(THE K9D ON THE STREET xxx THE KIDS EVERYWHERE) [12 Aug 2004|09:40pm] lokimalkavian i don't know how many of you guys have ever read "Evasion" from Crimethinc books but it's an excellent autobiography and a must-read for anyone that ever has to or plans to squat or hitch trains. you can get it from www.crimethinc.com (i think that's the website). anyway as far as that goes, there are lots of good tips on making money and getting food while living on the street. mostly it's a lot of dumpster diving technique but, there are some killer tricks. for example, the eckerd's / walgreen's receipt scam. people throw receipts outside all the time. find a receipt outside for some expensive bottle of diet or health pills or something else those middleaged women buy that cost a shitload of money, and take the receipt inside. grab whatever item is indicated on the receipt and go to the counter to "return" it. point out that it's unopened and say that whomever you bought it for decided they didn't want it, or whatever other story you can think up. then - bam - cash in your hand. i've tried it a few times, it works pretty good. but yeah. read the book. and does anyone else have any good street living tips?
