11:15 am - Every Morning There's a Halo Hanging From My Girlfriend's Four-Post Bed...
|
Ok, that is the last time I get up before noon to get test results.
I wonder if I could start a successful business that would involve letting one get the results of their STD tests over the phone for a small fee. I think people might pay for the convenience, but start-up capital would be a motherfucker.
In other news, finished re-reading the Budayeen trilogy, so I can finish reading Budayeen Nights. After that, I think I'll re-start Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World. When I finish that, I'll carry it around and fucking beat people with it.
Missed the Rumble, sadly, but I just finished reading the results and I'll watch last night's RAW in a few minutes...or I'll fall asleep first. Not sure which.
Sydney shaved my head last night, something I've been needing for a couple of weeks now. I also went over it with a razor, something I'm considering maintaining for a bit. Meanwhile, I still have four weeks of beard on my face and I haven't decided when I want to shave it. I thought about doing so tonight, but I think I may just let it slide for as long as possible. The "Lawrence Fishburne as Othello" look has a certain appeal and lord knows I've no interest in impressing anyone. It'll definitely be gone before Saturday night, though. After all, this is how Saajid should look, not Clive. (That reminds me, I gotta see if there's any baby powder in this house.)
I skipped breakfast. I should get lunch, but I'm not really motivated to do so. Hm.

So the weekend was decent. Gamed a bit, drank a bit, saw folks, saw some other folks, socialized, ate, and fucked. Grabbed one book from the library, but not another. Shaved the neck, but not the head, sadly.
At some point last week, I held a private showing of Clash of the Titans.
Sydney comes into town in about five hours. Talkin' to the Princess on AIM. Keep thinkin' about hitting IRC, but it always seems like a waste.
Snagged all the tracks for The Mars Volta album De-loused in the Comatorium. I'll listen to it after I go through all these Muse tracks I've grabbed. I'm six tracks into Absolution and so far, the singles (Time is Running Out and Hysteria) are the best songs. When I was younger, I had a three song rule for new albums. If it didn't have three good songs on it, I wouldn't get it. Of course, I broke this rule a number of times, but usually only with CD's that were used. These days, I usually just grab the tracks I like and leave the rest, but every so often, I'm compelled to dig deeper. Picking up Maroon 5's Songs About Jane was the last time I indulged this particular urge and that paid off pretty well.
I'll say this for Muse; the lyrics are good and the music is good, but I occasionally can't figure out how the fuck they decided to marry the two. The tracks that have given me that thought most are Stockholm Syndrom and Butterflies and Hurricanes.
I think I'll pause for now and go watch some TV. I've managed to get the song from Skidoo out of my head and it's time to relax with a little Raw and a couple episodes of West Wing.

If there is at least one person in your life whom you consider a close friend, and whom you would not have met without the Internet, post this sentence in your journal.

2:54 am - I AM INVINCIBLE!
|
I'm back on, baby!
Uninstalled the drivers, removed the card, reinstalled Windows 2000, re-installed the drivers, (re)placed the card in a new slot.
Woohoo!
Now...who can name the movie quoted in the subject?
Edit: So, Windows 2000 seems to be running, the update pack seems ok, got a copy of Office '03 (thanks to thorns), re-installed AVG (though that needs updating), and the sound driver issue is fixed.

The install was successful...but now, of course, none of my shit works.
Need new drivers for my wireless card and my sound, apparently. This means I'm typing this upstairs because I can't get on from my bedroom at the moment. Fuck.
And all my Firefox bookmarks were wiped. WTF? I think I'm more pissed off at that than anything...

12:50 am - Upgrading
|
I'm currently running Windows ME on this machine.
Hoepfully, in a little bit, I'll be running Windows 2000.
Wish me luck, as there's a possibility that I could be killed during this process. These are Microsoft products we're talking about, after all.
If it works, all praise is due to Allah. If it fails, then all scorn will be heaped upon sarahliz and evilbutcute, my absentee technical advisors.

5:25 am - Thursday Night
|
Man, talk about a lazy-ass day.
Found myself in the unfortunate position of catching a second wind last night and found that I couldn't fucking sleep until somewhere near 8am yesterday. That meant I slept until 5pm, which is a habit I thought I was going to break, having gotten up at 1:30ish Wednesday afternoon and being somewhat productive because of it. Damn it.
So, instead, I made a few phone calls, did some e-mail. thorns came home and died. sarahliz was nice enough to grace me with her presence. We got chinese food and watched this indie irish flick called Intermission, which is one of those we'll-show-you-a-bunch-of-people-in-a-given-neighborhood-and-then-show-you-how-they're-all-connected movies, like Twenty Bucks or Slacker. Fortunately, I like those kinds of movies. Watching Colin Farrel (whom we all know) as a psycho thug crook and Colm Meany as a psycho thug cop was pretty cool. :) Afterwards, we kind of ended up watching Devil's Advocate, which I have to admit was one of Keanu's better roles.
Now, I'm sitting here, not sleepy and trying to figure out what to do with myself. Looks like Smackdown taped successfully, so I s'pose there's that.
Ohhhh...Sarah Silverman, Matthew Perry, Christopher Meloni and Michael Vartan are playing poker on Bravo. Chicks always clean up on Celebrity Poker, I've noticed (or, at least, the first few times I've watched)...

7:18 am - A Something Positive Quote
|
"If my life were any more of a letdown right now, it would be the ending of a Stephen King novel."
Yeah...I can relate to that.
8:49am Edit: I have now read SP from the beginning to the most recent strip, all in the span of a month. Damn.

5:16 am - Happy Bloody New Year
|
More and more, updating is becoming a pain in the ass. The act of sitting down and writing about my life just seems pointless. Still, I suppose I should continue until I can think of a reason not to.
NYE was good, at least. Party'd at brokenhaus all night, as opposed to hitting a club (why bother?) or some of the more laid back gatherings available and it worked out well. I danced, I hung out, I chatted a bit, and I drank. It was definitely one of the better New Years' on record.
NYD was good, too. Spent most of it sleeping and hanging out with sarahliz. We hit Fuddrucker's for grubb and Blockbuster for Saved!, a movie I'd been meaning to catch for a while. Both were good.
Sunday was Star Trek, which was fuckin' awesome, as usual. 'Nuff said.
In the past few hours, it's been watching Quantum Leap on DVD and helpin' Rico out over at his place makin' sure his shit was together for St. Louis. Since returning, I've been reading Something Positive, e-mail, and checking the local WWE Blast Areas, checking to see if any of 'em have changed (they haven't). I really really really really wanna see the New Year's Revolution PPV (and the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania...:).
All right, time to watch Raw...
Edit: Either my cable or my VCR decided to fuck me over and give me two hours of grey static. *sigh* Anybody got it on tape?
