i'm feeling kinda: excited music of the moment: the darkness - i believe in a thing called love so it's a new semester, new dorm, new roommate, new location, new dining hall, new OUTLOOK ON LIFE. (that sounded good, didn't it?) seriously though, i had an awesome time last semester but i'm not quite happy, in retrospect, with some of the things i did. so i'm going to try and work on that.
queen anne's hall is AMAZING. gorgeous. (i do believe i'll be quoted in the diamondback about this, so keep an eye out for it!!) my room is huge. it's about 1.5 times bigger than the biggest room i've ever seen in a north campus dorm, which is a quad in bel air. and there's only two of us living in it!! the triples in this dorm are HUGE--they're about 3 times the size of a north campus double, so everything fits on the floor. three beds, three desks, three dressers. and plenty of extra room. the people in triples are pleasantly surprised, i think. because we're on the 3rd floor, we have a sloped ceiling on one side and an indentation where the window is. we set up comfy suede butterfly chairs and we have a ton of room in the middle of everything. we even have two HUGE lounges on our floor. and the lobby is like a hotel. really, now that our internet and hot water are working, the only negative i can think of is that we have a little less closet space than in denton, but i can deal with that. oh, and no microwaves yet in the hot water tap/sink area, but there's room and outlets for it so i guess we'll be getting them soon.
I WENT SLEDDING WITH SOPHIA YESTERDAY!!! yay for huge hills behind st. mary's hall near mckeldin. quite fun.
i met a couple of cool guys last night, regi (lives in a single in the QA basement) and nabeel (lives in carroll hall, across the street). they're both really chill, hopefully i'll get to hang out with them some more. we were talking for a while and then we watched 'anger management'. i love adam sandler.
at DG today we worked on recruitment stuff and then we had to hold another election for president. becky won, which left her position, VP programming, open. so i decided to run for that, and it was me, margaret, and michelle running. but michelle ended up not being able to, so margaret and i gave little speeches (like, right off the top of my head) and everyone voted. aaaaaaaaaand......
I WON!! :) yay! so i'm our new VP programming! i'm excited, although i'm not really 100% sure what i have to do...but i'll figure it out. :) i'm sure everyone will be really helpful.
right now hadass has some friends over; they're all really nice. sooo that's fun. it's awesome to have the space to have like 6 people in our room COMFORTABLY! :D
i'm out. love it. COME VISIT ME, UMD PEOPLE!! -xo- lindz |
