| ROCK legends New Order are to play at this summer's T in the Park. The Manchester band's performance was the highlight of the Shockwaves NME awards bash last week.
Scots are to be among the first to see the group back in action.
Despite this summer's T in the Park festival selling out in record time, the latest big name act on the bill is down to festival boss Geoff Ellis's determination to provide the best ever line-up in the event's 12-year history.
He admitted he is close to signing the deal with New Order to play the festival in July.
'It's true I'm in talks with a number of bands for this summer's bill and we're very close to completing a deal to bring New Order to T in the Park for the first time,' said Geoff. |

| New Order has been confirmed today for the [b]Hurricane Festival[/b] and the [b]Southside Festival[/b] which will be from June 10th to June 12th 2005.

| New Order has been oficially confirmed to be part of the [b]Primavera Festival[/b] in Spain, which will be the last week of May, the 26th, 27th and 28th.
Don't know yet which day New Order will be playing.
Some of the other bands playing will be Gang of Four, Iggy and the Stooges, Sonic Youth, the Human League and Tortoise. |

| In 1974, teenage Salford scooter-boys Peter Hook and Bernard Dicken - who would later change his surname first to Albrecht, and finally to Sumner - went to see Deep Purple play at the Manchester Free Trade Hall. There's something rather unlikely about the idea of a pair of suedeheads ("We weren't thugs or anything; we didn't go around beating people up," Sumner insists, before embarking on a lengthy anecdote about a fellow Lambretta enthusiast called Lance, who was later sent to prison for stealing a double-decker bus) going to a heavy rock concert. Though they didn't know it then, it would be just such apparent contradictions that would sustain them through a career which incorporates as fine a balance of tragedy and fun as any other in the rock'n'roll pantheon. |

| NEW ORDER have been crowned GODLIKE GENIUSES at this year’s SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS.
Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris were present to collect their award which not only celebrates their own constantly innovative and exciting approach to music, but also the influence the Manchester band have had on acts across the musical spectrum.
Formed in 1976 as Warsaw, with original singer Ian Curtis the band quickly became Joy Division, and though their recorded output was extremely limited their brutal and challenging post punk left a distinctive and lasting impression.
Evolving into New Order after Curtis’ suicide in 1980, the band were pioneers and delivered a series of anthems including ’Blue Monday’, ’Truth Faith’ and ’Ceremony’ that have being embraced as lasting classics in both the dance and rock circles, with bands including Franz Ferdinand, Chemical Brothers, Interpol, The Killers and The Bravery citing them as an important influence.
Accepting their God Like Genius award singer Bernard Sumner said: "I'd like to thank the rest of the band for putting up with my ego."
Bassist Peter Hook also thanked the late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.
Sumner added: "Thank you everyone and we are honoured to get this award. I'd like to thank NME - the NME helped us out when we were just starting out and twenty years old."
New Order then took to the stage to play a four song live set which featured ‘Crystal' (dedicated to The Killers), new single 'Krafty', 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and ’Blue Monday'. |

The video is directed by swedish director Johan Renck aka Stakka, who directed the 2001 video [b]Crystal[/b].

| Of the 18 tracks for New Order's 'Waiting for the Sirens', seven will go into the vault for future use.
"We usually do just enough for an album, ten songs and it's done. The seven tracks left off 'Sirens'' are so strong that they are likely to form the basis of a future LP" says Bernard Sumner.
The title track is wistful and sublime, considered by the band to be one of the best tracks they've ever made. Then there's the perfect pop of "Jetstream" (Bernard's vocals augmented by Scissor Sister Ana Matronic); the wry, hilarious regret of "Morning Night And Day," "I Told You So"'s reckless ragga lope; the Iggy stomper "Working Overtime," and the anthemic, tuneful "Hey Now What You Doing." "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" is the diverse, devastating, delicious sound of a great band at its peak.
The album features multiple producers including Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths), John Leckie (Pink Floyd, Stone Roses), Stuart Price (Madonna) and New Order themselves.
Their follow-up to 2001's 'Get Ready' will be released on April 12. |

| Michael Eavis has confirmed that Kylie Minogue, the White Stripes and New Order will all play at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
There had been much speculation that the Australian pop princess would be appearing at this year's festival, but Michael Eavis has now let slip that it's more than just a rumour!
In an interview with a reporter from the Wells Journal, the Glastonbury guru said Kylie will play the final slot on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night. He also confirmed that the White Stripes and New Order will be playing.
"Those people who might come along on Sunday to see Kylie Minogue might not enjoy New Order or the White Stripes, so we have something for everyone," he told the Journal. |

| They're almost rock pensioners but New Order have gone back to basics for their new album.
New Order are the band that just won't go away. When Ian Curtis took his own life and Joy Division fell apart they re-emerged as New Order and, through thick and thin, have been around ever since.
Now they're back on the scene with a new single (Krafty) and upcoming album (Waiting For the Siren's Call).
But can they ever top World in Motion? Or Blue Monday?
The Beat's Dean Jackson, from BBC Radio Nottingham, has been talking to Peter Hook and Stephen Morris. During the interview they discuss:-

| T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis is currently also in talks with bands Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Feeder, Kasabian and The Chemical Brothers among others.
He hopes to persuade New Order to make a special visit north of the border for the festival, too.
Also tipped to play are 1980s trio The Cocteau Twins. |

"He has Madonna on his speed dial and a day job in her band, and New Order liked his take on their trademark sound so much they hired him to work on their new album. Yes, life is good when you are Jacques Lu Cont.
Born in Paris but bearing the far less glamorous name of Stuart Price, he moved to Britain and spent the 1990s reliving his love of the 80's, in particular Human League and New Order. He signed to dance label Wall of Sound in 1994 when he was only 17 as frontman of Les Rythmes Digitales...
Price has just found himself some more high-profile friends: [b]New Order[/b]. They heard the very New Order-esque Jacques Lu Cont remix of Gwen Stefani's What you waiting for when Stefani played it to them while New Order's Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook were working on her album. Price admits he was going for 'something more like Stevie Nicks' Stand Back' but it turned into a New Order vibe. Sumner was impressed and flattered.
He rang me and said: We're finishing the New Order album and there are a couple of songs we want you to work on, so I ended up producing two tracks, Price says. One track is fairly similar in style to the Gwen mix, except it has Bernard on vocals. The other is like a great New Order pop record, like True Faith or Regret, and I got Ana Matronic from the Scissor Sisters to do vocals and it's ended up almost a duet between her and Bernard.
Price says working with his heroes, New Order, was eye-opening. I realised that in basically every song I've ever written I've ripped off Bernard Sumner in every single way possible when it comes to vocal melodies. We'd go over vocal parts and I'd think, Er, that's exactly what I would have done here. All those early New Order singles like Temptation through to True Faith, as a 15 year old kid, they had such a massive impact on me without me even realising it.
But Price is uninspired by the current trend to revisit the 80s. |

| Formed in 1980 by the remaining members of Joy Division after singer Ian Curtis committed suicide, Manchester's New Order have been a chart presence ever since. Blue Monday, from 1983, is the biggest-selling 12" single of all time. Their electronics, guitars, heart and soul have also made them one of the most influential bands of all time. From Kylie to Bloc Party to the Others, most of this year's pop carries New Order's musical DNA.
London-based Bloc Party have been tipped as "this year's Franz Ferdinand", having already graced the cover of NME. Their past two singles - Little Thoughts and Helicopter - have gone Top 40. New release So Here They Are should finally transform them from hip contenders to household names. |

| Peter Hook has been booked for 3 DJ sets in Greece by greek DJ George Fakinos.
On March 18th, Peter Hook will be in Patra, the club needs to be confirmed.
On March 19th, Peter Hook will be in Athens, at the Underworld Club.
On March 20th, Peter Hook will be in Thessaloniki, at the Arthouse.
Peter will be also "launching" the new New Order album before time at those 3 dates. |

| New Order have got a whole lot of beef of their chests about a collaboration with Gwen Stefani.
Speaking to MTV News, the Mancunian icons explained that Stefani approached them about collaborating on a track, they eventually accepted, and now they very much regret it. "Gwen sent us a track she felt was a bit New Order-like, and I did some backing vocals on it and Hooky played some bass," said Bernard.
But that was the last the boys heard from Ms Stefani, they went on to reveal, even after a version of their work appeared on her album. And are they pleased with the finished product? "It's shite," said Hooky.
"It was an insult! To do all that work and then to get completely ignored - I was lead down the garden path and then shagged when I got to the end of it."
