7:33 pm - beaded mask...

pokethedeadkat
Here's my weekend project~! A rather silly thing to take on, considering I have little to no experience with a) maskmaking b) beading c) wire sculpture. But a smaller project than beaded wings... which I still intend to make...

more pics )

I used three gauges of wire and beads I had laying around. I was going to make it attachable to my face... but it was turning my fingers black, so I made the stick part. I'm going to buy more wire and better beads and make another one + wings. Yay!

x-posted to my blog, craftgrrl, and faeriefashion

1:02 pm - Livejournal auction?

perverseangelic
Hey, all, remember this tiara and this tiara?

In an attempt to earn money for the corset and tattoo I am lusting after, I'd very much like to sell these. I'm proud of them, but also like income ;)

Sea Queen is glass beads and steel wire, lots of both, and I'd like to ask 20$ for it.
Ice Princess is the same materials, and hopefully the same price.

(Prices based on sheer time and materials invested)

I can provide other pictures, soon-ish, but my digital camera is currently without batteries.

If you're interested, please let me know here or e-mail me at perverseangelic @ yahoo.com If 20$ is unreasonable to you, please tell me what you think is reasonable. While I doubt there'll be serious competition or anything, I will, of course, sell it to the person who's willing to pay the most (god I feel mercenary :) )

I also have a -large- copper and amber bead tiara and a small purple/blue/white bead and silver wire one that I'll eventually want to sell.

9:34 am - tiara for sale

lttle_red_lotus
I made another tiara, I'm probably going to sell it on ebay. But first, I'd like to see if anybody is interested here first. I'm asking $16 for it. I've searched on google to find a price range, and most of the wire tiaras start at $50 so i don't think $16 + shipping is too bad.

this tiara can be worn as a headband as well. for this tiara, i used 18 gauge two strands of copper wire and twisted them together, then i used a strand of 20 gauge wire and twisted it around to make it more stable. then i used swavorski crystal beads and fresh water pearls.
i've also created a website for my future items:

i found a website that sells wire tiaras, and i don't want to be mean, but i think mine looks a little better. she's charging $77.00 for this one.

I believe I mentioned making a leprechaun coat a while back. For those of you that are curious, I pretty much made it on Saturday night into early Sunday morning. I went to Jo-Anne's and bought two fabrics: a beigish pale-yellow and an olive green. They're both linen. I used the yellowy colored cloth for the lining and the olive green for the finished outside (naturally). I also got some nice wooden buttons for the cuffs and for down the front. I finished everything but the buttons on the front and the collar on the inside needs to be hand-sewn. The coat itself also needs a firm ironing to give it the crisp look it's currently lacking. Due to the pain-in-the-arse it would have been to take pictures of the coat, I have not yet done so. I would also prefer it to be a bit more finished. I'll have to go home some other weekend and put on the finishing touches and take come pictures of it flat and worn. I had a tough time deciding what I wanted to do with the cuffs (I had to improvise a bit) and I used a sleeve from another pattern to get them the way I wanted and had to make my own pattern so I could fold the cuff back and have green showing, not the pale yellow (if that makes sense, you win a cookie... if not, join the club). I'm actually quite happy with the way the coat turned out. It has two long tails, a high waist, and kind of bloused-out sleeves at the shoulder. I really wish taking pictures and putting them on my computer were easier than it is otherwise you wouldn't be left in the dark about all this. The pattern itself was an Uncle Sam design from a Patriotic pattern costume pack that I got. I think it's either Simplicity or some other company starting with an F for some reason, though I could be completely wrong. I'm going to write it down now to take pictures of the finished leprechaun coat ASAP. That's my project update. Tune in next time to see Jake decked out like a leprechaun and prancing like a faerie! (Take that as you like) Until next time, viewers...

8:39 pm - fairy tiaras

lttle_red_lotus
hello, my fellow fae folk <3 i finished my tiaras this weekend. keep in mind that they're my first ever so forgive the sloppyness please. they're both practice/prototype tiaras so i can get good at it before i work on my big project. too bad i don't know what they should be called...suggestions? i'd like to thank [info]perverseangelicfor the wonderful tutorial it was a MAJOR help for the first tiara. *warning, lots of pictures*

faux pearl tiara )

this tiara took me forever...well maybe a day. i first tried to use 22 gauge wire, but it hurt my fingers so i used 28 gauge wire. i used copper wire, pearl beads and some amythest colored seed beads

i made another tiara/headband thingy yesterday, it took me about 3 hours to make.

crystal tiara )

i'm taking this tiara apart to make a better looking one, this one was just for practice. its made out of 28 gauge copper wire, black fresh water pearls, and different colored swarovski crystal beads. i spent lots n' lots of money on these crystals. i'm probably gonna add some pearls to cover up the copper, and some green crystal beads and shape them like leaves.

12:13 pm - i need a corset.

kerosenecoyote
hey there, faeriefashion community. i've got a favor to ask of y'all, if you please.

i'm getting married, and i plan on designing or putting together my own wedding dress. i would like it to be faerie-like, with wings and a flower crown. my color theme is going to be green and black. now, my idea was to buy a corset, and then sew my own layered tulle skirt to match. (i've done this before, with my prom outfit, and it worked out beautifully.) i can get everything else together easily, except for the corset. it's giving me some troubles.

the biggest problem is, i can't find a single damned website that sells GREEN corsets. the only colors they come in are black, red, purple, blue, and pink. (with heavy emphasis on black and red.) i did find ONE website that custom-makes corsets, and they had one green fabric available, but their corsets cost around $300. i'd kinda like something a bit less expensive. i'd also like to avoid using animal-based fabrics, as well... meaning no silk or leather.

i know, i know. i'm making this as hard as possible, aren't i? x__x;

i've already googled for corsets, and i've come up empty. so i'm asking if anyone knows of a site or store where they've seen a green corset, or even someone you know who can make a corset for less than $300, please tell me. it will be greatly appreciated. ESPECIALLY appreciated would be information on more frilly, faerie-like corsets. not just fetish/club wear.

thanks, all. :3
