Roll Auburn's Nick Fairley Now -Why Wait?

I didn't realize the dirtiness that happend during last week's Georgia - Auburn game because I didn't have video access until now. Here's the thing - after watching last week's Auburn game and the way that Nick Fairley clearly went after Georgia's quarterback to cause injury should make anyone sick. It's not like it's anything new to Auburn, though... because they've been a bunch of cheap bastards over the years. (Look up chop blocks somewhere and you'll find Auburn right in there, eh?)

Every down of the game, there are moves on the offensive and defensive lines that would allow you to shred another guy's knees. Everyone knows that, but they don't do it, because it leads to retribution, and a level of disrespect and a level of play that shouldn't be allowed.

I played mostly offensive guard. I did some things I'm not proud of, but I can tell you straight out that if I saw that tape of Fairley, I'd roll his legs the first chance I got rather than let him beat up my quarterback like he did against Georgia.

There's cheap, and then there's a reaction. And that's the part we're not supposed to talk about - that reaction. And I'm suppose to be a nice writer here, and not say what I really think, which is -

screw you, Nick Fairley, I hope you never see the the NFL because you don't deserve to play the game any more than you already have.

53% of the US will get the Huskers game at Texas A&M.; There will be no "reverse mirror" as ESPN and ESPN2 (Oklahoma vs. Baylor) both have other games. Everything east of the continental divide (other than ACC territory) will get the Husker game, including even New England.

Fox outdbid ABC/ESPN for the rights to televise the Big Ten championship game for the next six seasons. Aside from the Cotton Bowl, Fox does not televise any college football games on their broadcast network. Fox's FSN cable networks televise the Big XII games, and the Big Ten Network is a joint venture between Fox and the Big Ten.

Revisiting the 2010 Texas A&M; Aggies

It's the tale of two seasons for the Texas A&M Aggies. One month ago, the Aggies had lost three games in a row, and were sitting at 3-3 on the season.  But against Kansas, Mike Sherman experimented by moving Ryan Tannehill back to quarterback from wide receiver, sending preseason all-Big XII quarterback Jerrod Johnson to the bench.

And BOOM went the Aggies offense.  Since then, the Aggies have won four straight, punctuated by a 33-19 upset of Oklahoma two weeks ago. All this despite losing running back Christine Michael to a broken leg. Cyrus Gray has picked up the load at running back with four straight 100-yard performances.  Last week, he scored four touchdowns in the Aggies 42-30 comeback victory against Baylor.  As expected, wide receivers Jeff Fuller and Ryan Swope lead the Aggies receiving corps, each with 61 catches this season and combining for 15 touchdowns (11 for Fuller).

The Aggie defense isn't back to "Wrecking Crew" level just yet, but they're significantly improved from last season. Linebacker Michael Hodges leads the Aggies in tackles with 84 this season. Von Miller is having a quieter season, but still is a playmaker, earning conference player of the week honors for his performance against Baylor last week. Trent Hunter leads the secondary with 45 tackles, but watch out for Dustin Harris and Coryell Judie who each have three interceptions.

Certainly this game looks a lot more challenging for the Huskers to me now than it did one month ago, let alone last summer. The Aggies offense is hitting on all cylinders, and the defense is playing better. This matchup seems to be similar to Oklahoma State, though the Cowboys seem to be stronger across the board than the Aggies.  The difference maker might be the health of quarterback Taylor Martinez. If Martinez is closer to full speed than he was last week, this is a game Nebraska should win, provided they play as we expect them to play on the road.

After the jump, a look back at our preseason preview of the Aggies.

Just read in the Lincoln Journal-Star that former Husker assistant coach Dan Young has a cancerous brain tumor and it is inoperable. Milt Tenopir said "I just have a big 'ol heartache for him."

Husker Nation feels the same way. Pray for Coach Young.

Well, the obvious candidate would be Texas..but we already knew that... So we're looking elsewhere. This week, the candidates are a little harder to find, but we'll press forward because that's what we do here.

Fumble again???? Arggghhhh!!!

I don't have a lot interesting to say about this week's game (a great way to start an article, right?) because when I went to review it on my in-laws DirecTV system, it had already been deleted because apparently those pricks think that you should never be allowed to watch a game again once you've watched it. Kind of convinced me I'll never buy their product.

I've been deer hunting. I shot a whitetail buck on Sunday, one shot - one kill, exploding it's heart with my .270. My joke, "I didn't shoot it, I exploded it's heart with my mind".

For the first time, my license allowed a doe, but my shooting was just bloody awful on this one.
