outside and asked him how much it would be to Newburyport, he told me 91$ and we went for it. We arranged 3 cabs and got our money together and made our way home. All said and done I was back home at around 3:30 or so and crashed in to my bed. Side Story: Crystal: Crystal is a lady we ran in to in the train station who was also stranded there. Some of the girls in our group talked to her and she seemed to be pretty nice. Unfortunately she had no money for a taxi when the station kicked us. She followed along with us and ultimately we decided we would pay for her cab to where ever she needed to go. It turned out to be something around 75$ so we put that together, got her a cab and sent her on her way with a Knowing God Personally booklet. I think we did the right thing there. She definately did not have the money to pay for it. I overheard that she was recently fired from her job. Needless to say this Boston trip was super expensive. I dropped over $100 between the taxi, crystal's taxi, food, and hoodies. It was worth it. End of story for now. More to come in a bit maybe.Surrounding Noise: Jars Of Clay - The Eleventh Hour

Sweetness. So I lost finacial aid from the honors college because I suck at school but this year I am poor enough that the state is giving me some money finally. God provides yet again. It seems that I am getting a little more from the state than the honors college ever gave me. |

Whee! After a mere day of my perl script hammering away at the gmail machine I finally got the magic 1337 number. I did about 70000+ page loads to accomplish it but I am going to go for it again now to see if I can score a second invite for a certian special girl I know ;-). In other news I was sent home early today after only 2 hours because it was so light at work today. |

Well, lets see. Today... I went to church this morning. I went to the service and heard a pretty good message from Ezekiel 18 and then during second service I camped out in the Senior High room to see where I can get involved and serve. The senior high was pretty scarce, the man running it said it was a light week because of the time changes. Either way it was ok, it reminded me of PAC back in the old building when we had the couch room(I do miss those days). I need to call the youth pastor this week and connect with him to see what I can do. I don't know how I feel about my involvement yet it really did not feel like there was room/a desire for me to be involved in the Jr./Sr. programs there. Oy vey I just remember I have a phone conference tomorrow morning at 7AM for some consulting work. Yuck I hate early mornings. This past afternoon Andrea and myself went on a little adventure to go check out this big rock we have seen driving on Rt. 286. I decided I wanted to get on top of it and take some pictures. The problem was there were lots of little 5-10ft streams in between the road and the rock. I'm sure I looked pretty silly from the road but I jumped my way over to the rock and got on top. Unfortunately my shoes were the casualty of the day, I stepping in this big mud hole and it totally absorbed my left shoe and removed it from my foot. I had to really look carefully to find it when I realized what just happened. I posted some good pictures from the trip including a shot of my muddy leg. On to yesterday. We did outreach in the afternoon. The plan for the day was to do surveys with random people to start spiritual conversations. I didn't do to well, I stuck out with this one kid who didnt really wanna talk to me. Then Heather and myself went and talked to this guy who was going to Moody to become an evangelist but he got burned out because he couldn't come to grips with some really basic stuff. I feel like he was living too much by his strength and not enough by faith(but of course that is the hard part). He was pretty discouraging because I had to tell him "i don't know" he just asked complicating things I couldn't sort out on the spot without doing research. Im glad that happened though because it reminded me I need to keep the skeptics perception to be better at helping myself in those situations. In the evening the community element(my element) had a worship on the beach event which went really well. I enjoyed playing the djembe for it. Before Satursday is Friday. Andrea prayed for a day off work so we could go and God answered because she was sent home from work before I even woke up at around 9:30. Either way we went shopping in the morning for food. Then at around 3PM we went for a drive in to Maine to try and find the lighthouse I visited and posted pictures of previous. Of course we had no idea where we were going but that was ok because we stopped like every 15 minutes to take pictures because this area is so scenic and has tons of good photos around. Then after a long day of driving adventures we stopped for dinner at Warrens Lobster *something*(I don't remember). Either way it was really good/expensive we spent 100$ between the two of our meals and drinks. I had 2 lobster claws and a tail, bowl of mussels, cup of clam chowder, and the best salad bar ever. Andrea had lobster alfredo it was good supposedly. I guess thats it for now.

Cool day. I went to church this morning which was... ok. I still can't get my mind around worship just yet, its just way way way too old school traditional for my tastes. On the other hand the teaching of the services is much better than im use to. I always leave with new knowledge although I don't always feel so refreshed as I do after a good worship service. Following church I was dragged around shopping with people but that was ok. I ended up buying the old school Zelda for my GBA so far its equally frustrating as it always has. Once I got back home here I played it for a while and beat the first dungeon... following that I started to do some of my laundry with Andrea so we could go to the beach. We were on the beach for about 2 hours, I finally got some sun on my legs and upper arms. Just a few minutes ago Andrea and I went out to play a few games at the arcade. We managed to find a broken machine that we letting us win everytime which was sweet cuz we scored 400pts out of it when it was broke.. until it ran out of tickets. After the arcade we went and walked across the street to check out the sand sculpture contest. As I was taking a few pictures this man next to us start asking us about the sculptures(they have a lord of the rings theme). After a minute of taking pictures he asked me if I was in to this sculpture stuff and I didn't respond to excited but he proceded to ask me if I wanted to go down on the beach and get a closer look. Of course I took him up on the offer and took a crap load of pictures. It was cool and sweet since I got to do something not many people were allowed to do. I had no idea the guy was there to guard the sand if I knew I might of been a little more excited when he asked me about it. Oh and I hurt myself again today trying to get over the guard rail across the road. I almost did a face plant in to the cement and I almost destroyed my camera but instead i caught myself on the back of my hand mostly my knucles. Yeah that hurt alot and still does. Oh well. I have work tomorrow at 10AM. adios world.

Today was saturday. I had work this morning from 9-1. I spent the day parking cars in the Happy Hampton lot and totally rocked at it which was nice. The only downside was that it was a slow day and we never even made it past 7 dollars to park. Oh well at least I didnt have to be there all day. After work we did an outreach event. It was not so direct though we handed out 8 bottles of gatorade per person on the beach just to initiate conversation and just love on people. It worked pretty good but man it was hard to give away all 8 bottles. You'd think we were offering them crack or something bad for them. I didn't get it but then again I don't get these New Englanders really. After that we did a random person prayer walk which was pretty cool even if I did just wanna sit down. The highlight of my day was the community group event that I led which went super stinking awesome. We played skits in a bag with bible stories. Skits in a bag is where each group gets a bag of props and a vague idea of the story they must tell. Then all groups get a few minutes to plan and the finally they perform. For an added twist tonight we act acting themes like western, or no control over the volume of your voice. It was uber stinking funny I was dying the whole time. Then at the end we had a completely improv homestarrunner re-enactment of david and goliath. Finally just a few short minutes ago I was playing red rover on the beach and had massive fun until Steve and I collided. We smashed in to each others knees which resulted in us both lying on the sand in pain. The good news is that we were both ok and kept moving, I decided to relax and come back to the gull and chill for the evening. Hrm, I just keep going. Yesterday I went out shopping with some guys and we stopped at a comic store and then the fireworks store so I could bring some good stuff back to my brother. I bought a graphic novel(its some spiderman deal but its the first 7 comics). That alone was good except that I really enjoyed the first seven and now I want to go back and buy the next set of 7 comics in book form. I guess thats all i can remember now

Today was work 9-4. I spent the morning parking cars with andrea In the simco parking lot. That was pretty cool until I went on break and came back then they kept moving me around. I kinda like doing one thing all day. I guess its ok because today was a slow day so not much was going on. They actually closed the parking lots at 4 when we left. Towards the end of the day they moved me inside where I was bored working at the redemption counter. I did end up helping the arcade machine tech fix the daytona USA games of course he was kinda patronizing to me. I guess its not unexpected concidering he knows nothing of my background. Either way I now know how to network daytona USA video games for head to head play. The repair guy then went off to go fix DDR but that was on the lower level so I couldn't get away with following him to get a look inside more video games. Oh well. I want to build an aracade machine for myself now because they are super cool. I need to sleep..

» Day 3 of work |
Today I spent the day inside the arcade. Its not nearly as exciting as standing outside. It was pretty ok, except that I got "punished" for talking to a coworker while nothing was going on. I was made to clean all the countertops because I was talking. Well, oh well, I can handle that. Either way I am feeling pretty good and I can see how God is working out all of my issues out of me which is cool. Well, I need to do laundry, have a happy day

» First day of work |
today was my first day of work at the Happy Hampton arcade. It was ok. I spent the day doing inventory of prizes and sweeping the parking lot. The place is a tight ship they don't let anything get away for free and make sure that nothing does. Everything is inventoried a bazillion times a year. Now I gotta get to programming. Well, work was cool and i got a few hours in so its all good. Now on to work. Oh yeah. My website is moving over to the new server right now so its down. Finally the honors college gave me the boot cuz I suck so I need to do well next semester.

Ok so today was basically devoted to dumping our guts out to our disciple groups. I spilled my guts and told a nice detailed life story for the guys. We went out and about to make the spilling more fun. We drove up in to Maine to see some light house. It was really pretty so I took a truck load of photos along the way. SO yeah checkout my photos gallery sometime to see all the photos. No promises on all of it because its raw. We ate at this place called The Friendly Toast(or something like that) it was ok but the decor was a little wierd inside, you can check it out(a little blurry) in my photos. We also visited a war memorial to talk. Oh a good thing, I had a warm shower so I was happy about that(andrea just reminded me about that). Over all thought I did get some pretty decent sunburn so I look like a lobster. I guess that is all. It was good to dump out all the junk from my life to a few people and let someone else deal with my life for a little of it. I missed andrea most of the day, I really didn't get to sit down and talk to her till just now. So I shut up now and talk to her cuz I like her more than you. hah

» Day 3 |
Much Better. Period. Today was fun. I went to the beach for a while and played a few games at the arcade I am working at. I am posting more pictures to my site as I post. Sadly the upstream bandwidth here is not that amazing but it still is better than using dialup to upload 60 megs of photos per day. Aside from fun stuff today it was very real today as far as getting to the truth of why we are here and what we should be thinking about as we serve in the community here. I like that. Its also really cool because I really see changes(not little ones but huge ones) in the lives of people around me. Furthermore I am starting to really understand what I am going to need to do to change my life to really do a good job while I am here and then when I go home as well.

I feel good again because of perfect girl I know who has that effect on me. Today we went job hunting(also a souce of frustration and ..joy), I did get a job at the Happy Hampton Arcade however Andrea and myself couldn't find a job together which we really wanted to do. I guess God is saying no to that and not letting it work that way. I'll just trust him on it for now since its not like I have too many options. We are going to post pictures from each day or as often as we can so we can have a wicked huge archive by the end of the summer(like my use of wicked?). Andrea is going to look for a job tomorrow since the guy at the arcade kinda ruined her chances there. I know she will find a job and it will be fine but it would be nice if it happened now, or soon. Its kinda hot in this room and I'm going to shut up soon but I wanted to post the results of my Values Self test. Always Value: Structure and Direction, Peace, Loyalty, Freedom Seldom Value: Vulnerable Communication, Influencing Others, Healthy Working Relationships, Shared Goals There are other values in between but I figured I'd save typing and just give the top and bottom of my list. Time to upload the pictures now.

Frustration is mounting and the breaking point is starting to show stretch marks. Its day two but my mind and body is not handling this particularly well. Its making me more anti-social than usual which leads to me not being involved as much as I probably should be. I don't feel like sleeping, I want to ride a bike for like 10 miles and burn off all my frustrations for the past two days.

» Hampton Beach Day 1 |
Well. At the crack of dawn today(4:30AM) I was up getting ready to leave at 5:30. I picked up andrea at around 5:15 but we didn't get moving till about 5:40 which is ok. On the way here we took lots of pictures and they are now posted for your pleasure. Sadly we did get a little lost on the way here in New York. We were supposed to get on 87 and then get on 287 however when the directions were written down the 2 was left off so we stayed on 87 which took us all the way in to the Bronx which is about when we went "oh crap!". So luckly we figured it out when we were close to I95 and so we hopped on there and backtracked and got ourself back on the way. I guess the worst part of that whole ordeal was the time we were going in the wrong way was all in heavy traffic so it was extra slow getting lost. Once we got on our way everything else went perfect. Its pretty cool here both just preference and temperature. I'll be taking lots of pictures so check my pictures site out alot.
A side note is that I have high speed internet here so I am very happy about that. Now i can get all the important work at home done without problems. whoo. Also my silly server is not online yet and I want it now. I need it just like i need high speed internet access to keep me breathing. Ok that is all for now.

Yawn, I slept till 1:45PM but I guess that is in order. Did I mention I love my headphones? Sound quality is owned by these things. Ya know what I like about Nine Inch Nails? I think a lot of the sequnced drum tracks were done on my type of electronic drums. Its cool to see what *could* be done with some tweaking. I need to really start working, why must my days always be a long series of distrations.
