Can't sleep dammit.
Saw the craziest thing today.
Was wandering up from Britomart, and just as I come to the intersection at the bottom of Queen st and Customs I look up and this dude is jumping up and down on top of a car that had stopped for the red light.
The dude was was screaming at the whole world while he jumped. "They get a christmas!, I don't get a fuckin' christmas!" dude jumps up and down a few more times, falls over, starts kicking and hitting the car sommore.
The person in the car was huddled over on their cell phone (to the cops I guess), as were heaps of people around me.
He was swearing, crying and kicking the car and wandering in circles. The whole time screaming about how he doesn't have anything and these fuckers have everything etc.
He wasn't trying to get into the car from what I could see, just kept jumping on it and screaming at the whole world.
A few people approached him, but he was raving pretty hard at this point, a big biker looking guy walked up with a couple other big guys and tried to calm him down, I wandered over too, no idea what I thought I could do, but I couldn't just stand there.
At this point a cop van pulled up and a heap of cops piled onto him and dragged him to the van. One fucking idiot clapped for a second, but was told to shut up.
The person in the car is gonna have a pretty good set of issues with driving for a bit I'd say.
To be honest though I felt saddest for the guy himself, he'd just cracked completely. I don't think he even knew the people in the car he was smashing up (it was pretty well dented up by the end). He just looked like everything in his world was fucked and he was going to take it out on the first thing he saw.
I've felt close to the edge a few times in my life, but I've always been able to step back again. He hadn't just stepped over the edge, he'd fucking dived off. I've never seen a human being look more completely broken.
It looks like a pretty horrible place off the edge. I hope I never have to see it first hand.

I don't know how not to be weird.
It's mildly disconcerting.
Being single in winter blows.
But I have no idea how to not be single anymore, it's been too long.
But that's ok.
I'm kinda lonely tonight.
But not really.
The constant state of inbetween.
I really really like the cranberries.
I have nothing of importance to say anymore.

Edgefest was excellent.
I've been wanting to see Shihad/Pacifier live for ages, and kept missing out for one reason or another.
It was cool to see a kiwi band have top billing over 3 international acts, and rightly so. Pacifier rocked very very hard. They played a good mix of old and new stuff too, which I was stoked about.
Finally got to hear Home Again live. Nice.
Alien ant farm were great, they all have this cool "holy shit dude, we're rock stars!" thing going on. Very cool.
Other stand out acts were: Stereogram, who worked the crowd really well. Blindspott, who do the rock monster thing excellently. Yellowcard, who have a crazed violinist: and The Feelers, who seem to have gotten their mojo back, Pressure man is great live.
I'm a little deaf today.
Oh yeah, the opening act was the na na na guy from NZ Idol. I say he shoulda won.
Rock.

Placebo.
Cruised around to Alex's at about 4:30 yesterday, where Lisa, Ivan, and another dude (who's name escapes me) where already, had a drink and had a deep meaningful conversation about Ron Jeremy and other pressing social issues.
Learned what fluffers were.
We rolled into town at about 6, stood around commenting on the low calibre of the groupies.
Finally began the shuffle in at about 7.
Got in, stood around for about an hour, then the opening act came on, something or other Casino I think they were called. I asked the lead singer, but he just smiled at me and sung somemore.
Ah well. They were generic but quite good.
At about 9:20 Placebo came out.
They rocked, played quite a bit of their old stuff. Very cool. The town hall was a cool venue, small enough to be able to see the band clearly, but large enough to hold lotsa people.
I spent the whole night right smack in the middle of the pit, which was pretty full on, but not too bad.
Couldnt feel my legs after though.
The band were really good. Brian has great stage presence. They finished up with a cover of a Pixies song (cant remember which one).
I think my favourite moment was when they played centrefolds. Very pretty slow song from the new album.
Threw in a little political wassname in the middle of slave to the wage "sick and tired of Tony's fun(?) he's a bitch.."
Ran into Ross and Eddie, and a couple other random people.
The crowd went nuts (reapeatedly), especially when they played special K.
Afterwards went and had a few drinks with Alex and Lisa, talked about life the universe and how wonderful coke is.
Got home about 2:30 and passed out.

Amped really isnt the right word, but fuck it, I know what I mean.
Wonder who the opening act will be. Gotta be better than the dude at Counting Crows.
Right, off to get hair cut.
