Watch: Toronto 'Christians' Pray in Front of Gay Couple's House and Neighbors Drive Them Out

Toronto

Torontoist posted this video of a prayer group from Highfield Road Gospel Hall in the Dundas and Greenwood area of Toronto that apparently prays outside the homes of regularly harasses gay and lesbian couples.

The videographer, resident Geoffrey Skelding, writes:

"This is a group from a church at the end of my street. Apparently they have been grouping in front of a gay couple's house and reading their bible loudly for the past 7 years. They may have also driven a lesbian couple from the area as well by doing the same thing. Tonight most of our neighbours came out and were successful in getting them to leave. The people who go to that church don't even live in our area! Police came by shortly thereafter."

Says one worshiper in the clip: "We have an authority to preach the gospel. We've been doing this seven years."

Judge Blocks Federal Funding of Stem Cell Research

Back in March 2009, Obama signed an executive order reversing a policy put in place by George W. Bush which limited federal funding for stem cell research. A federal judge has now blocked that order:

Stemcell "U.S. Chief District Court Judge Royce Lamberth in Washington ruled that government funding for embryonic stem-cell research was barred by a law that prohibits the use of federal money for research in which an embryo is destroyed. Lamberth said Congress clearly intended to bar federal funding of research involving embryo destruction, and added, "This Court is bound to apply the law as it is written." The judge rejected the Obama administration's argument that embryonic stem-cell research itself did not result in the destruction of embryos."

'Ex-Gay' Group Exodus International Desperate for Cash?

1248805465-chambersgayface Alan Chambers, president of 'ex-gay' group Exodus International, which promises its followers the bogus deal of "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ," has asked its followers to pray for the group, because they have no cash:

"Dear friends, please pray for us at Exodus. We have experienced an unexpectedly low giving season this summer coupled with much higher expenses (insurance, utilities, etc). Sadly, we have had to let several staff go. Your prayers are appreciated. For those who are also having to endure this unfriendly economy, our prayers are with you!"
