hello ladies! i ran an interests search & this community came up. you have powerpuff girls in your interests list, so i thought i'd give this a shot. i've got this gorgeous ppg briefcase i'm looking to sell. it measures approx. 12 inches in length, 9 inches tall, and 4 inches in width. used only once or twice, but there is an embarassing little pen doodle on the back (see under cut) .. this makes the best carrying case & fits so many things, surprisingly! i prefer paypal & i'm asking $15, shipping included, or best offer. have a wonderful day!

GOD DAMN HTML! |
[06 Feb 2005|05:04am] |
I am so god damn tired of trying to figure out this HTML shit. I can't do it. Does anyone know anything about HTML and customizing journals and would be willing to help me out with customizing my livejournal? I have a paid account, I just don't know what I'm doing with it. I've been trying for the past 2 hours to customize it and find info about doing so, and all I ended up doing was un-doing all the customizations that I'd done before. I'm about to scream or break something, I'm getting really, truly frustrated. Codes are just not my thing. I don't think what I need is that difficult, most people have them on their journal... I just don't know how. I want my entries to be on the right side of the page. I want the background picture for the journal to be stationary, none of this scrolling shit with the picture. That's all. And I can't do it! Any help... please?

Hi, I'm new to the community and I wanted to say hi! Just wanted someone, other than my boyfriend, to appreciate that I have been scanning my boyfriend's computer for spybots, adware, and viruses for the last few hours. He had over 160 adwares, about 20 spybots, and over 75 objects were infected with trojan horses. Someone has been a little lazy..... The good news is that I got everything all better and now he will be able to play EQ2 in peace and happiness (and not bother me when I'm playing my games)

I am new to this community and am not quite sure what one should post here and what one should not. Today I saw a wonderful Parody of the latest Star Wars movie. It has to be downloaded, but it is worth it.

Maybe someone here can help me...
The last couple days I've been plauged my processor overheating. Every time I play a game, my processor overheats and the motherboard shuts down the computer. Now, if I was playing a really graphics intensive game like Half Life 2, I could understand it. But I've been playing Planescape: Torment, a game that was released in 1999, and has a reccomended processor of a Pentium 2 266 mhz. My Athlon 2800 seems like it should be more than able to handle it without overheating. All I have running in the background is Zone Alarm and AVG. Can anyone help me?

yoinked from HouseGeek |
[26 Jan 2005|08:23pm] |
A French teacher was explaining to her class that in French, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine. ''House'' for instance, is feminine: ''la maison.'' ''Crayon,'' however, is masculine: "Le crayon.''
A student asked, ''What gender is 'computer'?'' Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ''computer'' should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation. The men's group decided that ''computer'' should definitely be of the feminine gender (''la computer''), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic; 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else; 3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and 4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
(No chuckling...this gets better!)
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine (''Le computer''), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on; 2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves; 3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and 4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
The women won.

On the "freerandomitem.com" stuff... |
[23 Jan 2005|03:33pm] |
We're not going to start this here. The previous post where someone posted their referral link to freeminimacs.com has been deleted. We are not a community for you to try to inflate your referrals. If you want to post that to your personal journal, feel free, but not here. We're not your personal brigade to get you something for free, even if it IS something geeky. I get enough spam trying to get me to sign up for stuff in my email. I don't need it in the community.
I also imagine you knew that you'd meet resistance here because you made it so people could not comment on your post. If you think that people might have something snarky to say, you're probably right and you should probably think very carefully whether you really want to post it here. If you have to turn off commenting in your post, chances are you shouldn't be posting it anyway.
So, let's clear this up right now: don't try to get referrals in this community for the freestuff websites. In regards to freeminimacs.com, I refer you to their Terms of Service:
Posting your referral link in places where it is not welcome, or spamming your referral link online in any capacity is strictly prohibited. If we see or receive complaints about your referral methods that we deem risky, we may place your account or accounts on hold.
Do it, and I'll be one of the ones to complain to them in addition to banning you from this community and flagging your post as spam for the LJ admins. I'm making it officially known that this behavior is not welcome here. Consider this your only warning.

Hi! |
[22 Jan 2005|03:59pm] |
Morning to all! It is I, Juliette, the chix0r, girl geek, Trekkie, Hitchhiker fan and complete LOTR freak! That would look great on my resume, I bet. =D
I classify myself as a proud science, LOTR and all-things-astronomic geek. Very little computer stuff. But I have my own website, and my LJ, so maybe I am starting. Scary thought. Terminate that line of thinking. I for one have a thing for pentominoes and Ivars Peterson's math column in Muse magazine. And a few other places, I think. I also speke Old English, though mye grasp is lymited and anee help wold be apreceated.

Help! |
[18 Jan 2005|10:51pm] |
Problem ...
I have a set of numbers (below) which have been assigned to articles. The list is in reverse date order (ie lower ones were allocated first).
I can't see any pattern to them! There cannot be duplicates and I'mm making the assumption that someone is not just thinking of a random number, checking it isn't already in use and then using that (although that might be true, it seems so *wrong* for an organisation to do that!
The numbers for last year included:
28009 23010 17065 31190 26006 33025 16012 17059 28014 20107 21050 43002 13021 37006 39014 11014 37005 17049 21046 31168 22208 41818
Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether there is an algorithm in use, and if so what it might be?
