Wow I had three days off there... but no more. I worked a double shift yesterday and the day shift today..and I work tomorrow...and..you don't want to know my boring work schedule. What did I come on here to say?

University is looming.
I just made a yummy fruit salad.
Triscuits are the crackers of the gods.
I miss the drumming circle.

By the by, Jo, Ruth(bang's drum)'s daughter works at the Devonshire.
I told her I liked her goddess necklace and she said I was the first person to know what it was. She asked how I knew, and I went on about life and mentioned drumming. She asked if I knew her mother Ruth, and I started clapping and chanting "Ruth! Ruth! Ruth!"

ha. good times.
I hope the results of your ultrasound are good. Good health to you hun.
*hugs*

And for goodness sakes call me next time you go to drumming so we can go together. (I don't know if you work sundays?)

And Damien, when you're coming to Wellington (well, not to see wayne, but other times), call me, and bring Alysson. We shall try to sink the canoe.

All I do is work. And go to Lee's about once a week, and out to the movies with him maybe once a week. Oh man, the other day we went on this FOUR GODDAMN HOUR HIKE half way around Lake on the Mountain. I mean it was lovely...but it was hot. And yes, I threw off my clothes and jumped in the lake. He said it was cold, that nut, so I splashed him. muahahaha.

I'm stinky from work and I need a shower, but I must go cut the grass first.

Goodnight all.

The blackout that left 50 million North Americans without power in August 2003 had an unexpected benefit - the air became cleaner.

"Sulphur dioxide levels decreased by 90 per cent, there was around half the amount of ozone and visibility [over Pennsylvania ] increased by 40 kilometres"

Interesting.

"Progress has never been a bargain...you have to pay for it. Sometimes I think there's a man who sits behind a counter and says, 'You can have a telephone but you lose privacy and the charm of distance. Madame, you may have the vote but at a price. You lose the right to retreat behind your powder puff and your petticoat. Mister, you may conquer the air but the birds will lose thier wonder and the clouds will smell of gasoline."

Let’s hear it for Darwin!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I swear I cannot understand how the title "All Stars" managed to get handed to these guys. Rob and Amber have a power of two? Great... and in every game EVER they have had to work hard to break up power bases like that... but what do these guys do? When Lex, Kathy, Jerri, and Shi-Useless are faced with an Immunity Loss do they fry the outsider? Do they zap Amber and thereby render Rob a useless turd that will make plenty of anger-inspired-mistakes? No... The don’t even shove Shi-Useless out... they toss Mr. Ed. ??????? I mean, nobody in their right mind would vote for Jerri to win the money... so she’s a great choice to take to the end or close to it anyways... but no. They fry Jerri and they suck Robs cock like a bunch of ten dollar hookers in Times Square so he can get his hands on her when they merge. What complete morons. I mean, it’s not like I’m complaining.... I’d rather see Amber over Jerri any day of the week... but this is a game for a million dollars. Bah!

I had music in my dreams last night.
Beautiful music, a hallelujah.

I woke up thinking, wow I'm something special to think up that, but then I realized it's from Shrek.

I don't have music in my dreams that often and when I do it's amazing.
I had the best sleep. It could've been longer, but it was deep.

ah yes, here it is )

So everyone watch Shrek tonight on CTV and listen to the scene as Fiona prepares for the wedding and it flashes between her and Shrek alone in his swamp.

Choose Something Like a Star

O Star (the fairest one in sight),
We grant your loftiness the right
To some obscurity of cloud-
It will not do to say of night,
Since dark is what brings out your light.
Some mystery becomes the proud.
But to the wholly taciturn
In your reserve is not allowed.
Say something to us we can learn
By heart and when alone repeat.
Say something! And it says, 'I burn.'
But say with what degree of heat.
Talk Fahrenheit, talk Centigrade.
Use Language we can comprehend.
Tell us what elements you blend.
It gives us strangely little aid,
But does tell something in the end
And steadfast as Keats' Eremite,
Not even stooping from its sphere,
It asks a little of us here.
It asks of us a certain height,
So when at times the mob is swayed
To carry praise or blame too far,
We may choose something like a star
To stay our minds on and be staid.
-Robert Frost

argh piece of crap ottawa u.
i emailed the department of music asking about the departmental scholarships they had listed on their website. I wanted to know how I could get application forms, or whether they were all automatic consideration ones.

I worded it like a smart girl, don't worry.

And they emailed me back with some crappy line "click on the title of the scholarship to learn more about it".....you think i didn't do that? Thanks for calling me a moron and then not answering my question. Essentially...bastards!

My french exam took forever because she wanted us to write out EVERY sentence in the one-mark grammar questions. So a five minute task took fifteen. dumb.
I spent the afternoon killing people with cannibals and other creatures, and of course being killed once I had people in my movie... yes.

more about Cold Mountain [24 Jan 2004|06:29pm]
[ music | Never Far Away - Jack White ]

"The soundtrack gets a boost from the presence of garage rock's auteur du jour, Jack White, who has built a career on musical authenticity and who keeps that vitality intact here. The disc opens with his mournful take on the traditional folk standard Wayfaring Stranger, tastefully accompanied by sparse fiddle, mandolin and threadbare acoustic guitar.

White -- who also appears in the film, where he met current girlfriend Renée Zellweger -- maintains that honesty through his five cuts, all of them album highlights. Skeptics who have chalked up the White Stripes' proclivity for old sounds as a calculated conceit might finally grasp the reality of the situation: The 28-year-old musician has a genuine devotion to the stuff that came before him.

If nothing else, his Cold Mountain work confirms that his musical brain is brewing with more than the gritty guitar licks and howling garage vocals that have turned him into an international luminary. "

Wayfaring Stranger was my favourite.
There's a part where Jack looks like Johnny Depp. In fact he looked exactly like Johnny Depp as he was in Benny and Joon which everyone must see.
