CA-Gov: Poizner Book Causes Firestorm
Republican gubernatorial hopeful Steve Poizner is under fire from school officials and students regarding comments he made in a forthcoming book, Mount Pleasant. Poizner, who spent a semester as a guest teacher at the school in 2002-2003, offered a derogatory nickname for the school, ”Mount Pregnant.” Students and teachers are outraged by the candidate’s attack on the school. NBC-affiliate in the Bay Area, NBC11, spoke with students and administrators at the school.

President Obama Signs Healthcare Reform
President Barack Obama signed healthcare reform into law on Monday morning. The President delivered remarks about the nation’s struggle for healthcare reform since the days of the Teddy Roosevelt administration one hundred years ago, and the immediate benefits of the legislation he was about to sign. At the signing, the President was surrounded by Vice President Joe Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

House Passes Landmark Healthcare Reform
Culminating over a year’s debate, and 100 years of trying, the House passed landmark healthcare reform, 219-212, after several hours of floor debate and procedural motions made by House Republicans to slow the process. Healthcare reform heads to President Barack Obama’s desk for signature.
The House also passed ”fixes” to the Senate bill as well as student loan reforms.

CA-Sen: Steel, Former CRP Chair and RNCer, Trashes Campbell
Shawn Steel, a former California Republican Party chairman and currently a RNC National Committeeman, trashed Republican Senatorial hopeful Tom Campbell and his alleged associations with Sami al-Arian in a post published on the conservative Flash Report. Steel’s comments are just the latest in a series of conservative attacks on Campbell’s foreign policy that influenced the former lawmaker’s strategy in last week’s debate.

CA-Gov: Whitman Dodges Questions at Press Event
Meg Whitman’s gubernatorial campaign called together the media for to cover her face-to-face meeting with Union Pacific Railroad, a big-time corporate donor to her gubernatorial campaign. The assembled press attempted to ask questions at the end of the media but rebuked by the Whitman campaign, even forcing out the press in the most politically damaging way possible. The video from CBS’ local coverage is worth the watch.
