Whenever you're around?
The answer is obvious!

While I'm thinking about it....
Bumbershoot - The Seattle Arts Festival, Seattle Center, Spet. 3-6, 2004I'm leaving town right after class on Friday to be in Seattle by 6pm at the latest (traffic permitting) and I'll be back late on Monday night.

You haven't heard me raving about Bumbershoot as much this year because the line-up is not that thrilling to me, but I keep hearing about how many great bands there are, so I figure I'm gonna go find me a few of them and learn something new. Certainly there are a lot of names I know, but I dont think there's any that I have ever seen live or that I own recordings of.

So why am I going? Because its frickin' Bumbershoot, man!!

ps: Feel free to look at the list and recommend some shows to me. But don't tell me about shows on Friday... I won't be there.

Thank you for the amusing responses to the little quiz in my last post.

This assignment was just practice for a related project: we will be designing actual road-signs, intended to inform would-be motorists of conditions they might actually be interested in, if only there were signs to inform them!
So that you may guess after they are done, I won't tip you off to the specific items I will be doing. I can tell you are on the edge of your seat for that!!

These three drawings are the result of an exercise we did in class today. We were given a list of words and told to pick three to express using only abstract black and white forms.
See if you can guess the words I was aiming for. Think of these as road signs: if you saw the above images as you were driving, what would you think you needed to prepare for?

A tale unlike any you have ever heard....
I just finished Prince of Persia, a game I strongly recommend for anyone that likes Legend of Zelda.

Of course its old news. Any real gamer would have already had it and finished it a year ago. I'd been waiting for the price to come down from $50 for many months and finally saw it at Shop-Ko last month for $20. I've been playing it ever since, off and on. It's highly addicting, with a great story-line, immersive visuals, and exciting gameplay that will keep you coming back for more.

I only wish there was more. I was up until about 4 am trying to finish it when I gave up and went to bed. After school I came home and 90 mins later it was done.

My Mood: geeky

More Drawings
Drawing really isn't my thing. I'm really slow so it usually takes me forever to finish something to my satisfaction. And I have no sense of proportion. However, I've been doing a lot of it lately for class, so I may as well put these out there for people to see.

Warning: Some of these are bad drawings, some are bad scans, and some are bad scans of bad drawings. Some are unfinished. In other words, there's nothing here that couldn't be improved in some way or another, but go ahead and take a look, because they aren't all terrible either.

"Hey... Since when do pencils drip red ink?!"
So I'm in class, returning from the pencil sharpener to my open sketchbook, ready to start a new drawing....
... and there's bright red blood on the clean white paper! I just bought this sketchbook yesterday and already some asshole is bleeding on it!

Wait!

I wonder.... Could it be my blood? Hmm... there's blood on my fingers too! What the hell?!
Hey.... I'm bleeding!!!!! Ahhhh!!!

Ok.... calm down.... nobody panic!! It seems to be just a paper-cut.

And of course its right on the part of the finger where band-aids refuse to grip.

I had a few weird dreams last night.

One I dont remember much about, except that there was a cute girl flirting with me. Like the kind of flirting you might think I would have to pay for. I only wish I could remember who it was, because I think it was someone I actually know.

In another dream, a friend and I argued as we drove around a town that was half Seattle and half Yakima. I probably need to apologize to this friend, but I am not sure what that would accomplish.

The third dream is the weirdest one.
I was driving with a couple freinds in my Jeep in Texas on a hot day. Damn hot, real hot, hot enough you could cook things on it.
Don't know where we were going or where we had come from, but there were 3 of us, with all the windows open and all our stuff piled in with us.
And then suddenly it started to rain. Hard.
And for some reason the roof of my Jeep was leaking, so this very warm rain was getting me all wet, like a shower, except I don't like to shower while I'm driving.
I pulled over and went into a house or something (to make a phone call, I guess), and when I came out the rain had turned into snow. I'm talking a couple of feet of snow... in just a few minutes.... enough that, although I could drive in it, it wasn't really safe, so I pulled over again.... right before I woke up.

Anyone that does dream analysis may feel to tell me what this all means.
