Yeah yeah, washed the cat... He was starting to get a little stinky, and if our little boy is going to be hanging around us he really needed his bath.
This weekend our goal was to eat to places where we'd never eaten together before.
Friday Night: Nichol's in Marina del Rey. Good food, but we were left dry by the waiter. Good fish.
Saturday Afternoon: Aunt Kizzy's Back Porch. Marina del Rey. Good ol' Southern (Louisiana?) cookin'. Good food, good service. Excellent chicken and dumplings.. the hush puppies were to DIE for and I swear there was some sort of cheesy filling inside.
Saturday Night: The Kettle in Manhattan Beach. Good food. Excellent service. A ton of cute young 20-somethings all over. (Okay at midnight on a Saturday night, could be high school students too? Or college kids? Either way WTF are they doing in Manhattan Beach on a Saturday night? Is there a college near by?)
The Sole... Well it was okay, but as I prefer trout or salmon for my fishy desires, there was just something off about it. Maybe the meat was too squishy, I dunno. Excellent service, as I said, and I tipped accordingly. (20% rounded up). Had a little walk down to the Manhattan Beach pier (there were some clubs on the way so maybe that's why lots of kids were out)... and saw some pretty big waves crashing on the ocean lit by the lights on the pier. Pretty cool, all things considered.
Sunday Afternoon: Shax Burger... or something like that. A little hole in the wall near the place where I hand washed the Rav4. The turkey burger was pretty good as was the thick steak fries... Might not eat there again though, just "eh" on the atmosphere (a little color TV blaring some basketball crap) and well.. if I want burgers there's other places I can go.
Sunday Night... well we at at home so that doesn't count. :)
Oh yeah. Watched a few episodes of DS:9 and remembered why I liked the "Babe" on that show. :) |
