Do ya think those protestors at the Kerry events get their flip-flops from the Bush White House? "I believe individual freedom to participate in elections should be expanded, not diminished; and when individual freedoms are restricted, questions arise under the First Amendment.
I also have reservations about the constitutionality of the broad ban on issue advertising, which restrains the speech of a wide variety of groups on issues of public import in the months closest to an election. I expect that the courts will resolve these legitimate legal questions as appropriate under the law.

Individuals have a right not to have their money spent in support of candidates or causes with which they disagree, and those rights should be better protected by law. I hope that in the future the Congress and I can work together to remedy this defect of the current financing structure."
President George W. Bush March 27, 2002 on signing law H.R. 2356, the "Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002."
-----------------------------
"Speaking to reporters at his Texas ranch, Bush said he has repeatedly condemned 527 ads. These groups are named for the federal provision that makes such organizations tax exempt and allows them to accept unlimited donations.
One reporter cited the swift boat ads and asked, "When you say that you want to stop all --" "All of them," Bush responded. "That means that ad, every other ad. Absolutely. I don't think we ought to have 527s."
[...]
Bush said "unregulated soft money" of 527 groups "is wrong for the process."
The president said he "thought we'd gotten rid of that" when he signed the McCain-Feingold legislation instituting campaign finance reform."

Okay, so the power's finally back on... Like a fool, I went outside during the height of the hurricane. We're on the leeward side of the building, so I figured it was sort of safe, even though the passageway that bisects the building was literally a wind tunnel. Here's what I learned -
That thing wasn't natural, friends. That thing was some kind of beast out there. Or several. It didn't sound like wind, it sounded like wolves. Or Godzilla. Or Godzilla-wolves. Those were the sounds that Lovecraft heard in his nightmares. I'm not staying here the next time one of those things blows this way. | Friday, August 13th, 2004 | 8:53 am |

One thing in Florida's favor - we get Galavision here, so even though I don't speak the language, I get two hours of lucha libre every Saturday afternoon. Just got done watching a 20-minute trios match as good as anything that the WWE puts together...
...and it featured midgets. Two midget headhunters, one midget power ranger, one mini-Mexican wrestler, one mini-matador, and one midget ninja. Bueno! | 2:26 am |
" I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton's willingness to go into a state she doesn't even live in and pretend to represent people there. So I certainly wouldn't imitate it." - Allan Keyes Maryland resident 2000 Source: Keyes to Run Against Obama in Ill. | Friday, August 6th, 2004 | 2:49 pm |
In politics, you expect for there to be some hired guns involved in the process. What you don't expect is for them to have been hired 30 years ago... by NIXON! Richard Milhouse Nixon: Dead For A Decade - Still Haunting Us. | Friday, July 30th, 2004 | 8:08 pm |
Why isn't Kolchak: The Night Stalker out on DVD? For that matter, why didn't it run for eight seasons? | Wednesday, July 28th, 2004 | 8:25 pm |
