How long has it been since I've uploaded a picture? Forever. So here's one.

(Thank you for the hosting, [info]popespydie!)

I'd love to include the other person that was in that photo, but I'm not sure how he'd feel about it. I do know how I feel about it, though.

It's important not to hold peoples pasts against them, but I think it's even more important not to hold your past against other people. One of my favorite quotes by Mark Twain is as follows: "We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it - and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again - and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore."

But how do you detach yourself, protect yourself? How do you know if that stove lid is hot until you touch it? And how many times will you get burned before you decide to screw the stove lid and sit on the couch?

I will be in COLUMBIA on Tuesday the 20th until at least that Friday. The details are still sketchy because it's a business trip, but I'll be right off of Bush River road. I'm pretty sure all of my nights will be open, but it's touch and go until I get there. The meetings will be all day, every day, from 8:30 on, but when they're over I'll be all alone. What's to do in Columbia? I don't even know my way around comfortably enough to just strike out and drive somewhere. If any of my friends from that area want to hang out, just let me know.

2:06 pm Let's Talk About...
I didn't quite realize how lonely I'd gotten until I was responding to one of those "Get to Know You" quizzes and stumbled upon this question: "2. If you could eat lunch with one person, who would it be?".

Now that may seem like a perfectly harmless question, but do you KNOW the last time I ate lunch with someone? I started to answer and this is what came out:

Hmm...is this person alive or what? I don't know. I'm a lonely person, anybody could bring me food and then they'd be locked in my basement, rubbing lotion on their skin. That's not entirely true; I don't have a basement. But if I did and it had a hole in the floor, a deep hole, I'd make my friend get in it while we ate lunch. But I'd eat lunch at the top of the hole, and then send their food down it bites in a little basket. Except it's so deep that maybe they would be scared to climb down and I'd have to say "Look at what I have in this hole" and when they went to look I'd just push them in. I'm not sure how they would get out but everyone knows you're not supposed to stand next to holes anyway.

- ...friends!
WDC Glenn: I don't like marshmallow-y cereal, just for the record.
j o s i e P O P: Well you tell me this NOW, after I'm through
j o s i e P O P: *disgusted*
WDC Glenn: Don't worry, I don't object to it as a lifestyle choice for others.
j o s i e P O P: I can't tell!
WDC Glenn: I don't think you're a bad person on that account.
WDC Glenn: I prefer peanut-butter Captain Crunch.
WDC Glenn: I'll have my PB Cap'n Crunch, and you can have your abomination before God.
j o s i e P O P: Oh no, no, I insist. God ALWAYS eats first.

DevilTurnip: Where do we meet? Is your winter penthouse free?
j o s i e P O P: Let me check
j o s i e P O P: Yes
j o s i e P O P: I can have the jet pick you up at 2
j o s i e P O P: your time
DevilTurnip: Wait, 2 is no good, I have a power lunch with Bill Gates. How about 3?
j o s i e P O P: You can't cancel lunch with Bill to have sex with me?! UGH. It's probably just beluga and some fifty thousand year old wine.
j o s i e P O P: OK, fine. No, wait. Uh uh. I have to drive Dub out to the lake house. Osama is out of crackers.
j o s i e P O P: 4:30
DevilTurnip: Let me check my schedule book....
DevilTurnip: Okay, 4:30 looks good. I'm suposed to meet my wife's lover for a round of golf, but I can cancel.
j o s i e P O P: You'd better.
DevilTurnip: Done and done. Now, on to Subsection C of our arrangement. Who is responsible for birth control?
j o s i e P O P: As mentioned in Article XI, the female shall bear sole responsibility of birth control, and must enforce such responsibilities no sooner than six (6) months before arranged consumations.
DevilTurnip: Fair enough. I'll fax the appropriate documents over to your office.
DevilTurnip: Do you have any last minute addendums?
j o s i e P O P: Make it snappy, lunch is coming up and Janets been grumpy lately.
j o s i e P O P: Bring part #2627, part #9915, and part #6248. I have part #3711, which you particularly enjoy.
DevilTurnip: Oh yes, that would be lovely. Part #9915 Has been surgically modified since you last saw it. I assume there are no problems there?
j o s i e P O P: Difficulty locating approval confirmation of said modification, but has been noted.

If a person has an issue such as an anxiety disorder that keeps them from enjoying/completing a career, do you think a legitimate work-from-home job would be conducive or debilitating?

How would your opinion change if they have seen several doctors and tried more than a few medications and counseling sessions and/or if they have tried to work through it own their own? This includes two week-long hospitalizations for emotional rehabilitation.

- Interviews
[info]keefriffards:

1. did you ever receive a wedgie in highschool?
Yes, numerous times. It didn't help my brother was only a year older than me, and on the football team.

2. who gives better head, a man or a woman?
Based on my experience, a woman.

3. what have you pierced on your body?
Tongue, septum, ashley piercing (lip), christina (pubic), 6 in each ear (tragus, vertical tragus, conch, anti-tragus, reg. holes), nipples, vertical hood, tongue web. What I wear on a daily basis: 2 regular ear holes, tragus, nipples, hood, tongue web.

4. have you ever masturbated with a fruit or a vegetable?
Nope. Highlighters & hairbrushes used to be my thing, though.

5. what classic car would be the best to have sex in the back seat of?
1933 DS 8 Maybach Zeppelin

[info]mokitty:

1. How did you choose your LJ name?
It was a mixture of the Outlaw Josey Wales, Iggy Pop, Jimmy Pop from BHG, and the fact that I always wanted to be named Josie.

2. How are you since the car wreck? Any lasting effects?
I'm a lot better. I'm still having physical therapy on my leg, but it was injured before the wreck.

3. Do you/did you ever have any pets? If yes, what kind and what are/were their names?
Oh yes, I've always had pets. Right now I have dogs: Moo, Bug, and Big (who are Siberian Husky/something else mixes), Alice (who is a breed of her own), and Daemeon (a Red Boy/Jeep Bulldog). Recently passed are my dogs Ashley and Rasta, and my hamster Mama.

4. What would your ideal job be?
My ideal job consists of two parts: I want to edit and write for my own magazine one day. Ideally I would publish it as well, here in my hometown, because of the lack of jobs that are available. I'd like to have a non-profit organization within the magazine that would help mentor young writers (especially those that suffer from reading disabilities or those from under-privileged homes). When I was growing up, I loved to write, but our public school system didn't really allow extra time for my teachers to help encourage me with my writing dreams, and I think that's very important.

5. What's your favorite place you've ever lived or visited and why?
The best and happiest memories I have definitely came from Athens/Atlanta, GA, and Huntsville, AL. I chose those because they connected me with so many people that I really cherish. I was never aware of how many people I had that cared about me until I was on my way home.

Oh yeah, and if you want to ask, ask in the comments and I'll answer here, then ask you 5 back. Fun for the whole family!

It's kind of fun not having electricity. Besides the fact that I have to wake up an hour earlier to drive to my grandmothers house to take a shower, that is. I have a lot of those little $1 touch lamps all over the floor, walls, and coffee table in my living room and my dog Alice gets the most joy from those things. She's never seen lights she can turn on and off before. It sucks not being able to play KILLSWITCH especially after just getting it for Christmas, but what can you do. ONE MORE WEEK! I may decide to never return to electricity. I may just become like my Amish homies and kick it in the dark.

11:45 am Let's Talk About...
I've just had my weekly writing hour on Animal Protection Acts. I managed to harass Governor Frank Murkowski (Alaska), Senior Advisor to the Secretary Drue Pearce (Washington, DC), President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Governor Jim McGreevey and his DEP Commissioner Bradley Campbell, and lastly, Secretary Ann Veneman (USDA).

I get so frustrated in my e-mails and faxes that I sometimes don't know what to say. I always research the person to whom I am writing. I try to find something to praise them for, something to thank them for, etc. But in the end I think my frustration is pretty well masked (I hope) as frustration shows emotion, yes, but it does not show logic and that is what these people in power are looking for. When there is an Act lying somewhere unsigned that can save the lives of over 500 animals, I get fidgety thinking about why they're not signing it.

I know that there are very major issues in the world today: hunger, AIDS, war, keep on naming names. I just feel I'm better equipped and educated to write on animal welfare than any of the other topics. I get crap from trolls and even people I know, "Why are you wasting your time on this when there are much more important issues at hand?". And I don't know why, I don't know why this is such a passionate thing to me, I don't but it is and so there.

Do you think that it's a bad thing to be occupying officials time when they have other issues that are more pressing? Are they even handling those issues? When do you just shut up?

Do any of you take action besides voting? Writing letters, protests, or anything like that? Not just for animals, but for anything. What do you believe in and stand up for? How do you defend yourself when others disagree, or do you? I make my case and share my opinion but I don't beat people over the head with it. I think my letters are very calm, almost neutral. I usually always ask their opinion on the Act, Bill, or Law in question. It's not like "HEY! This is stupid, what you're doing here, and you should stop because I said so."
