Okay, so I was up extra early this morning and watched some "Sportscenter" before I go. They're doing a tribute or something to Jordan this week since it's the 20th anniversary of his rookie season. They say the next installment of this is about Jordan's curse on Chicago since he left. I was like, "oh lord, I can't wait to hear this crap." Actually, I could and didn't really want to make any point to watch it but I ended up watching it. The whole piece was about how none of the teams in Chicago have done anything since 1998. Now, I'm going to vent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Bears haven't done anything since like 1985? I doubt that has anything to do with Michael Jordan. The Cubs, they have their own curse to deal with that has nothing to do with Jordan. The White Sox are lame and will be and always will be no matter what Jordan does. The Bulls are finally getting on their feet but what do you expect after the dynasty they had was completely dismanteled and got old anyways. Rebuilding sucks but it happens to the best of teams. They did have a coincidence with the Blackhawks in that they ended a long playoff streak in 98. That was like the only valid point they had. Just the entire premise of the stupid ten minute segment was lame. They didn't really have anything valid to point at with this whole "Jordan's Curse". I suppose I would have to give their producers props for being so creative in their ventures, but I'm pretty sure "Sportscenter" is a sports news outlet, not a sports fan fic program. I mean, I can get mad at the guys on "Pardon The Interruption" and then watch them the next day, sometimes, because that's their show, it's not about giving out correct news. Oh, and they also said Gene Siskal's death was part of the curse as well.
I guess the real reason the whole thing got me worked up was that they were like, "we haven't had a championship team since Jordan left, none of our teams are any good." This came straight from Jay Marrioti, a Chicago sports journalist. CORRECTION:You have a championship team since 1998. You, in fact, had a championship team IN 1998. You have a team who has made it to the league finals two more times since then. You have a team who created such excitement in their 2003 season, where they won everything but the league championship, that the conference championship game played in Soldier Field was easiest one of the greatest, and most emotion-filled, moments in my life. That game was fucking awesome! And it wasn't just exciting and awesome to someone who is a soccer fan. Zach took a friend of his from work to that game, who was a big soccer hater, and he LOVED it! He was chanting with the rest of Section 8 by half time.
It's not that I like Chicago sports, outside of the Fire, it was just such bullshit reporting. You're doing a report on Chicago sports since 1998, you would think you would do a throurough report. I mean, do I really need to go to school to do this? I just need to talk out of my ass and come up with crazy ideas and I can find myself a job on ESPN.
Now, Dick Vitale reports on whether or not Duke-UNC is the biggest rivalry in sports. That's educated reporting right there. Seriously. Of course, he said it was the biggest rivalry right in front of Yankees-Red Sox. Oh, Dickie V, I didn't see that coming! (note my sarcasm) Honestly now.
ESPN, the Fox News of sports reporting. Unfortunately, that's all there is for sports reporting.
Go UNC!

Is there any question why I love this man so much?!?! There shouldn't be.
For the people who read this who don't know anything about Dema or MLS...Dema Kovalenko used to play for the greatest team around, the Chicago Fire. He was traded away a couple years ago to DC United, which is the only other MLS team that I can tolerate so that made it somewhat acceptable. He still lives in Chicago so you get the feeling that he would rather still be here, especially if we were, you know, winning. Anyways, the Fire's biggest rival is the Dallas Burn. We hate them. They hate us. It's great. Well, Dema decided to take that hatred a step further one game, while he was still playing for the Fire and seriously foul one of the Burn players. His foul was so physical that he ended up breaking the Burn player's leg. That's fucking awesome!!! The Burn really hated the Fire then, Dema especially. Fast forward a bit to Dema playing with DC United. They're playing the Burn and guess what happens again...he breaks another player's leg! Now, if this was anyone else in the world you might think he was a thug or something like that. But it's Dema and you just say he plays with passion.:D This is why Dema holding a scarf saying "Fuck Dallas" is just so classic!
I love him! He's just so fucking cool! Too bad it's not clearer, I would make it into an icon or ask someone to.
Oh, and does anyone know if that's his hoochie mama girlfriend next to him because SHE IS NOT CUTE AT ALL!!!!!

I have now, officially, watched everything I possibly could watch on the "Garden State" DVD. If there are some hidden features or something, someone needs to let me know so I can watch all of that too. I finally finished all the deleted scenes tonight. The last one, with the longer version of them in the bathtub, was awesome! Natalie Portman is too cute.
Speaking of too cute...earlier today Zach called me to ask if any of the girls were in Girl Scouts anymore because he heard they're selling cookies. I call up to G-Town and Kayla finds out that Alysa is still in Girl Scouts and she has a meeting tonight. I told her I called because we want to buy some cookies. She just called now and was like, "yeah, I went to Girl Scouts tonight." I was like, "oookay"(knowing exactly why she was calling but wanted to hear what she had to say). "Well, I got my cookies sheet." "And your point?" "You called earlier wanting to buy cookies!!!" "Yes, I did but you don't just call people saying, 'I have my Girl Scout cookie sheet.'" "I didn't, just you." It was funnier if you heard the conversation because Alysa is just too cute.
Zach is going to Indiana with his dad this weekend for an Illini game. I will definately enjoy the time alone. Not that I won't miss him, because I definately will, but I do miss just being alone for a day with no obligations. That's what I used to like about having Mondays off because no one was around, just me. Sunday my mom, sister and I are probably going to MAC to spend our gift cards. Woo hoo!
It snowed like a mother these past few days. I HATE driving it in but otherwise I like it. I like a good snow once or twice a winter. It's like, you can't complain about this snow because we haven't had a good snowstorm all winter.
I could go to sleep right now. I sleep too much!

So I FINALLY saw "Garden State" and it was ten times better than I thought it would be. I LOVED it! Everyone should see it! Actually, everyone pretty much has already seen it and I was like the last person around to see it so whatever. It was so endearing to watch the two characters fall in love. I think I might watch it again tonight. I have a crush on Zach Braff now. I was telling Steffi about it this morning and she asked if Zach, my boyfriend(duh), knew about it. I was like, "well, he will when I start watching 'Scrubs' religiously." heh. Yeah, so that's my obsession of the moment.
New Year's was a good time. I worked for five hours Friday morning. Then Zach and I took Amanda and Alysa to the Wave game against the Chicago Storm. I've only seen the Wave play the Storm this year. They play each other like fifteen times. It's always funny to see the Storm get an illegal substitution penalty in each game. In the first game they played against each other they had like ten of those. It just sounds funny. Anyways, the girls had a good time. We all got to go on the field and get player autographs. I got some Italian guy who is REALLY cute because I had to stand in line with the girls and get his autograph anyways! Always have to find the one that's cute on a team that I support. Yeah, he was cute!
After that we went back up to Germantown where we had a very good dinner courtesy of my mom. We had steak, lobster, shrimp, rice and gondules(GROSS!), cheesecake, and a bunch of other random things. It was delicious! Nikki and the kids, Jacob and Ashley, came up as well and Kayla was in a good mood so it was just a really enjoyable night with my family. We all played Trival Pursuit The 90's again, and once again I DOMINATED! I went on a run of like seven questions straight correctly answered! I am the master!!! My sister gave me some good competition but in the end she couldn't beat me.
We usually put the younger kids on teams too so they feel included and they'll roll the dice and move the piece and what not. Well, towards the end of the game that was the role my mom was reduced to on her team. It was hilarious! It was also hilarious when I started to say I was full and couldn't eat any of the cheesecake I had taken. My mom then put some on the fork and started feeding me like a child. She shoved a mouthful of cheesecake in my mouth and then, while I couldn't even close my mouth because it was so full and I was laughing so hard, she put some more in while zooming it in like a plane. People wonder where I get my crackheadedness from!:D
We ended up coming back to the apt around 10 with Del. We watched the central time zone Conan O'Brien New Year's celebration and I ended up falling asleep around two. I was super tired this weekend for some reason. We slept until noon on Saturday and I ended up going back to sleep around ten that night. It's not like I did anything all day. Ridiculous! It sucked because Zach went to go rent movies, which included "Garden State" because he knew how much I wanted to see that, and when he got back I was pretty much dead to the world.
Sunday I celebrated the Packers win over the Bears. This means, since the Packers beat the Bears in overall total points scored over the season, I get a free dinner out someplace courtesy of my Bears loving boyfriend! ha ha! I had no doubt I would win this one. I also get a CD of my choosing. Any suggestions on where I should go eat? I'm thinking Cheesecake Factory right now. Yum!:D
After that Zach and I spent one of our many restaurant gift cards at Friday's. We then went to Rosebud with one of Zach's friends from work and his wife to see "Ocean's 12". It was a cool movie but I feel like it tried to be too cute at times. I liked the first one a lot better! Zach liked the second one better. They're both good and should be seen by all!:D Following the movie Zach and I went to Slim's for a drink and that was our evening.
I had a pretty good weekend. I didn't mind not going out and partying it up New Year's at all! I had such a good time with my family. I would have probably spent New Year's up there except that I had told Del we would do something with her.
That's about all I have to update on. Sorry it's nothing exciting. Thanks to everyone in the previous entry who wished me a Happy New Year. Same to you all! Hope it was safe and exciting!

Something I just added in my profile even though I haven't seen the last episode yet. "Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic. There are those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous..."
Today includes getting praised by my distict manager, being told that that never happens, going to the Wave game with Zach, Amanda and Alysa, having lobster with my family at my mom's in G-Town and ringing in the new year with Zach, Del, Jess and her man, Michael.
Everyone BE SAFE!!! Have an awesome New Year's Eve and here's to a the fresh start we all get once a year.
