let's go(11:55pm)
let's go find napoleon
you wear his hat while i try his coat "damn," you say, "dude had a small head." i look like myself in the mirror, trying on old clothes sweaters my mom made, a blue dinosaur on white wool or knights with pennants, gone from round tables it's hardly the time to lower your mask or raise up your shield though hearts, once pierced still beat, but slowly and giants, once felled still dwarf their victors

facebook(12:25pm)
so i spent the weekend writing facebook applications, and the best of the bunch is the advocates' world's smallest political quiz. it's much better than the washington post quiz. if you're on facebook please take the quiz and help spread the word.

small world(02:16am)
jinna wanted a cd from seattle so i made her buy the japanese version of dolour's 2001-2005 cd...
the dude who rings us up goes 'hey, great choice'... i'm like 'yeah?' and dude goes 'yeah, that's my band!' he was so stoked he gave me an extra frequent buyer stamp.

griffith park(11:57pm)
"Firefighter Eric French said that it's believed the blaze began at a golf course on the north side of the park after someone threw a lit cigarette into the brush."
another casualty of "the world is my ashtray" syndrome.

cartoon memes(12:26am)
i saw two coincidental things in the simpsons/family guy today... i watched a macguyver clip from both shows, which was hilarious, and then i watched tonight's family guy and heard old pedophile dude play i know what boys like on the organ and though bought back to the simpsons episode where they play the song; i think it's the episode where lisa pretends to be a dude to go to the dude's side of school after they segregate based on gender.
i liked the song and downloaded it after hearing it on the show. it's probably the waitresses' only other known song besides christmas wrapping.

kvj!(12:29am)
i remember seeing galapagos on my grandma's bookshelf and being intrigued by the turtles on the cover... since then i've read almost all of kurt vonnegut's books. it's one thing to have a style all your own... and it's another for people to love that style... and it's another for them to love it while you're still alive. i don't feel bad at all for kurt, i think he did a lot with his life and i think he lived it to the fullest to the end. i wish i had some income back when i found out about his paintings, though. i think they're probably too expensive for me now.

it all makes sense now(11:36pm)
if you've talked to me long enough about music i've probably told you that my favorite song as a kid was david lee roth's just like paradise. sure, i loved johnny rivers, but during that time i was too young to know the names of any of his songs. the first song i picked as a favorite all by myself was without a doubt david lee roth's just like paradise. my dad had the cassette and i vaguely remember refusing to leave the car until the song had finished playing.
anyways, i found out today that it's steve vai who plays on that whole album, meaning i've seen the guitarist from my first favorite song play live. listening again today it makes sense, it's hard for steve vai to sound like anything but himself, even as part of another band.

ouch(05:01pm)
"New York used to be home to a host of skating rinks but they faded away. Skate Key in the Bronx closed down last March and Roxy in Manhattan, which offers adult skating sessions part-time, will have its last skate this Friday night. Empire is the last full-time rink which caters to kids and adults."
Empire's closing too.

myspace math(01:44am)
my myspace id is 79,935.
total myspace users is approaching 160,000,000. this puts my signup ahead of 99.9995% of everyone else on the site. tom's id, by comparison, is 6,221. i think that's probably "extreme early adopter" status.
