7:45 pm - Go to sleep you little baby
|
So, as it turns out, my ride home wants to leave Friday, so I won't get to come hom as early as I'd hoped, and I won't get to celebrate Ryan's birthday with him on his actual birthday. :( But, this does mean that I'll get to ride in my lesson tomorrow, which I was kind of bummed about missing out on. Either way, I'll be in Cincy sometime around 3 on Friday, call me if you want to hang out, though I'm probably going to be very busy.
This week is going smoothly. I turned in the last thing that was hanging over my head (Info Gathering assignment) so that's nice. I can kind of relax tonight and tomorrow, but I have a Zoo exam on Monday that I need to do really well on. But I'm not stressed about it yet. I'm going to give myself some time to relax tonight. I'm going to a meeting about studying abroad, then going over to Nick's to watch Project Runway, then coming back here to study some (maybe) and either going to bed relatively early (I napped for a good two hours today) or staying up with Elizabeth and listening to Jason (who lives on my floor) on acrn.com tonight at midnight.
That's all. Except this:
You Belong in 1974 |
1974
If you scored...
1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!
1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.
1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!
1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.
1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

Your music channels lots of emotion. On the top it seems simple, but underneath there's always a deep meaning... As your name you're independent from most of music! Stay that way! Good on you! There's so much variation in your style...from deep and thoughtful like The Stills, to happy go lucky like Belle & Sebastian, to dancy and catchy Franz Ferdinand, and back to boogie down Hot Hot Heat and The Rapture...
What genre of rock are you? brought to you by Quizilla

Bright Eyes:First Day of My Life
This is the first day of my life I swear I was born right in the doorway I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed They're spreading blankets on the beach
Yours is the first face that I saw I think I was blind before I met you Now I don’t know where I am I don’t know where I’ve been But I know where I want to go
And so I thought I’d let you know That these things take forever I especially am slow But I realize that I need you And I wondered if I could come home
Remember the time you drove all night Just to meet me in the morning? And I thought it was strange you said everything changed You felt as if you had just woke up And you said “this is the first day of my life I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you But now I don’t care I could go anywhere with you And I’d probably be happy”
So if you want to be with me With these things there’s no telling We just have to wait and see But I’d rather be working for a paycheck Then waiting to win the lottery Besides maybe this time is different I mean I really think you like me

Bright Eyes:At The Bottom of Everything
So there is this woman and she was on an airplane, and she's flying to meet her fiancé, sailing high above the largest ocean on planet earth, and she was seated next to this man, who, you know, she had tried to start conversations, and only, really the only thing she did heard him say was to order his Bloody Mary. And she's sitting there, and she's reading this really arduous magazine article about this third world country, that she couldn't even pronounce the name of, and she's feeling very bored and very despondent, and then uh, suddenly, there's this huge mechanical failure and one of the engines gave up, and they started just falling in thirty thousand feet, and the pilot's on the microphone and he's saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, oh my God, I'm sorry," apologizing and, and she looks at the man and she says, she says "where are we going?" and he looks at her, and he says, "we're going to a party, it's a birthday party. It's your birthday party, happy birthday darling. We love you very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY much." And then he starts humming this little tune and it kinda goes like this: 1-2, 1-2-3-4
We must talk in every telephone, get eaten off the web We must rip out all the epilogues from the books that we have read And to the face of every criminal strapped firmly in a chair We must stare, we must stare, we must stare
We must take all of the medicines too expensive now to sell Set fire to the preacher who is promising us hell And in the ear of every anarchist, that sleeps but doesn't dream We must sing, we must sing, we must sing
And it'll go like this: While my mother waters plants, my father loads his gun He says, "Death will give us back to God, just like the setting sun is returned to the lonesome ocean"
And then they splashed into the deep blue sea It was a wonderful splash
We must blend into the choir, sing a static with the whole We must memorize nine numbers and deny we have a soul And to this endless race for property and privilege to be won We must run, we must run, we must run
We must hang up in the belfry, where the bats in moonlight laugh We must stare into a crystal ball, and only see the past And in the caverns of tomorrow with just our flashlights and our love We must plunge, we must plunge, we must plunge
And then we'll get down there, Way down to the very bottom of everything And then we'll see it Oh we'll see it, we'll see it, we'll see it
Oh my morning's coming back, the whole world's waking up Oh the city bus is swimming past, I'm happy just because I found out I am really no one

9:47 pm - Portions for Foxes

.::The Weekend::.
Friday: Got up and went to my 8:00 class, and then had a delicious breakfast with Christine and Elizabeth. Got back to the dorm and went back to bed for a good two hours. I would have slept all day but I got up at 12:30 for yoga class. The class went well, but I felt really stiff. The instructor taught the class a lot differently than I am used to though. She had us do a lot of individual poses rather than doing them all in a series with a lot of sun salutations, so it seemed a lot less fluid and relaxing. But it was still nice to get back to the basics. After all of that was dinner and all of that stuff. I honestly don't know what I did. After dinner (with the crazy kid who knocked over chairs) some people went to the mandolin/bass concert, and Christine, Joe, Jason and I watched Aladdin. I talked to Ryan a little bit after that, and eventually Jason and I went over to Nick's to watch Kill Bill Vol. 2. We decided to make a little drinking game out of the movie: 1 drink for every time someone said "Bill", 2 drinks every time someone mentioned a snake, 3 drinks every time you saw a cowboy hat in a new environment, 4 drinks every time someone said "Beatrix Kiddo" (or any variation thereof) and 5 drinks when the "she's about to go on a rampage" music played. It was good times, but I think Nick is going to need to see the movie again to really understand it. ;)
Saturday: Rolled out of bed around 11 or twelve and went to breakfast. Came back to the dorms, showered, and Christine and I headed Uptown. We went to The Underground (a vintage clothing store) to look for a dress Christine can use as a costume in her play, but had no such luck. I made Christine stop at the tattoo shop and got some ideas for my next tat. I know this sounds cheesey but I think I'm going to get "Fly without wings..." in a nice script font between my shoulderblades. What do you think? I'm kind of worried that that's really just... yeah, cheesey's all I've got. Christine played with the little girl in the shop who was friggin' adorable. We tried looking for dresses in the costume store, but again, no luck. So we headed back home. Eventually Elizabeth's sister (my other cousin) Colleen showed up. Elizabeth, Christine, Colleen and her friend Kaitlin, and I went out to eat at The Red Brick Tavern and had a great meal. Then we all got ready to go out and Dave Powers, Alison, Jason, Elizabeth and I went with Colleen and Kaitlin to a party. I gotta say, the party was kinda lame. I didn't want to drink much since I had to get up early the next day, and all they had was Jungle Juice and Bud Light. The Jungle Juice was strong so I only had a cup of that and could only choke down half a Bud so I didn't even really get a buzz. I was tired and my 8:00 wake-up call was hanging over my head so I made the boys and Alison walk me most of the way home around 11:30-12-ish. I couldn't get a hold of Ryan and was kind of bummed about the party, so I was sad until Ryan did actually call me and we talked until I could barely keep my eyes open.
Sunday: My alarm went off three times before I forced myself out of bed at 8:30. I got dressed and headed out to catch my ride to Columbus. We got up there around 10:30 or so. The first place we went to ride was The Horse Center, Ltd. The trainer there, Wayne, was really nice, and so were his horses. There was six of us girls and we all warmed up our own horses, took them through a course and then we played musical horses until each of us had ridden all of the horses through a course. The horses were all great and mostly well behaved. But eventually we had to leave and go to the other barn. So we got lunch and were at this other place (I don't know the name) by 3:00. We got there, got horses, tacked up and got on. By this time there was eight of us, and the ring we were in was really small, so it was pretty cramped. These horses weren't as well behaved either. We all had a pretty good warmup though, but when we started jumping Amanda had a bad fall. She was heading from a diagonal line to an outside straight line, no big deal, but her horse refused and then ran out of the first fence of the outside line. When he refused Amanda got thrown forward a little bit and lost her stirrups, and then he took off, but since the ring was so small there was nowhere for him to go except over another fence... so he did! And that unseated Amanda some more and then he took off down the rail and she just came flying off and landed smack on her ass. It was not a good fall, but she was ok, nothing broken I don't think, but she didn't get back on the horse. So after all of that I was (and I think the other girls were too) a little bit more nervous (I mean, we'd never even seen these horses before and then one of our best riders takes a hard fall) and these horses weren't as well behaved as the ones at the first barn, so I didn't feel like I had the best ride(s). But that's alright. I learned a lot today and was glad I got to ride some before the show this weekend. Which is in Wilmington, by the way, if anyone feels like coming to watch. I know you do.
Anyway.
That was the weekend. It was pretty good, but I didn't do any homework. Or laundry. And now it's 10:30 and my body is begging me to go to bed. I think I'll try to teach myself some philosophy before I go to bed, but we'll see how that goes.
I hope you all are doing well. I'm trying to get home the weekend of the 10th, so hopefully I will see everyone very soon!
((xoxo))

10:09 am - I want to be your housewife
|
Well this weekend was wonderful. Ryan came to visit and stayed from Friday until Monday. I was sick, unfortunately, but it was so very nice just to lay in bed with Ryan for three days. Of course being sick meant I didn't do any homework besides studying for the zoology exam I had yesterday. I did alright on the exam, considering the average was a 69%. Of course putting off all of that work has majorly screwed me over for the rest of the week. I have from now until 3 to research and write a paper on hawk's foveas, walk uptown and drop $100 on books, one that I bought already but somehow lost. I need to use one of those books to cram for my lab quiz. I'd also like to shower if time allows. Great.
Yesterday was kind of a pain. I had an exam at 8 AM, and pointless Info Gathering lecture at 10. Then Ryan left and I was upset about that. But I still had three more classes to get through. It was just a long, arduous day and I'm glad it's over.
Meh.
In other news, I really want to get another tattoo. Something on my back, either both shoulders (for symmetry's sake) or the left shoulder. Any ideas as to what I should get? I really want something that's a beautiful work of art. It'd be nice if it meant something too. So yes, ideas?

You're Australia!
You're easy-going, relaxed, and yet somewhat tough and hardy all at the same time. You can appreciate culture, scuba diving, and even safaris. This makes you pretty interesting and intriguing to others, though also really unpredictable and even wild. Your knowledge of nature is unthinkable to most of those around you, even though your respect for it is sometimes less than perfect. People really like your accent. Take the Country Quiz at the Blue Pyramid

Rilo Kiley:A Better Son/Daughter
Sometimes in the morning I am petrified and can't move. Awake, but cannot open my eyes. And the weight is crushing down on my lungs, I know I can't breath. And hope someone will save me this time. And your mother's still calling you insane and high Swearing it's different this time. And you tell her to give in to the demons that possess her And that God never blessed her insides. Then you hang up the phone and feel badly for upsetting Things and crawl back into bed to dream of a time When your heart was open wide and you loved things just because Like the sick and the dying.
And sometimes when you're on, you're really fucking on And your friends they sing along and they love you. But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap And it teases you for weeks in its absence.
But you'll fight and you'll make it through You'll fake it if you have to and you'll show up to work with a smile You'll be better and you'll be smarter and more grown up And a better daughter or son and a real good friend And you'll be awake, you'll be alert, you'll be positive though it hurts And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends You'll be a real good listener, you'll be honest, you'll be brave You'll be handsome and you'll be beautiful. You'll be happy.
Your ship may be coming in. You're weak, but not giving in To the cries and the wails of the valley below. And your ship may be coming in. You're weak, but not giving in. And you'll fight it, you'll go out fighting all of them.
