    the new guy
hey, i'm new here, a 22 year old guy from Australia, on the hunt for some more great tunes, doing a search on other Ozomatli fans, and found this community. i also have a community dedicated to the music and work of Michael Franti and Spearhead, here : [info]spearhead, it's an open community, and the more people that join, the more successful it is!! plus, only a few Aussies have joined so far, and i'd love to get people from all over the world to join up!

I saw Blackalicious at the Knitting Factory last night. I'd never seen them before and wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but the set was great and I look forward to hearing more of them in the future. I only got to hear one of the opening acts - the Life Savers - who were equally impressive.

Promotion, Promotion, Promotion...and making new friends.

From tonight until October 5th, when the album I have been working on for over a year is finally released, I am going to tell the story of each song from the album. Out of respect to those who are annoyed by me on here, I am not going to post every freaking song in every community. Just tonight, then maybe one next week. Please, everyone, add me as your friend and I will likewise do the same with you. In my own personal journal, I am going to tell all 17 stories...

I want to make friends, connections, lovers, and comrades all over the U.S., and all over the world. In the last year LJ has helped me grow so much. Thanks everyone. Without further ado, the night I have been waiting for...to unveil my new songs...

    THE STORY OF "Remembering"
Much of ?America Is Lonely Tonight? deals with my shady internet dealings. Of the many many boys I met from online, perhaps only one or two really tugged on those good old heart strings. One of those was this boy named David. And ironically enough, the whole time he was really in my world, I completely took him for granted. We went to clubs, he paid for me. We went out to dinner, he paid for me. He was sleeping in my bed waiting for me, and I was downstairs chatting to other guys on the net. He was also there for a very important day of my life?the day I bought Marianne Faithfull?s ?Broken English.? Buying that cd opened my eyes to music again. After being taken granted enough, David hit the highway. And by the time, a year later, I realized what I lost, it was too much too late. This is a song for anyone who let that special one go?

    Remembering
    -written by Jeremy Gloff
-appears on America Is Lonely Tonight (2001)
You always gave the safest hugs
    When I was a hurricane
    So it?s not masculine
    To crave protection and restraint
    To lay in bed
And dive into the way we?d breathe
    It never bothered me
    When you?d leave
    Remembering?

You were always ten miles from me
I never tried to reel you in
    The constant search
    For something better
Distracts the calms we could be in.
    To sit across from you
And need no words at all.
The scope of all my dreaming
    Made you small.
    Remembering?

    You danced alone?my eyes spread
    You slept alone?in my bed
You said you?d pay?I get you back next time
Well I paid?cause there never was a next time?

    So we didn?t capture it
    With our no attention spans
And your ghost is in my sheets
But I feel nothing in my hands
    One?s chasing one becomes invisible
One never knows just what to do
    Remembering you?
