L.A. Car Show I went with a friend of mine to the LA car show tonight at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It was pretty cool. ..I'm ashamed to say, but Ford is totally winning me over. Their '05 Mustang is.. remarkable. It's reminiscent of classic mustangs, but no so much so that it's a wannabe hotrod like the PT Cruiser, Prowler, or Thunderbird. And the new Ford GT.. oh.. oh my.... it's magic. Rear wheel drive, but HUUUUUGE rear wheels. Oh, and both the GT and the '05 Mustang have a mock gas cap on the back reminiscent of those on classic mustangs and GT's. Ford has some really good cars. Darn them to heck. I also got to sit in an MR2 spyder and a 350Z and pretend to drive them. Wheee.. I'm inspired to go take test drives of them.. even though I can't even begin to afford either one. I was also impressed by the Saabs. Ooooh, and the V-16 caddy.. ONE THOUSAND HORSEPOWER, folks!!! They're not putting that one into production I don't think though.. who could afford it it at $300,000? That's more than the Ferari 350 Spider which rings in at a quarter million bucks. I got to see that too.. but no touching. Too bad. Oh, and KIA, of all companies, has a car that looks JUST like a jag. It's really nice. If you put a jaguar hood ornament on it, you wouldn't know the difference. I leave you with this lovely website, wich has a few lovely pictures of the Cadillac Sixteen (the V-16 I was telling you about earlier) and it's extremely fresh engine. http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/030106-14.htm (Come help me pick up 2 vegetables | Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Monday, January 5th, 2004 | 3:15 am |
So Jay Leno pulls through the drivethrough of a Wendy's in North Hollywood... ..And I give him a double cheeseburger with no onions. I'm so good in the presence of celebrity that I make a complete ass of myself.
The Ben: "Oh wow, are you Jay Leno?" Jay Leno: "Yes." The Ben: "Wow, it's a pleasure to meet you." Jay Leno: "Thanks. Hi." *Jay Leno and the Ben shake hands* The Ben: "Can I get you anything else on the house?" Jay Leno: "No, that's okay." The Ben: "Alright, well it was great to meet you. Fresh car by the way!" ((It was a very nice Firebird.)) Jay Leno: "It's just a Firebird." The Ben: "Heh, well have a good evening!" Jay Leno: "Thanks. ..do you have a drink for me?" ((Yeah.. he ordered a Biggie Coke and I forgot to give it to him....)) The Ben: "Oh yeah. I'm sorry about that."
*The Ben gives Jay Leno the drink and wishes him a good evening again. Jay Leno says thanks and drives off. The Ben then screws up the next order- that of a black gentleman who the Ben was very glad was not Kevin Eubanks.*
Someday I'll be famous and appear on the Tonight Show and this will make a great anecdote. Durrr. (Come help me pick up 21 vegetables | Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Thursday, December 25th, 2003 | 9:33 am |

So this guy wearing a SWAT vest walks into a Wendy's.. Yep, he sure did. Right before we were about to close the dining room. (And yes, for those of you who don't know, I am working at Wendy's again. Because I'm a complete loser.)
And to go with his SWAT vest, he is sporting an Alias hat! So I asked him if he worked for Buena Vista and mentioned that Rox works there. He said yes and I asked him what he did. So we talked about that for a couple minutes. He's the costume directer for Alias. He used to design them, now he just orders them or has his design people do it for him. But anyway, it was really cool. The vest was tres cool. He said it was one of the vests for the French secret service SWAT-type guys. ^_^ I thought it was extremely nifty. I think he said his name was Rayben. (Ironic, no? :P) I'm going to watch out for him in the credits.
That is all. Just thought I'd share. (Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Sunday, November 23rd, 2003 | 9:34 pm |

Behind the times as usual. I just saw Shallow Hal, for it was on HBO. I'd heard that it was so-so back when it came out.. but I thought it was really really good. And I love how in the credits they show video of all the gaffers and grips and production assistants and camera men and stuff.
That's all. Nothing fascinating. (Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Saturday, November 22nd, 2003 | 1:31 pm |
SO... BORED... Yeah, so I started working at Wendy's again. I hate hate HATE it because it's totally a step backward. But then again, I like being able to eat. And I need to get people Christmas presents, buy a new computer, get my car fixed, and tons of other things that cost money. It'd also be nice to be able to afford a social life.
But here I am, NOT at work or in class for a change and I have NO idea what to do. I feel like loafing around here is such a waste of time, especially when there's no one online to talk to. Batman (w/ Michael Keaton) is on.. but it's not sufficiently entertaining me. I'm not in a lounging mood.
I seriously need some friends. I'm bored out of my mind and it's quite depressing. (Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Wednesday, November 19th, 2003 | 10:20 pm |

Stolen from Tempest and Astra I don't know if this will work as well for me as it did for them though.
I want you to comment anything that you want.
Anything.
A story, a secret, a confession, a fear, a love (hah, right) - anything. Be sure to post anonymously and honestly. Post twice if you'd like.
Then, put this in your LJ to see what your friends (and perhaps others who you don't even realize read your LJ) have to say.
And i really want someone to do this...cause at least ONE person has to have something to say. (Come help me pick up 26 vegetables | Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Sunday, November 9th, 2003 | 3:39 pm |
The Matrix: Revolutions I got to see Revolutions on Wednesday, the day it came out. It wasn't even sold out.. Of course, I did see the 4pm showing, which isn't the best moviegoing time. But still, I was surprised.
The movie was more real and less extravagantly matrixy through most if it than the others. There was a good matrix bit at the beginning and huge one at the end, but most of the middle was all real world. I thought they ended it pretty well, but the last 30 seconds seemed a little cheesy to me.
Well that's all. I think I'm going to Porto's bakery for lunch. Yummy. (Come help me pick up 1 vegetable | Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Thursday, October 30th, 2003 | 10:28 pm |
Halloween I never have dates for the holidays. It's the curse of Ben. As a result of that and having no money, I'll be spending halloween in my apartment trying to find something to entertain me and trying not to eat the Kit-Kats that I bought for any kids who might stop by. I don't know if kids trick-or-treat at apartments or not.
I'm used to living a little bit out in the country where there are never trick-or-treaters. I think during my childhood we had one ever. We had to scrounge to find something.. because it was completely unexpected.
My costume ideas this year were Big Ben (yeah, the clocktower), Optimus Prime (that'd be a hard one to make..), Darkwing Duck (yay!), and Jack the Ripper. I already have the top hat!
That's all for this boring update. Hello to any Maroon 5 message board folks to gave this a look. (Come help me pick up 2 vegetables | Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Thursday, October 23rd, 2003 | 1:14 pm |

My life is currently nothing but garbage. So I went to see this band called Thrice in concert tonight.. It was a free concert at this Apple store in Santa Monica. It was the first real thing I've done in weeks. And it was something I could actually afford! I can afford free!
The ad for the concert said it was to start at 7 but to show up by 6:15 to ensure that you'd be able to get in. I showed up at around 5:30. I parked in the parking structure and went to the other side of the block and found the store. The line reached back around.. almost to where the entrance to the parking garaged was. O.o;; I waited in line until about 7:50. They started the show early because they decided to do two seperate sets so they could let some people in, play for them, get them out, and let more people in. Well my standing in line was not completely in vain.. but mostly. The closest I got was outside the front of the store where I could sorta/kinda/maybe see the band a little bit. I could hear them okay. But they only had three songs left by the time I got there. So I waited in line for two and a half hours for that.. great. And I had to pay parking, but had no cash. (I forgot to account for the fact that I'd have to pay parking.) I had my ATM card.. but there wasn't an ATM to by found ANYWHERE!! So I went to McDonalds and got some food, though I couldn't really afford it. I had to buy something to get some cash back and I was hungry anyway. So then I go and sit down and realize the lady didn't give me the $5 cash back that I asked for, but I had the receipt saying I was charged for it. This is partly my fault for not objecting right away, but I was spaced out on the account of being frustrated and tired and achy and lonely. Thankfully when I went back up with the receipt, she gave me the $5. Thank God she believed me or I'd have had to buy something ELSE to get cashback for the parking garage. So then I leave and the parking fee is $3. Felt kinda steep considering the first two hours are supposed to be free.. but whatever. So I go home, a depressed little boy who didn't have a good time at all. Boo-hoo, poor me. I should be able to get over that.
But then.. on my way home. I had an accident. Someone far ahead on the freeway stopped suddenly, causing a chain reaction of cars stopping suddenly, and even though I had several seconds between me and the next car, I STILL couldn't stop on time. the guy I hit sustained very minimal damage and hopefully won't cost me much. But my car is so much crap now. It's not totalled or anything. I can drive it. (Though who knows for how long. I have no idea what damage it did to the engine and stuff.) But the hood is displaced, the front grill messed up, the bumper smashed in a bit, and there has to be more damage. I can tell that just sitting inside my car. Because my steering wheel is out of place enough to see through in between it and the dashboard.
The guy I hit hit someone as well. And a couple cars hit behind me too (though none of them hit me) The speed limit was like 70, so there was just no way for everyone to stop on time. Like I really needed this. I'm completely broke and already begging for money from my parents. I just got a job offer (sorta..it's a crappy job), but I can't start for a week or two and it'll take another two weeks or so to get my first paycheck.
Yeah, so that was my lovely night. I might not go out again for a while.

Life in general Things are very difficult. I'm spending more money just existing than I can hope to scrape up. I'm resulting to begging for money from my parents and cashing in savings bonds prematurely. My apartment costs me $600 a month and I have a credit card I probably won't be able to pay off for a while as I still don't even have a job. I haven't been able to hang out with Rox much as her mom is sick, bless her heart. It's good that she spends time with her. I can't really make friends since I wouldn't have much money to go out, so things are kind of tricky right now. Poor, sad, lonely Ben. *grasps as sympathy* Keep me in your prayers, folks. School is going fine and I'm pretty sure I'm about to get this one-hour photo job. It won't give me enough hours to even pay my rent, but it's something. The interview just went really really well, so I'm pretty sure it's in the bag. So much for not getting my hopes up. I'll still need a second job anyway, so I'm still working on that. At least I have a place though! I feel like I'm the most boring person on the planet now since I never really do anything. Not enough happens at school for me to have any cool tales. The only one I have from there is that my speech teacher was in two different sitcoms when he was in college. In both of them he played a drummer who delivered telegrams with a bellydancer. How did he get the same silly role, you may ask? He actually WAS a drummer who delivered telegrams with a bellydancer. That job got him through Grad school. Quite interresting, that chap. Uh, yeah. So that's all. Current Mood: stressedCurrent Music: Something Country (Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) | Sunday, August 17th, 2003 | 3:33 am |
Versace Okay, so I've not been online as much as I thought I'd be once I got here. I'm busy ALL the time. During the day I look for a money-bearing occupation and in the evenings and on the weekends, I spend all my time with Rox, for she is wonderful. Today she bought me reeeeeally nice sunglasses as a graduation present. It's been a while since I graduated, I know, but we had to find just the right pair. I ended up getting a pair of Versus Versace sunglasses for $100, which is a pretty good price. On top of that, we snagged a pair of Emporio Armani sunglasses for $50. @_@ They alone retailed $150. Both pairs look smashing. ^_^ Rox gives good gifts.
Today we also got Coldstone's ice cream. It doesn't agree much with Rox and tends to mess with her health. Damned calcium. *shakes fist*
We ALSO got really nice rollerblades today! We're considering taking them back, as it was a huge splurge. ..but.. we want to keeeeep them! They're nice! I think we are going to. Then we can go to the Moonlight Rollerway, which is only a block from my building. Anna Nicole Smith twisted her ankle there, so it is a blessed place. ..just.. as long as I don't ever have to see here there. She scares me.

Maroon5 I have to see M5 as many times as possible before they get huge and their tickets cost a ton. I've seen/heard them everywhere lately. The Radio, the music videos at target, and they're going to be on a showcase tomorrow night on KTLA with a bunch of other up-and-comings like Mya. Coolness abounds. I'd tape it, but I have no VCR.

Hullo again It's me. That's right. Read the name. Denrir. I use the name Denrir even more than Rey'Kas now. I'm not really tired of the name Rey'Kas. I'd rather be called Rey than Denrir, which is why I went ahead and used the name Rey for GXF. But I guess I didn't want to use it out. That, and I hit the elvish thing a lot. I just started playing Neverwinter Nights last week and I used the name Denrir. Good game that. But yeah, it let me be an elf, so I went with Denrir. I guess it's because I think of Rey as more human, though he doesn't have to be. I need to do some sort of story with Rey again someday soon. I used to write all the time, but now I never do. So little time for it. "Rey'Kas" has had a lot of roles over the years, most of them medieval, but some of them modern or futuristic. I think the times coming up to add to his repertoire. That, or come up with a new character. I do the thing where I come up with new chararacters a lot, but I never like any of them as much as Rey'Kas. Denrir is as close as it's gotten. Not that any of you know what I'm talking about as you've probably not seen any stories with them in it. Heh.
But yeah, I've been writing over the last couple of days quite a bit. You know.. writing billions of cover letters and such. I probably won't even get a response to most of them. -.- But anyway, using one's literary gene for a bit tends to reawaken schtuff. I'll probably start composing something soon. I have to let it muse in my mind for a week or so first.
Uh, yeah. So tune in next time, kids, as DenReyBen continues this saga of the uninteresting. (Throw Roses, vegetables, or whatever you wish...) |
