I probably shouldn't be amused by this, but I am. After some time cruising around the journals of my friend's friends lists, I've edited my interests about six times. Mostly in an "OMG I can't believe I forgot to list ____!" sort of way.
I think I'm mildly retarded.
I sent out some resumes earlier this week...2/3 for positions with non-profits (yey!) so cross your fingers, do nekkid chicken dances, pray, whatever you do, that one of these is right for me.

Gotta love pollen season in Georgia. (note: the article is from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, and requires registration. Basically it's about how miserable our pollen/allergy season is down here.)
I got a can of Barq's out of the vending machine here at work, and it's coated in a thin layer of pollen. *sigh*

I drank over a gallon of water yesterday (4.5 liters, to be exact)...not bad, considering I usually drink about a liter and a half. I'm almost suprised I didn't drown or something.
in other news, my throat isn't dry and scratchy anymore!

yes, yes I am a dork. BUT I CAN'T WATCH THE MOVIE TONIGHT!!! 'cause I'm going to a retreat straight after work. Fuck. I'm seriously thinking about either leaving work early or getting to the retreat late so I can watch the movie today and not wait until Sunday.
Po! Regardless, we're going on Sunday :) Be prepared!!

I joined a listserv this week and the members are CRACKING ME UP! I feel like I've been posting to that list for ages and ages instead of two days. Bunch of lewd, friendly, sarcastic geeks. It's a great fit for me ;)

A fantastic short story and one that you should definitely read - particularly if you like speculative fiction.

I haven't done this in a while, and I should.
Things I'm grateful for, right here and right now:
+ my health. except for my knee, I've had no health problems in months and months. WOOT! + silly crushy goodness. It's put a smile on my face all week. + my cat + the Internet + time to myself. I've needed it lately + friends with a wide variety of beliefs and values. I'm loving the diversity + Dr. Mike. Leg numbness gone for 8 weeks now! + Maxine DeLorca (my car). He's still running well even though I'm a slacker in car care. + my folks + AMAZING thesis committee. I want to be able to teach/guide the way they do. Wow. + crazy-ass hormones + pretty nail polish for my toenails + supervisors at both jobs. they rock!
the other stuff I'm grateful for I can't articulate, but it's there.

I find articles like this article on Asian-Pacific treaties fascinating.
I wish, when I read stuff like this, that I retained more information. Even when it fascinates me I never seem to remember the important stuff I read, though I remember the fiction/novels I read for years. What's up with that?

1. It's beautiful outside, and I'm here stuck inside the office. *waaahhh*
2. Our vending machine guy finally refilled the soda, so I had a nice cold Barq's today. Mmmm.
3. Happy Hour tonight after work. Anyone want to join me and jenpo?
4. I made some icons yesterday. Hopefully I'll have time to tweak them and upload them this weekend. I'm getting tired of the old ones. Although one new one is in use RIGHT NOW! It's Yuri, from the manga series The Dirty Pair, from the cover of Sim Hell #2: Remastered.

Citizens Against Government Waste have published their annual "pigbook", which highlights all the pork being spent by our lovely legislators in Washington, D.C. As always, it's a little bit nauseating to see, in numbers, exactly how they manage to waste the money they remove from our paychecks every year. Yick. http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2005

Of course, anything that has the potential to bring down the price of tv-viewing is, as far as I'm concerned, a good thing. And I think the merging of this technology is nifty.

The sheer scale of these construction/architectural plans for Moscow are amazing. Almost breathtaking, even considering Stalin was behind it. The scope of the plans fits the personality of a meglomanic like Stalin, that's for sure. Link found on Ravishing Light and subsequently swiped.

Ok, I didn't read the article. The headline cracks me up as it is: http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/03/22/fda.beds.reut/index.html "FDA orders killer hospital beds to be seized"

I think this test gives me too much credit (as I'm sure jenpo can attest to), but ok...
Bourbon Congratulations! You're 104 proof, with specific scores in beer (20) , wine (33), and liquor (34). | Screw all that namby-pamby chick stuff, you're going straight for the bottle and a shot glass! It'll take more than a few shots of Wild Turkey or 99 Bananas before you start seeing pink elephants. You know how to handle your alcohol, and yourself at parties. | |
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 13% on proof | | You scored higher than 82% on beer index | | You scored higher than 83% on wine index | | You scored higher than 82% on liquor index |

Stupid headline of the week (at least to my eyes: I've been slack reading the news recently)
Governor's knife renders dog 'a new man'
Our lovely governor, Sonny Perdue, was a vetrinarian in a past life and neutered a mutt for the Humane Society, to draw attention to the problem of unwanted animals. Great gesture, blah blah blah. Stupid headline. Worse, it's a quite from Sonny himself.
[insert sigh of annoyance here]

Suddenly the lunch I brought from home doesn't seem appetizing...want Chinese food. I havne't had Chinese food in sooooo long! My saliva glands are going into overdrive now. *pouts*
Unfortunately I have to drive to job 2 and I don't really have the time/cash to eat out. Grr!
