Some Reviews...
Fable
I start with Fable because it will lead in to the next review. It certainly had many good concepts going as well as entertaining, but I had two issues. One, it sold the idea that the game was so random that every time you played it would be different. In reality, the game had two plot lines that you could jump back and forth whether you made good choices or evil choices. This can work if done well, but don't sell me on false premises. Second, there were many plotholes. This is a sure sign of marketing rush a game intro production.

Knights of the Old Republic 2
Speaking of good and evil, plotholes, and rushed to market, KOTOR2 simply put, as Chip said, is like having sex and then your partner leaving before you can orgasm. Forty plus hours of sex and nothing to blow my load on. Such a disappointment since I loved the first one.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Wow. Why did I never play this series since the first one (yeah, the original top view one from 1997). Simple yet entertaining. Everytime I visit a new town it's a whole new game. I've been playing this intermittently between other games. It's a huge game. Is it worth it to back to play to Vice City?

Mercenaries
Excellent. This is like GTA meets Halo meets outsourced military. It has similar challenges like GTA-- military contracts, mini race games, mini-challenges, etc. The Halo elements are taking vehicles, hijacking them, picking up passengers as well as only being able to carry 2 guns. Need different equipment? Call in for a cargo or vehicle drop. Need to blow up a bunker? Call in an air strike or artillery bombardment, unless you got a shitload of C4. Too many enemies? Call in for an A-10 to cluster-bomb the fuckers.

Things I'd like to see in a future version: Night and day effects (this is a daytime only game), better stealth tactics, boats (maybe they are there but I haven't seen any yet), building combat, more mobility -- dodging, rolling, leaning, etc., and knives. I gotta have knives.

If you still oppose the election and live in California:

** Green Party of California Update **

Recap:

January 6, 2005, at 1:00 P.M, the electoral votes for the election of the
president are to be opened and counted in a joint session of Congress.
Congressman Conyers is going to object the electoral college vote due to
multiple irregularities. He needs one Senator to likewise object in order to
stop Congress's counting the vote. The objections must be disposed of before
the election of Bush can be finalized.

It appears that Senator Boxer is close to joining the objection...

Subject: Looking for Californians! Barbara Boxer wants to hear from you.
Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2005 01:32:52 -0600

Link: Barbara Boxer will join Conyers if enough calls!

Excerpt from author:
Hi folks.
Barbara Boxer apparently told a group of 20 women meeting with her
that if she gets enough people asking her to do it, she WILL be the
senator to join Rep. Conyers.
Pease call one of the numbers below -- I just called the toll-free
capital switchboard number and operator said Boxer's voicemail there
is full!

Please call her and pass the word!!!
ESPECIALLY if you live in California!

PLEASE FORWARD TO CALIFORNIANS YOU KNOW.

FEEL GOOD POSTS :

I just called and spoke to a staff member in her LA office (which is
where I live). The staff member said that Senator Boxer is watching
the numbers very closely on this one, and that she would add me to
the growing tally of people asking the Senator to stand with
Conyers.
Especially if you live in California, folks, call call call!

While I won't hate you for Buying Blue- because I know how good those Bumble and Bumble hair products are. And sometimes, I'll let it slide when you buy Red- because Macy's is the only place that has jeans that actually look good on you. Sometimes you just don't have a choice. When you do have options (And I'd like to give you a few more of those), I encourage you to Buy Green. (Offline, support local farmers markets, artisans, and local businesses.)

Because we need to encourage Community-based Sustainable Economics, not self-serving centralized government/corporate economics.
