Down the Rabbit Hole Post **This post is for Rabbit Hole Day:: This is in honor of Lewis Carrol's birthday.. Go nuts and make up a story of what your imaginary life is like and post it in a public LJ post. (or a friends-only post if you prefer). ------ Today the sky is a beautiful shade of purple, and pink sparkles are falling from it that are warm to the touch and make you feel fuzzy inside. They glisten for a few minutes on the ground, melt all the snow away suddenly, and then disappear, leaving a warm glow on the ground. Spring flowers rise up about half way through the day and children go outside and play hopscotch in their driveways. It's warm and about 65 degrees, although it's still the middle of winter.
When I took my dog outside, she was able to levitate and fly. I had to be careful not to be under her when she went potty. LOL! I saw the neighbors dog levitating, too, and noticed that horses were flying around in the sky joyfully, as well. I must devise new protective headgear to deal with the falling projectiles that might occur. I need to learn how to levitate and fly, too!
I received a phone call that my first book is going to be published and I will receive a contract for it in the mail with a 50% advance payment plus a full year to write the book and royalties on top of that. The publisher has asked for rights to the next two books in the series, too! I have some clients that wish to have me come teach them Shamballa, too. They wish to fly me all expenses paid to their homes. One is in Egypt and the other is in Japan. Yay!
My mother sent me two plane tickets to Hawaii and a big check to cover expenses for a trip for my partner and I. We are so much in love and very happy together. We plan to get married and honeymoon while we're there. I can't wait to share the beauty of this tropical paradise with him. We'll be going at the end of February.

Mammals and Dinosaurs - Science News History being discovered to be different than scientists have believed. The bones of a baby dinosaur have just been found in the belly of a mammal from the Cretacious period. This is astonishing because they didn't think any mammals were predators for any of the dinosaurs. A mammal the size of a dog (about 3 feet long) has been found, too. This one is 20 times the size of any mammals previously found. Here's the article about it: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/01/12/belly.of.the.best.ap/index.html | Friday, August 27th, 2004 | 4:11 pm |
Friends' list purge **public post**
I just did a big friends' list purge. I posted a note about that a week ago, but I know not everyone saw it. I may have cut a little too deeply. If you were cut, but have been reading or want to be added back, just let me know by writing me at angelovernh at livejournal.com and I'll probably add you back or at least give you an explanation. | Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004 | 2:43 pm |

Life Saving Stuff (public post)
The following info. is from "Oprah", based on the Lifetime show "What Should You Do". I never watch stuff like this, and it's just a coincidence that I ended up seeing it, so I'm going to share what I learned. God, I hope none of you end up in such a situation, but maybe it will help someone.
If your car plunges into a river or lake: To get out.. roll down window ASAP. Electric windows should still work if you're floating. Break window if you can't open it. If the car sinks and you can't get the window open, wait until the car is full of water up to your neck - because then the pressure inside and outside the car will be almost equal and you'll have better chance of being able to open the door. Then release seat belt, open the door and get out. Swim to the surface as quickly as possible.
If you're car-jacked and taken hostage: Don't let the attacker take you to second location - because that is where they will most likely try rape or kill you in a place of greater privacy. Struggle sooner. Escape as soon as possible. If you're put into the trunk, realize there is a trunk release inside. Older cars have the release on a cable. Under the mat is usually a depression with a catch you can release. You can also pull wires to disconnect rear lights - which a cop might notice. Use anything to break out the rear lights and throw things out the opening, stick your fingers/hand out and hope someone will notice. If you ever see a hand sticking out of a trunk, or see the rear lights suddently break, call 911 and note the license plate and car make/model.
If you're in a hostage situation: Think as rationally as possible. Make a plan. If you are pretty sure they won't be letting you go and intend to kill, do anything you can to get out. Take attacker by surprise. Go for a low tackle. Use anything you can find as a weapon. If you get them to the ground, press knee into back of their neck. Go for the eyes.
To avoid a rape situation: Avoid going up to groups of strangers alone, especially groups of men drinking. Fight back as soon as you sense something is wrong. Draw attention to yourself. Disable attacker.. go for the eyes so you can get away. Don't run in a straight line if he has a gun. Oh yes, and if you're actually around their exposed genitals, grab the balls and squeeze for dear life.
If you have to deliver your own baby: Take the head and gently pull out.. Make sure you or someone catches the baby. Use dry clean cloth to wipe fluid from baby's face - mouth and nose. Hold baby on their stomach and gently rub up and down the spine and/or lightly flick the bottom of baby's feet rather than spanking baby - to help them breathe. Tie off the umbilical cord to stop blood flow between mom and baby, but don't cut it unless you've clamped it in two places and cut in between those. You can use a shoestring, hair clip, elastic, clothespin, strip of cloth, or even tie a knot in the cord if you have nothing available.
Overdosing on vitamins: Kids can die from iron overdose - from taking too many children's vitamins. Many kids think they're candy and may eat them in large quantities. Don't call the vitamins candy when trying to get kids to take them! Don't let kids keep the bottle of vitamins in their room. Instead, dispense vitamins to child one a day and keep the bottle out of reach. Call poison control if you think your child has taken too many. You only have about 4 hours to do kelation to prevent iron from being absorbed and killing child if they have taken too many. Make sure grandparents put their medications out of reach as many children die from drug overdose when visiting grandparents. | Wednesday, January 21st, 2004 | 9:00 am |
Trivia Question Answer - Emperor Qin's Terra Cotta Army... Emperor Qin's terra cotta army is guarding his tomb in Xi'an, China.
The following people got that it was in Xi'an aka Shaanxi, in China: leona_roja, pheromone - who's actually been there!), tweekie, and another friend who got the answer in an IM, but may want to remain anon. leona_roja knew that was the tomb of Emperor Qin, and told me that the poll entry space wasn't big enough for that info. Whoops! Thanks for playing those who did! Since it seems to be largely unknown, here's more info. I found it quite interesting! The future Emperor Qinshihuang was only 13 when he became King of the state of Qin (approx. 221-207 BC), and ordered the creation of the warriors to guard his future tomb. Many artisans gave their whole lives to the creation of this legacy. Currently about 8000 of the terracotta warriors have been unearthed, but many more are expected to be still underground in the main tomb, which has yet to be discovered. Of note - every warrior statue is unique in facial expression and other ways such as the pattern on the breastplaste and the hand positions. Emperor Qinshihuang, as he was also known, was a tyrant who changed the world. By the time he was 38, he had conquered the six neighboring warring states of China and unified them into one country, becoming the first Emperor of China. As part of this process, he standardized the language into a common script, as well as standardizing the measurement and monetary systems, codifying their legal system, and replacing the tradition of heredity ruling to a centrally appointed system. He encouraged agricultural reform and had many roads built. Then to prevent barbarian invasions, he supervised the building of the First Great Wall of China. Dear Crest Quality Control My tube of toothpaste split. It's nearly full and pretty much unusable now due to this split. The seam separated up near the top and toothpaste squeezed out this hole, which is now about 2.5 inches long. For the record, it is Crest - Baking Soda and Peroxide Whitening with Tartar Protection - Fresh Mint. I'm debating writing to their quality control. I do not want to have to mail the tube, though. Do you think I can just take a picture and email it to them along with a letter or would I have to send it? I have never had or heard of this problem happening before. Have you? Is it fairly common? | 3:56 am |
