"I walked to the luminescence" Isn't it wonderful how the sweetest agony is that which we ourselves create? I amaze myself with each day passing by how I allow my mind to speak for my heart. Thoughts have NO business meddling in such affairs . . . I burn inside-out, flames growing higher and more hot the more the Truth in my soul is denied it's turn to speak.
Strange, despite my efforts, that I can still see my predictability. Such hypocrisy . . . a mon-dane, frustrating constant at battle within. The reflection speaks up more than anyone . . . what the hell are you doing? You always know what leads to where; You're aware of that gift!
Stalling, my best "quality".
An unexpected Light glows bright, shines, revealing a new passage in my underground maze. Most times I like the Dark . . . aware that there is a lacking of candles or matches of my own to burn, day after day; the lighter's conserved for my cigarettes. See, here I know I am alone, solitary by choice.
Yet, curiosity of the adventure moved me towards that door. That decision broke the routine I'd "settled" in . . . starting with just the incentive of entertainment, I stayed so long my eyes adjusted to the light. Holding the lantern, She told me about wanting to see what was down there. Smiling, I replied it was only me . . . and there was nothing worthwhile for sight.
My hand reached out to tug at the tattered sweatshirt She wore. "follow me 'cuz there's so much more to do, endless sights to see, and memories to make most could never fathom. Don't ask me where I'm headed, because I never know until I get there" I say.
A genuine smile, and inability to meet with my eyes said it all . . .
I strolled to a Light that was ready to see what a Dark had in store; fuck a map; and if the light fails soon, well now I'm not going to be afraid of new surroundings . . . We'll be lost together, laughing down dead-ends, linking arms through short-cuts, and tell stories, or get lost in unspoken understandings and intrigue.
Snap Back, we're at the door; oh, how I love that neither one is reaching out to turn the knob.
Where now? Unanswered again . . .

Uber frustration.... Despite several attempts, I can't get my Audio Catalyst to work using ASPI. I've tried four different versions of ASPI, and AudioCatalyst has yet to see any one of them. Doesn anyone know of a way to get this fixed? This is the only CD ripper I've ever trusted, and it works hella fast on other builds I've used. | 12:39 pm [elcapitane]

I don't know why, but it didn't hit me until just now that I've got something going right now. Six months ago, I had only ever built computers for one person other than myself, to now, building a computer for my sisters wedding, and having my cousin ask me to build one for her. Just today I had my neighbor asking me to build her a computer, and this past weekend, my sister and I talked about building a computer for her mother in law. For those keeping tabs, that's four new computers, and that doesn't include the one I just finished for myself, Stone Cold. It also doesn't include the multitude of requests I've had to come out and fix existing computers, get them set up, etc. With all this, I'm really considering opening up a separate checking account just to deal with computers, and using that money to help suppliment my own income, which isn't that bad right now to begin with, especially since starting next pay period, I'm getting a 20% raise at my job. | Saturday, October 9th, 2004 | 3:49 am [celestial_haze]

"under observation" Another moment spent; one more minute past me by and disappointment sets in eating away at my Pride. I now feel distant, outside of some "perspective"; on the outside of all this, detached and watching. It's safe here . . . to still follow the plot yet look out from behind this one way mirrored window where I can breathe. Maybe you've misunderstood . . . felt misunderstood so many times Reminders to me every day that Love is something too many people have abused . . . and it's all fucked up. I like to play games too, but you play with people. A chess piece with a soul. Knock off another pawn so you can get to your King . . . 'cuz there's a fine line between love and hate and just one slight move from heart to heart-break. Healing is painful, I see it in your eyes and I've worn those same shoes in another place when Hurt hit just as hard I felt I would implode just at first glance. Data protection failures Seeing as how where I work has apparently just prevented the use of USB flash drives, presumably for "security reasons", I was thinking about compiling a list of all the ways that one could remove sensitive data from a company, and possible preventive measures. The ones that immediately come to mind: 1. put it on a floppy - remove floppy drives from all machines 2. burn it on a CD - remove CD burners and, for good measure, ban CDs from the workplace. No, you can't bring your Discman in. And as for iPods... they're little white piracy machines, Steve Ballmer said so. Anyone owning one should be carefully investigated. 3. write it down on a bit of paper - who needs paper in this age of the paperless office? (ho ho) Ban all paper, or if any paper is required, have it electronically tagged with built-in RFID devices that set fire to it if it's taken outside the building. Oh, and ban pens, which are definite security hazards and can be used as weapons. 4. write it down on a body part - compulsory strip search on leaving the premises 5. email it to someone - ban all external email, or have every piece of external email read by security staff 6. upload it via FTP or a web interface - ban the internet generally, load of time-wasting productivity-sapping nonsense anyway. All you need to know is on the company intranet site. Mmm. 7. memorise it - the potential menace of photographic memory is immense for the security-conscious corporation. All visitors and workers should have to fail a memory test before being allowed in (sometimes I think this has already been implemented). Chemicals that disrupt short-term memory should be introduced into the water supply and drinks machines. 8. repeat it over the phone - monitor all calls, restrict dialling to internal extensions only. A catch-all solution to a lot of this would be for all companies to simply require that all staff live inside the site and don't communicate with anyone outside of it. Hey, if you don't want a job, you don't have to take it, right? | Tuesday, October 5th, 2004 | 8:36 pm [andthewaves]

old network So I have this old network, that was installed in 1997 that has been mostly 10mb for years, and last year, we replaced our main wiring rack with 2 HP Procurve 4000 i think, which are sopposed to 10/100. We have about 300 comp on this network. So from the main wiring rack we have about 6 smaller racks that only have about 24 ports on them. but their sopposed to be 10/100 as well. And all the connections show 100 traffic. But when I try to using drive imaging software over the network it totally shuts down the network, all traffic lights go solid. and everyones traffic stops. The ghost does finish, but seems slower. So what I have found I have to do in each lab I have to un hook my uplink to the main rack, and just plug in my ghost server, into a hub in the room, and do the imaging with out being connected to the main network. Why is this? Do I need to set up vlans or somehting? | Friday, October 1st, 2004 | 7:28 pm [twrex10]

anyone know of a good free swf -> movie file converter? (mov, mpeg, avi) i've found a few and they work fine except for the fact that they leave a nasty watermark unless you pay like $30 which i don't want to do as i just wanna do this one time... floppies My friend is having a problem (a bunch) with her comp. Here's her question: what could possibly happen that a floppy drive wouldn't accept disks that work fine elsewhere?
She's running WinXP Home edition at home and not sure what she has at school, but it's NYU.. so I'm assuming it's either 2000 or XP Pro. Though, I don't think it would be an OS compatibility issue...
Anyone have any idea?
Thanks

ISP question My ISP (Comcast) says that users aren't supposed to run any servers on our lines, but I'm just running a small (10 user) shoutcast server and hosting one site, just for the stream. I don't plan on hardly any traffic for either, so my question is, will comcast be able to tell I'm running it, will they care, and will they automatically ban me?
On a similar note, could anyone run the shoutcast server for us? We would eventually like to expand. I and all the DJs will love you forever, and you can be a part of the station. We've got a couple of people from Kaotic, so it's not completely newbie run. | Sunday, September 26th, 2004 | 10:43 pm [eliset]

Hard drives? So, I'm pondering getting a hard drive or two for my server - mainly so I can use it to back up some files and data in addition to what it's doing now. However, I know nothing about hard drive brands.
So - what do you use? What do you like? Which hard drives have good prices, as well as reliability? | 1:50 am [h4xor]

Multiple Instances? Is there a general way to make programs run more than one instance for those that don't like to? This is on Windows 2000, by the way. Yeah, and if there is no general means of doing so, does anyone know how I would get the Ragnarok Online client to allow that? Thanks. | 12:02 pm [geekychick1]
