Today is the day I really begin to believe we have a team here in the DC area. Spring training game one!
NY Mets vs. Washington Nationals at Space Coast Stadium (the Nats' Spring home)...
What's nice is that the Nats have put together a decent ball club. Not great, but pretty good.
Of course, we don't get to see the entire club until later in the spring.... but today should be fun!

1:55 pm - Finally....
The Game Room (adult link) website and all of it's satellite sites are up and running again. I am looking for new hosting and hoping to migrate the sites to a new host sometime in the coming months...any ideas?
Requirements are that I need about 15-20 GB of storage, and effectively unlimited bandwidth (which is what I have now). Any ideas, please let me know.

Well, progress is being made. The "Please Stand By" screen is up, and one of the smaller sites is up, Perils of Desiree ( http://www.perilsofdesiree.com ) -- Adult site!
I also uploaded the model pages and will be uploading the links in a bit. Then it's back to getting the rest of them all up.
About half way there... it's coming along...

My adult site's server is down, the hard drive failed after the yo-yos at the hosting company did a conversion of the power cabling. God only knows what they really did.

From the people who thought it'd be a good thing to sell Chevy Novas in South America ( No va in Spannish translates to "It doesn't go") comes the JCPenney Valentine's Day ad campaign for 2005... featured are red and pink boxes, happy couples trading gifts and balloons.
All to the tune of Nena's "99 Red Balloons". A catchy song, sure, but still...
I guess nothing says "I love you" more than a song about the nuclear destruction of civilization as we know it.
Sometimes I have to wonder if the folks who pick the songs for these things actually listen to them...

6:32 pm - That didn't take long, Part two...
Well, it's now been 2 1/2 days since I posted the first galleries of Isobel, Ester and Roxxxy on the Adult Site, and for the three ladies, there have been 37 sales... Isobel has 18, Ester has 13, and Roxxxy has 6.
More amazement, the sales have almost paid for 6% of the cost of the shoots already. At this rate, the shoots will be paid for by March. I will probably need to put up more galleries between now and then...

That's not the Argh part.... I get home and a number of things have been knocked over in the basement, inlcluding these two 8 foot tall towers where we store our DVDs and CDs. Clearly it wasn't theft since we have an alarm system and there was nothing wrong on that, and I suspect it was the cats.....grrrrrrrrrrr.

11:42 am - Sick of being sick...
I hate this...
I want to be healthy, really. I was sick 3 weeks ago, and now, I'm sick again. My doctor prescribed Augmentin for me. 875 mg of anti-biotic yumminess in an inch long, half inch wide pill. (Although for a pill that size it goes down pretty easily). Plus, I get to take that Mucinex stuff to clear my head and such, and that works like... well, like I used to be able to before this. Damn, I can feel it drying me out... of course, it says to take it with a lot of fluids, otherwise the body ends up dehydrated right quick.
Gotta take the anti-biotic for 2 weeks, twice a day. I'm gonna be able to kill germs that are in other people's bodies!
I am feeling a bunch better this morning, though, so hopefully all will be well. I do have to go into the office tomorrow, as we're interviewing someone for a job on the team I am on. I know the guy, and he is qualified for the position. I'm hoping we can get him to join us.

10:01 am - Snow Update...
Well, we ended up with about 6 inches. Enough to make shoveling no fun, but at the same time not enough to do a photoshoot where we bury the model in the snow (slowly, one shovelful at a time...). That, and with the wind, there's no way anyone is going out there at all.
Today, it is 13 degrees and there is a lot of wind. Some of the snow has drifted back onto where I shoveled, but there's no point in clearing it today since the wind will blow it back. That can wait until tomorrow after work. Just need a broom to do that.
Ah well, guess I'll stay here and watch football. Predictions:
Falcons 14, Eagles 7 - Atlanta runs the ball better than anyone, and it will be very important here.
Patriots 17, Steelers 10 - Nothing against the Steelers, but Brady and co. always find a way to win games like this one...

Glad LJ is back for the most part. Suppose any of the power issues were related to the acquisition?
Probably not, but I bet there's at least one conspiracy person out there campaigning about that...
As for me, I've been busy. Yesterday was a 12 hour shoot, including using the pendulum. ;) I was intending to use it with one model, but one of the ladies who was up there posing for Sadistic Entertainment saw the set up and asked if she could pose under it as well. So I have 2 sets of photos (and some video!) of two different ladies straining under a swinging pendulum...
Now before you worry, there is no chance of the thing slipping as it was mounted on a photo backdrop pole, and the backdrops easily weigh more than the pendulum (which is not all that heavy.)
Hope everyone is having a great long weekend, and I hope that everyone gives some time to think about why this is a long weekend... :)

10:00 am - Sick....
Ugh... on or about the 2nd, I caught a virus, and ended up not feeling well Sunday and Monday of this week. I did go to the Dr. Monday (it was my scheduled Blood Pressure appt.) and she told me to get some rest, which I did. I woke up Tuesday and my wife looked at me and said "You're not going to work." I must have looked as miserable as I felt. Yesterday I thought I felt well enough to get back to civilization so I went into the office. Did a full day...but today, here I am, with some other body aches and now a full blown congestion. :-/
I really, really hate this. I was getting better, but I rushed it. Grrr on me...

8:57 am - Car Trouble...
The Monte Carlo went in today as the Engine Check light came on. Hopefully it will be a minor repair. It's under warranty minor or major (My extended warranty runs out at 75,000, the car is at 73400 or so...)
I sure hope it can be fixed.
Meanwhile, I'm driving a 2005 Monte Carlo rental in its place. Nice car, just doesn't have the NASCAR spoiler in the back like mine does. :)

UPDATE: Just heard from the dealership, all the repairs are approved under the warranty. :) Yay! There wasn't much doubt, but until GM says they are, there's always that question...

More good stuff: My stepdaughter gets home today from Texas! Yay!
The car and I are both scheduled for check up son the 3rd of January. The car goes in at 8 AM for it's 75,000 mile issues (it's about 1000 miles early, but there is something hesitating in the engine and it loses power dramatically on upward inclines...) At noon, I have my semi-annual blood pressure check. I may need to rent a car for the day from Enterprise to deal with all this... Ugh.
Oh yeah, I need to buy crickets today for my stepdaughter's pet toad...

Today there've been a few sales on the Adult site, all of them bought by one person looking for "drowning" scenes (we don't really drown models, ya know!) Did a couple of shoots this week. No more shoots until a big one at Exotic Photography on the 15th. Three new ladies at that shoot, along with Desiree...
I need a new something-a-day calendar for my office. My mom got me an Atkins one, but for the office it needs to be a silly calendar. I'm thinking I'll wait until after New Years when they go on sale. I also need to get a calendar for my wife for her office. (A monthly page calendar!)
Oh yeah, they're delivering groceries tonight...

1:16 pm - Once in awhile...
Every once in awhile, I can take pride in the company I work with/for. Today is one of those days.
In 2003, our company's office in Northern Va. raised about $20,000 for the "Relay for Life" a cancer cure charity. A nice sum that certainly helped them out.
At the beginning of the year the folks here who do the organizing for the charity set a goal of a 25% for 2004, meaning $25,000.
Today they announced that they raised for 2004: $55,000 (not a misprint). Not only did they meet the goal, they doubled it and then some. :)
I certainly helped out, as did a lot of us. So, today, I've got some good karma going, I think, as do a lot of folks here...

Well, it's now the 26th here in the East. Hope everyone had a great Xmas. :)
Of course, this means my time off is almost over. I'm back in the office on Monday (although it should be a pretty easy schedule for the week). I also have photoshoots scheduled for Monday and Tuesday (and this being the week between Xmas and New Years, sales for the website (Adult Link!) should be great. Last year sales were incredible...)
And... I got a Washington Nationals cap for Xmas. Envy me. :D

11:07 pm - No Florida for me...
Well, the best laid plans...
Anyway, my wife and I are still here in DC, and will be for most of the holiday, as opposed to heading to Ft. Lauderdale. Our flight which was supposed to leave at 8 PM, is not scheduled to leave until 11:30 PM (if it leaves at all) and that would get it into Ft. Lauderdale at around 2 AM. This would make me a zombie, and I'd probably be of no use to anyone for most of Friday, so it'd be a wasted trip for me, since I was scheduled to come home Sunday.
Instead, my wife is flying down there to be with her family on the 26th, staying for 4.5 days, returning on the 30th. I need to be back at the office on the 27th, so I can't join her for that... oy.
Of course, there was a slight charge to adjust her ticket.... $7. Gotta love Southwest Airlines. Glad there is one airline that knows how to run a business and keep customers happy.
And they cheerfully refunded what they could from my flight (one leg of my trip was non-refundable) and gave me a credit for the rest that I have to use between now and November. It will get used.
Anyway, that's the news from here... Happy holidays everyone.

7:48 pm - (Finally!) Here come the Nationals!
Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig issued the following statement today regarding the legislation passed by the Council of the District of Columbia today:
"Major League Baseball is pleased that the Council of the District of Columbia today approved legislation consistent with the terms of our original agreement to have Washington as a home for Major League Baseball."
"The sunset amendment to the original legislation initiated last week was a critical issue because it changed the transaction and did not commit the government to the financing agreed to in the stadium agreement. With the city once again assuring financing as well as continuing to agree to split the costs with MLB on damages incurred by moving into a new stadium after the target date, we can now focus our attention on bringing baseball back to Washington this coming season. To that end, the club may now resume its business and promotional activities."

10:54 pm - Well, we survived...
... a weekend with many relatives (including my mother). I wish holidays involved less travelling, but alas the only relatives that I have in this area are my wonderful wife and wonderful step-daughter.
Next year though, we are driving up and back. We have to drive about 50 miles to get to the airport here in DC, and then 100 miles from Providence airport to the hotel. In between is 3-4 hours in airport 1, flight, baggage claim, rental car (don't get me started about *bleeping* Budget Rent-a-Car. Never again!). In the time it takes us to go through all this, from Baltimore to Providence, we could drive up there. It probably saves us 1 hour in the end.
Now when we go to Fla. later this coming week, that's different. Flying makes a heckuva lot more sense, as it's 16 hours to drive to my sister-in-law's in Boca...
It still doesn't mean I have to like flying. I hate it. Always will.

Well, the good news is that I am off my 9-5 job until the 27th. I love the holidays in that there's time to relax and take it easy....not.
Today, our family is flying to Providence, followed by a long drive to Cape Cod for my family's Xmas weekend. Flying back Sunday. This is ok, except that my mother will be there... Oy.
On Tuesday my step daughter goes to Texas to be with her dad for the holidays... :( Wish she was staying with us.
On Thursday, J and I are heading to Florida to be with her sister for the holidays. :) That is always fun!
On Sunday, I fly back alone so that I can get back to work on Monday...
On Thursday the 30th, both J and my stepdaughter fly home.
So let's see: 12/17, 12/19, 12/21, 12/23, 12/26 and 12/30 I'll be at Baltimore-Washington Intl. Airport (we native-Marylanders call it BWI).
I should take up residence there.... ;)
