Evening Update on Gannett Cuts -- and Response Earlier today we started drawing on the Gannett Blog (not connected to the company) run by Jim Hopkins which has become a sounding board/bulletin board this since Tuesday as the expected, massive company staff cuts have slowly rolled out. 'Several Cities' Could Have No Daily Paper As Soon As 2010, Credit Rater Says Newspaper and newspaper groups are likely to default on their debt and go out of business next year -- leaving "several cities" with no daily newspaper at all, Fitch Ratings says in a report on media released Wednesday.- December 03, 2008 10:55 AM ET
Alex Taylor Named 'Palm Beach (Fla.) Post' Publisher Alex Taylor has been appointed publisher of The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post. Taylor most recently served as publisher of The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colo. Doug Franklin, who most recently was the Post's publisher, is leaving to take a top position in a restructuring at parent company Cox Enterprises Inc.
Rebecca Snoddy Named Asst. Controller at 'Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch' Rebecca Snoddy has been named assistant controller for the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch. Previously, she was an accounting manager for the newspaper. Before that, she was the accounts payable supervisor at Media General. Snoddy succeeds Jonathan Edwards.
