My question isn't answered here, how can I get more help?
I forgot my user name and password
You can find your user name and password by going to this page. We'll email you a reminder; make sure a spam filter doesn't catch it.
I can't see full Premium articles
If you're not logged in then you'll need to do so through this page. If you need a user name and/or password reminder, please go to this page and we'll mail a log in reminder to the e-mail address that you gave us when you subscribed.
If you're already logged in then you may be encountering a problem with your cookies. Can you make sure that you haven't turned cookies off in your browser? If you have, Salon Premium won't work.
Internet Explorer (depending on the version and operating system that you're using):
- Look under Tools | Internet Options | Security | Custom Level and click the Enable buttons under the Cookies section.
- Look under Tools | Internet Options | Privacy and either move the bar all the way to the bottom until you see a "Accept All Cookies" setting or select the Edit button and enter www.salon.com and click OK
- Look under Edit | Preferences | Receiving Files | Cookies and select the option next to the wording "When receiving cookies" that says "Never Ask"
In most versions of Netscape, look under Edit | Preferences | Advanced or Security or Privacy and select "Accept all cookies."
For Safari on a Macintosh, go to Safari | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Cookies and then choose "Always" or "Enable all cookies," and click the "OK" button.
For Mozilla on most platforms, look in Edit | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Cookies and choose "Enable all cookies", then click "OK".
In Firefox, check the Tools menu, click Options, look in the Privacy menu for Cookies, and check Allow Sites to Set Cookies.
In Opera, look under File | Preferences | Privacy.
If you're certain that cookies are enabled, keep in mind that if you are selectively allowing cookies from our site, you'll need to specifically allow cookies from the following two domains:
www.salon.com (the obvious one)
sub.salon.com (the not-so-obvious one)
This is because some browsers will not recognize "sub.salon.com" as belonging to the same "originating domain" as "www.salon.com", even though the root domain is in fact the same.
Please also make sure that you're visiting http://www.salon.com
instead of one of our older addresses like http://salon.com or http://www.salonmagazine.com.
Please also check that the system time and date on your computer are correct.
If you still can't access the premium content, try logging out by following this link and then log back in again through this link.
It's also possible that your browser cached an old page, so hit the reload or refresh button on your browser.
If that doesn't work for you, then please e-mail us with a detailed description of what's going wrong, including any error messages you see, your operating system, and your browser, and we'll get back to you within two working days.

The first thing to check is that you're using the correct log in information. Please get your log in information e-mailed to you by using this page and confirm that you're entering the correct information into your PDA.
If that doesn't work for you can you clean out your cache and cookies on your hand held by logging into your account at http://my.avantgo.com. Click on My Account and select Advanced controls. Click on the Clear Cache button, click on the Clear Authorization Information button, click on the Clear Cookies button and sync your device and then try to log in again through a truncated Salon article on your hand held and hot sync.
If that's not working can you check your forms manager by following these instructions?
Once you've done that try logging in again and hot syncing. If you're still encountering problems can you make sure that your AvantGo software on your desktop computer is configured to accept by secure connections by finding your AvantGo program, selecting AvantGo Connect, selecting the Servers tab and then under Properties make sure that your software is set to use secure protocols.
Then select the Connection tab and make sure that your settings are correct. Normally this will mean that your software is set not to use a proxy server, if it is set to use a proxy server make sure that it's set up to use SSL.
If you are still unable to login through your PDA, please try our insecure login page. You can find a link to that page above the login fields on a truncated Salon article on your PDA.
