cats are so strange sometimes |

Ben.....you're cat is very strange. She can be so terribly sweet at times. But her mood changes so drastically that it's scary.
My brother and I were watching a movie this evening and she came and lay down on his chest. He started to pet her and she was all purring and rubbing her head against his hand and what not. Then, out of the blue, she starts attacking his hand. Now, I know that cats get playful ---- but I've had two cats and Lillith's reaction was definitely not "playful." She growled at him and just went after his hand with her teeth and claws. It was so strange. Needless to say, his hand was bleeding as a result ----- and now he doesn't trust her (I don't blame him!). Not five minutes later, she came back and wanted to sit on his chest again as if nothing had happened. He shoved her off his lap because he would like to keep his hands in one piece!
She did the same thing to me the other day when I picked her up and she sat down on my shoulders. I was reaching back and petting her with my left hand. She was doing the same thing --- purring and rubbing her head against my hand. And then she attacked my hand, growl and all, exactly like she did my brother today. Seriously, what's up with that? Does she do that to you, too? It makes everyone kind of wary of petting her because one minute she loves it and the next she's nearly amputated a few fingers! |

Just a few random thoughts...
- I love baking bread. I've got a batch going right now ---- yummm. - Dollarama sells chocolate for 59 cents a bar. Now I know where to stock up on Kit Kat Chunky. I can eat chocolate again on Monday. Dollarama will receive some business from me on that day :) - I'm super excited for Jars Of Clay's upcoming album. I'm so glad they didn't do a "Worship" album. Instead, they're new one will be all hymns.....old hymns. I love Jars Of Clay. They're beautiful. - I'm going to cut Lillith's nails today. They're very long and very sharp and she's hurting Pippin with them. Not very nice. |

Lillith and Pippin are getting along so well. When they're both hyper, they chase each other around like crazy and then end up in the living room, going nuts on the cat toys. Lillith sits on your shoulders, the way Shadow used to do all the time. I think it's going to be hard to part with her once dj_bennyb gets back from his vacation. I may just have to refuse to give her back :)
Work today was a lot of fun. Chris worked in customer service and we joked around a lot. AND I got a ton of stuff done, which makes me really happy. Some days I get interrupted so many times by certain people poking around in the boxes, telling me what I should receive A.S.A.P --- and people constantly asking me if boxes from so-and-so company have arrived yet. Yeesh. Is it that hard to go through the boxes yourself instead of interrupting me and making me check it for you? When I say "I'm Ben for the next 5 weeks,"....it doesn't mean I suddenly gained all his knowledge and know-how when it comes to receiving! There's still a few things left for me to learn :)
I'm just really glad that I was able to train Shawna on how to do the mailing. I think I'd go mental if I was still fully in charge of that as well as the receiving! And she's doing such a great job with the mailing, too! Way to go Shawna!!!
Anyhow. Time to go play with the cats. |

Feeling sooooooo much better. I'm still a tad stuffed up and I'm trying to get rid of a hacking/phlegm-filled cough........but I feel TOTALLY fine! People comment on me being sick.....but I don't feel "sick"....I only sound like it. Has anyone else with a cold been getting hot flashes? It's really strange. Ever since I first came down with this last Thursday, I feel totally hot one minute and then I'm freezing the next. I've never had that happen before.
I actually had the nerve to tell a guy that it was only necessary to ring the bell once in order to get my attention :) Shawna had gone to the back for a second and someone at the counter rang the bell.....and then again and again and again. I got up to go help the person and they started ringing the bell over and over again. So....I walked up to the counter and said (with a smile on my face): "Once is enough!" hehe. I'm glad I said it with a smile on my face because the guy looked a bit sheepish. Turns out he kept ringing it because he thought it wasn't working --- he was expecting it to be louder and he was paranoid no one would hear it. Silly man! It worked perfectly fine! Anyhow....we both laughed about it and that was that :)
Staff meeting tomorrow! Bright and early! Woot! |

My two years of being illness free have come to an end. *sigh* Well, it was bound to happen. Can't be immune forever....unfortunately. My throat improved quite a bit by Friday. However, by Friday evening, my sinus's were quite congested. Boo to that!!
I woke up this morning to the horror of my throat being all painful again. I wanted to cry. However, my good friend Buckley's was there to help me out. I'm happy to say my throat feels considerably better and I'm able to breath through my nose once again. I think I've passed on my cold to my brother, though. He accidentally took a sip from my slurpee the other day, thinking it was his. So...he got my cooties. And I can hear him coughing a lot as I'm typing this. Poor guy. |

Ugh.
Despite going to bed at 9:45pm last night, I still ended up waking up every single hour. What the heck? And to top it off, when my alarm went off this morning, my throat felt like there were hundreds of needles lodged inside...digging deeper and deeper every time I swallowed or caughed. And my voice was completely gone. Then again....it was too painful to try talking.
So I called in sick today and I'm so glad that I did. My throat feels the same now as it did this morning and I was so tired that I've been sleeping pretty much the entire day. I really hope it's not strep or something. Mum was wonderful and went out to the pharmacy to get something to help with the pain. I was going to go myself, but she wouldn't let me venture outside! I love my mum :)
Anyhow, I'll be back at work tomorrow --- pain or no pain. |

Today was definitely not the best of days. I hardly got any sleep last night due to an annoying cough I have gained over the past couple of days ---- that and the fact that I woke up every 2 hours because I had to go pee so badly. I guess that teaches me for drinking tea right before going to bed. When my alarm went off, I felt like a zombie. My stomach was begging for food, to the point where I felt sick. So, I tried to eat some cereal but it just wasn't feeling any better. So I gave up after a few spoonful's.
I wanted to call in sick. Really badly. But I didn't want to lose a day's wage.....and I didn't want to have to come in on Saturday to make up for it! So, I dragged myself to work. I wasn't very good company for the entire morning......not that I was grumpy or anything....just not talkative and very much unmotivated. But...by the time lunch rolled around, I was pretty hungry. And I slept for the last 30 minutes of my lunch break which did me some good.
After I go pick up Lillith (the cat I'll be cat-sitting), I think I'll head straight to bed. My body aches for rest. |

I just finished reading an article that explains how lack of sleep is linked to weight gain. When will these people make up their minds? Not that long ago I read an article on MSN about how getting less than 7-8 hours of sleep in a night is better for you. ....now they're telling me I'll just get fat if I don't sleep 7-8 hours. Sheesh.
In other news.....
- I'm getting another cat tomorrow. I'm cat-sitting for dj_bennyb while he frolicks all over Brazil for the next 6 weeks. - My shoulders/neck are very sore. I think part of it has to do with the fender-bender last Friday...but I don't want to go to the chiropractor because I actually have to pay for it this time. - My goal is to lose about 20lbs before I leave for Japan in June. If I lost 2lbs a week, it's quite do-able. |

Went to the dentist this morning for a regular checkup/cleaning. The dental assistant that was doing the cleaning for me was so funny! When it came time for the polishing, she asked me what flavor I wanted. I was like "There's flavors??". So, I got to choose between raspberry, mint, grape, banana, orange and cookie dough. Wow!! I went for the cookie dough, haha :) I never imagined they'd have different flavors for grown-ups! She told me that they just wanted to make things more "fun" for the patients. Sounds fair!
And the best part of the visit ---- no cavities!! Woohoo!! |

Well, the hair is all gone. I decided to shave my head instead. kidding :)
No, it's precisely the way I wanted it....and I put in some red-ish highlights. I think it really sucks that you can't buy different color highlights for your hair. The only colors I can find is blonde and red-ish type colors. I would've loved something in a plum color. Meh. I just didn't feel like paying $40 to get the perfect color highlights when I could pay $12 for an okay color and do it myself.
I haven't been able to stay up really late these past few days. I try to stay up until mum gets home from work (midnight).....but I find myself going to bed at around 11pm. How sad is that? :p |

I went to the passport office this morning to drop off my application. I was informed that I had to *wait* for my new citizenship card in the mail. If I haven't received it 2 weeks prior to my travel date, then I can bring in my application (with proof of payment and mailing) and they'll quickly issue a temporary passport for me. It's all good. Saves me $87 for now :)
Met up with elfuzzo yesterday after work. We grabbed a bite to eat at The Twist, then headed down to the Towne 8 theater to see Constantine. It was an okay movie. I was expecting something a bit different, I guess.......the movie reminded me a lot of Prophecy....sometimes too much so. It's like they took the idea of those films and added their own slight twist.
As I've already mentioned, I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow...and I'll be dying it as well. Don't know what color yet :) But for now.....I have the rest of the week off and I'm not doing NOTHING! (good English, eh?) I'm going to be a lazy fart until work beckons me back on Monday. |

I must say that it is quite entertaining to play a game of Blurt! with a moderately drunk person. I went to Kimmy K's birthday party last night. It was a really fun evening of just sitting around, enjoying food and playing games. I've never been to a party where you just play games....so it was pretty fun. We played Taboo. Girls against the guys. The guys were soooo confident that they'd cream us that they let us have an extra person on our team (we had one more girl than there were guys). We ended up creaming the guys and then the guys were like "Oh, but you guys had an extra player....wha wha wha!" That's what they get for being too cocky!
I'm going to get my hair cut this week. I'm excited. |

Wow.
I asked my boss if her husband would be so kind as to sign my citizenship photo's and to also notarize some documents that I'd photocopied. Not only did he do that for me, but the both of them did research on the interent, printed up some applications for me, told me what I did and didn't need to send in.......I mean, my boss went through it all and highlighted the important stuff for me. It is WAY more than I expected of them and I think it's so incredibly wonderful of them to do this on their own time. Her husband is a lawyer, so he's dealt with the wonderful government many times. I'm just totally floored at all this help their giving me. I'm very, very appreciative of it!
I have some time off next week and I plan on spending every minute I can in sorting out my passport and citizenship situation.
In other news......very sad news......my mother used to work for a couple who's grandson passed away this past week. He died of a heart attack ----- he was only 13-years old. His parents were away on vacation in the Dominican and he was staying with his grandparents. Apparently, while he was watching television with is grandpa, he just fell over to the side.....dead. And to make it even worse, the boys other grandfather died only 2 hours later. Talk about a sad day. If you feel up to it, please pray for the family. My mother called yesterday and the grandmother could hardly speak because she was crying so much. I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like..... |

So it looks like mum and I are in the same boat. She was crying on Friday because of an incident at work. During their morning break, she was sitting at the usual table with the usual gang and talking about how the maintenance on certain machines wasn't being kept up. Suddenly, one of the women sitting at the table got up and marched out of the cafeteria. The woman came back a few minutes later but went to go sit with some people at a different table. Throughout the day, whenever this woman would pass by my mother she'd just glare at her.....but smile at everyone else. My mother had NO clue what she'd done to piss this woman off. They go to the same church, they carpool, they sit and chat every morning over a cup of hot chocolate. All of a sudden this woman is pissed off at her and won't tell her why. Mum said that this woman doesn't operate the machines that my mother was referring to and her comments had nothing to do with this woman!! They were friends for crying out loud!
Anyhow, she was upset and crying when she told me all of this. She did not appreciate this woman going behind her back and telling everyone else what the problem was, but not her. My mother was told by another co-worker today that the woman had said she was waiting for my mother to come to her! Only then would she tell her what offended her.
I'm sorry, but if someone says something that offends or hurts you, you should tell them right then and there "Hey, I don't appreciate that...." or "That offends me because..." Don't get up and walk away and give the silent treatment expecting that person to come crawling to you when they haven't the faintest idea what they've done or said to upset you so much. That is completely immature and uncalled for, especially when you've been friends with this person for a while. What kind of a friend does that to you?
If I had a day off this week, I'd drive down to my mothers work and let this woman know exactly what I think of her behaviour. I've done it once before and I'd gladly do it again. |

I went down to the cold storage this evening with the intention of enjoying a glass from the wine that kvasir gave to me at my birthday party.
It was not there.
I specially put the Khalua and the wine separate from my parents' stash so that they would know it was mine. And they knew this. ....so I came back upstairs and asked them if they knew what had happened to my wine. Had someone moved it? Then mum tells me that dad had brought something up yesterday and they'd finished off the bottle.
Gee. Thanks. Remind me to repay the favor next time someone brings YOU a gift. Perhaps I'll just help myself to that $40 bottle of wine our neighbors brought back from their trip to France.

I finally did it. I plucked my eyebrows. And by that I mean I finally got rid of that little bushy part of my eyebrows, close to my nose. The part that looks funny because it seems to stick straight up and out. I've been wanting to get rid of that little section for so long now, but never had the courage to actually do it. I like the look of my eyebrows sooooo much better now without it. No, I'm not going for the pencil-thin look. I enjoy the fact that I have full eyebrows.....they were just a little too full :)
I find it hilarious that an aunt of mine thought I purposely had my eyebrows that way. She loved the way they stuck out. What a funny woman. |

Work today was so incredibly boring. I caught up with everything on Friday, which left almost nothing for me to do today. Well, not true. It just meant there was nothing to do that I usually do on a Saturday. I ended up making a lot of little jobs for myself.....but it still didn't make the day go any faster :/
An elderly woman took a nasty fall in our store today. We have this little "stage" in one corner of our store (I think they built it specifically with Steve Bell in mind). Along the walls by the stage is where we have all of our framed art. My guess is that the woman was looking at the pictures, took a step back and didn't realize she was at the end of the stage. That's what I'm assuming happened because when I turned to look at what caused the noise, I saw her sprawled on the floor, right beside the stage. I felt really bad for her and I hope she didn't seriously hurt herself. davila came around the corner and asked the woman if she was okay. Yikes.
Got the house to myself until about 11pm!!! Time for a scary movie :) |
