Hey im a newbie. Love Joy Div, Transmission rocks, even more so when they play it in clubs, unfortunately Love Will Tear Us Apart is played more often, but thats equally impressive. Feel free to comment, questions most welcome.

Do you know a lot of Joy Division fans where you live? I did not know any fans until I went to college and hung out with people 10 years older than me, it is rare to meet people into the same music as me, it gets lonely.

    Maybe it's just me...
Does this shirt piss any of you off?

Yes, I know the guy from the band Thursday likes Joy Division a lot, and they even made a song called "Ian Curtis" with random altered lyrics from Joy Division songs but this shirt is just a damn rip-off. Himsa made one that said "Love Will Tear YOU Apart" except that one had artwork with some girl lying like that with her chest torn apart and guts flying out. I found that shirt funny and actually want to get it but they don't sell it anymore. That's not the case here. Maybe I'm just a bitter kid. Whatever. Discuss!

Few weeks back I visited the Staglieno cemetery in Genova, Italy. Ian Curtis took
the cover photos of Closer and Love Will Tear Us Apart 12" there. The guide of
the cemetery had met Curtis there, 25 years ago. I have a gallery online of the
    photos I took.

    Joy Division and Me
    High and Low guys,
Im Jon and i just found this community, before it i was pretty sure i was the only fan in the world...well where i am, ive never found another fan except my best friend. which is wierd because i live in Macclesfield, and wierder still i go to King's (The King's school in Macclesfield) the school Ian himself attended. walking through the school listening to JD is such a powerful experiance, as any of you who have been to Macclesfield will know, it is a very depressing town. and my school; moreso.
there was even a teacher two years ago who remembered him, but i wasnt so interested then...

    thanks,
    i love you.

Hi everyone, my name's Danny and I'm new to the community. I started listening to Joy Division about a month ago, and I have to say they are one of my favorite bands right now. My favorite tracks are Digital, Day of Lords, Glass, Disorder, She's Lost Control, Shadowplay, Wilderness, Interzone, Ice Age, Dead Souls, Komakino, Atrocity Exhibition, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Colony, Decades, etc. And just for the hell of it, I really don't have any genre I like to listen to in general. My favorite bands are Fugazi (alternative..ish) DragonForce (speed metal) Misfits (punk...ish, not to mention Led Zeppelin, and Joy Division! I just pick out the cream of the crop I guess. Well I'm glad I found this community, just thought I'd introduce myself.

Oh, quick question. If I have half of the Heart and Soul collection, do I have half of the discography?

    Current Mood: tired.

    Food for thought....
Did anyone else realize that JD is eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year?! Am I right about this? I mean, it HAS been 25 years since "Unknown Pleasures" was released. Twenty-five years is the minimum amount of time considered for eligibility. How cool would that be if JD was inducted next March? I'm sure they'll be inducted eventually, but it'd be nice if they were inducted as soon as they were eligible.

i'm probably late, but i saw preview for the film "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." They played what seems to be a cover of "Ceremony", it sounded a lot like the New Order studio version but not quite. the film was directed by wes anderson, and it kind of made me think about hearing the clash and the ramones on "The Royal Tenebaums." anyway, i'm not sure whether to care just or to remain indifferent, what does everyone else think?

    I'm new here
Why didn't I find this community sooner?!? Anyway, my name's Dee (short for Deirdre) and I'm a HUGE JD fan. Some of my favorite tracks are:

    She's Lost Control
    Transmission
    Heart and Soul
    The Eternal
    Disorder
    Digital
    Dead Souls

JD's one of the few bands I never get tired of listening to. Just thought I'd put my two cents in. :)

    This caught my eye
I was reading the customer review of the new U2 album on amazon.co.uk because it's fun to listen to albums, form an opinion and then read up on other opinions to see what other people got from it.

This guy is blasing U2 and writes some of this thoughts on past albums. This is to with their Best of 1980-1990:

U2 1980-1991: Good Stuff, mostly because they spent half the time trying to rewrite Joy Division's 'Atmosphere', a lofty goal that produced some good and great results.

Trying to re-write "Atomosphere?" I don' think so.
