I'm in a good mood.
I wrote a kick-ass English test for my eleventh graders and my mentor teacher just called to say that he wanted me know I'm doing a great job. I'm glad he called. He hasn't commented on how I've been doing in awhile and I thought he thought I was slacking or sucking or something awful. It's good to know he thinks I'm doing a great job, especially since his letter of recommendation will be sealed and sent to a private file that I never get to see. Also: My 5th period class surprised me with treats today. They convinced my mentor teacher to drag me out into the hall so they could sign a card and pull out cupcakes. It was a very nice surprise. I love the card. Every single one of them wrote something really nice and sweet even though some of them act like they hate my guts sometimes. :-) I'm sad to go.

Napoleon Dyanamite (Please rate my quiz) Which Napoleon Dynamite character are you? brought to you by Quizillahah! Does Napoleon like Beck? (that's a question I answered on the quiz..I was nervous, I answered all the questions honestly and was worried I end up being one of those pouf-banged harpies...not that pouf-banged harpies like Beck...but they do like convertible BMWs) I wonder if the name Napoleon has increased in popularity over the last year... I haven't updated in a ba-gillion years! The last ba-gillion years in a nutshell: 1. I quit Outback 2. I work Mondays and Tuesdays nights in the library if you want to come say hi 3. I'm almost done student teaching (which is actually sad because I love my class and my mentor teacher) 4. The dean of the school offered me $1000 to be the schools cheerleading coach. I've never cheerlead (is that right) but the old coach quit and the dean just wants someone to supervise. The girls are currently being supervised by the dean..a gruff, large man. eek! I'm going in tomorrow to talk to the dean to hear the specifications for the job. The basketball team really sucks so I'd only have the job for a very short time...hmm pretty much it comes down to A vs. B where A = $1,000, good feeling from helpings kids, and coaching experience to go on resume and B = hate of getting up early, possible long-term commitment if the basketball team pulls it together this year, and I'D BE A CHEERLEADING COACH!!! WTF? 5. I can now knit socks 6. Life Aquatic is a very good movie that you all should run out and see right now. 7. Apparently 24, the show I have always thought was retarded, upon actual viewing is not retarded, but rather "exciting" and "good" 8. Oh, yeah, I'm 22! 9. Nick took me to my first Jamba Juice on the way home from trip to see snow in the mountains. It was delicious. I don't know what was funnier: Nick getting a "femme boost" in his drink as a joke or the guy behind the counter trying to sell us sunscreen when it was dark and snowy outside. THE END! woohoo! It is officially the Christmas Season...at least that's what the tv told me...
Seriously, I'm not ready for Christmas. It feels like it was just summer and i was searching for a house and a car and worrying about where I was going to student teach for the next three months. weird. there are only 26 days until my birthday though. that is a reality. | Sunday, November 7th, 2004 | 5:41 pm |
Life = student teaching is going well but the little spare time I have is spent with my boyfriend or watching movies rented from the sweet locally owned video store next to my house while I grade papers, so all i have to talk about is time spent with Nick and movies...I'll spare you lovey dovey gobbly gook and talk about movies: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring beautiful. This film is relaxing and moves slowly but is immensely intriguing. I only graded three papers in the two hours I spent watching it. 8 Femmes murder mystery with singing and dancing and vibrantly colored costumes and set. Oh yeah, and it's French. I also saw I ♥ Huckabees at the Metro Friday night. I loved it! Not at all like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...except for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-esque presentations of dreams and memories but I managed to look past the similarities and enjoy the story and the questions posed. oh, and it's funny. PS: I just realized that Isabelle Huppert who plays Caterine Vauban in I ♥ Huckabees is Augustine in 8 Femmes. Weird. She is fantastic. I'm going to watch a couple of her other movies and come back with a report. Kate's Homework Progress 12:52 Messed around on Livejournal rather than doing HW. Now feel guilty. Will continue homeworking now. 2:42 Shakespeare Scene Analyses going great. Am taking a break to print out some stuff I need for teaching on Monday. 4:26 stuff printed out. Shakespeare Scene Analyses are not done...eek! | 12:34 pm |
I really suck at posting. I only post when I have a large quantity of work that needs to be completed and rather than do that I journal. But then I have also been really busy lately. I'm working at the OB and in ITS and teaching high school M-R 8-4. I LOVE STUDENT TEACHING! I've only been an intern for a week but I've already taught four classes, created hw assignments, graded hw, and used the copy machine. My last internship kind of sucked and left me wondering if teaching was for me. I'm no longer worried about my choice of profession. ok, now i have to be a good student and finish my BIQ hw. Did I mention I finished my notebook for Thorpe? Thirty-Two assignments...that's about sixty pages of handwritten goodness. Granted my notebook was filled with 5.5inx8in paper, not legal size, but the idea that I created that much in so little time is insane. Now I just have to whip out two papers and 4 Shakespeare scene analyses. I think I can have the Shakespeare and one of the papers finished before I leave work today. It is 12:45, I get off at 6. I will post updates to keep myself accountable. I want to turn everything in on Monday. In other news. I have had a silent stalker all summer...I have turned off the "no anonymous posts" option so she can be a vocal anonymous stalker. HOOORAY!!! Nick was accepted into the UW Mechanical Engineering Department. I am so glad that he isn't leaving for Pullman this weekend and that we'll get to hang out together in Seattle this year! I am so happy! Today I throughly cleaned the bathroom Joe and I share. I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and i was surprised to discover that it is actually magical. I used it on the tub and the tub turned from brown to white. I used it on the shower doors. What was once frosted is now clear!!! Seriously, these things are amazing. I washed the walls in my room and it removed all of the scuffs and discoloration. I wonder how they work... Current Mood: happy | Wednesday, July 28th, 2004 | 8:02 am |
today is a good day! I have a working iPod! YAY!!! My iPod broke four months ago, the night before I got on a plane to the UK. I brought it along figuring that I could fix it once it was recharged by resetting it...NOPE! It was bizzroken. Yesterday I took it to the MAC store in UVillage expecting to drop it off and receive it in the mail months from now. Instead the process took FOREVER! First, I told someone that my iPod was broken and needed to be sent off to be fixed. He set me up with an appointment at the "Genius Bar" thirty minutes later. I went to Barnes & Noble. When I got back I met my genius at the bar and he conducted all sorts of tests. The hard drive was broken! Apparently, according to my genius, an iPod is a "mechanical device" and contains a "wheel" that "spins" and sometimes that stops working. So, he then continues to do more tests. It's been over an hour since I walked in the store and I'm wondering why he's continuing to do tests if he knows what's wrong and we're just going to throw the darn thing in a box and send it to the factory...AND THEN my genius said, "I'll be right back" and when he returned he brought me a brand new shiny scratch free iPod! Wheee! It was the best to be able to walk out with a fully functioning iPod when I expected to have to pay to have it shipped and fixed and not receive it back for a long time. To celebrate I purchased a blue iSkin to protect the new pod's perfection, a car charger, and a Belkin Tunecast II. Everything works great and I love the iSkin. I wish I'd bought one for my first iPod. Current Mood: happyCurrent Music: The Dark of the Matinee -Franz Ferdinand | Wednesday, July 21st, 2004 | 12:42 pm |

Has anyone heard the E.E Robbins "The Engagement Ring Store" radio ad that features Chris and Katie from SPU? They met at the bus stop...awwww! My favorite line in the entire ad was something along the lines of Katie knowing she and Chris were going to get engaged before Chris did. Hee-larious. Ring by Spring Girls! sometimes I wish I could go back to being three when juice and graham crackers and tadpoles were where it was at My parents were my best friends and relationships were sooo easy. $5 was an insane amount of money and not nearly as cool as a big brown cardboard box. Good Morning!!! This is Grace. Grace is an eight week old Catalan Sheepdog puppy that is in Girona Catalunya, Spain. She's going to fly to America to live with my mom and dad in two or three weeks. I am soo excited! Isn't she cute! My parents didn't think that they would get a new dog after Precious died, but with me mostly out of the house and Bill all grown up I think my mom misses taking care of something. Precious looked like a Catalan sheepdog only she was 20 lbs bigger. The new dog will be smaller and a different color but will still be very shaggy. Though she's really dark in this picture, when she grows up she will most likely be light grey with black ears. ( In other news ) Current Mood: excitedCurrent Music: Somebody Told Me -The Killers |
