Why does the US military commander in Baghdad hate Dick Cheney?
Apparently, Mr. Cheney was caught lying by our senior military brass. The last throes of the insurgency have been much exaggerated. Surprise.

From today's NYT:
When the resolution passed Monday - by voice vote, so that lawmakers did not have to go on record - 20 senators had yet to become co-sponsors or sign their names to a placard expressing support. By week's end, with liberal bloggers selling T-shirts ("My senator went to Washington ... and all I got was a lousy lynching") listing the missing signatories, the number had dwindled to eight, all Republicans. In case we have any NYT visitors curious about the tshirts, these are they (and you can buy them here).

Bush's snide comments helped hard-liners win more votes in Iran
That's our boy. Say something stupid and help "the evil ones" get even more power. Kind of like Iraq actually, you intervened there and now we have Al Qaeda THERE to deal with. And he's done such great work on the economy and the deficit.
Yeah, he's a regular goldfinger, this guy. Read More......

Don Sherwood Votes Again for the Ten Commandments
GOP Hypocrisy at its finest one more time.
Republican Congressman Don "The Choker" Sherwood, who is being sued by his long-time girlfriend, voted this week for an amendment by John Hostettler (a real nut job, btw) to show support for the Ten Commandments.
Sherwood has been married for 33 years. His girlfriend says they've been together since 1999.
What a fraud.
Don, you should read the Ten Commandments...especially the one about ADULTERY.
Wonder how many of the other hypocrites in Congress voted to support a document which they are actually violating? Read More......

Editor & Publisher blasts Wash Post, MSM over Bush's "joke" about WMD
UPDATE: Duh. Here's the real link, sorry about that.
Excellent column by Greg Mitchell, the editor of Editor & Publisher magazine. He talks about Bush's infamous joke about not finding WMD in Iraq ("are they hiding here?!" he says, looking behind a curtain). He compares that to the Wash Post's Dana Milbank finding it funny that a mother of a dead American soldier who died in Iraq testified before a House hearing this past week.
Read Greg's column, and feel free to email it around. Also make special note of the letter at the end that he received from a mom whose son is shipping out soon. Read More......

Stephanopoulos asks Condi about DSM
Ooh, he mentioned the Downing Street Memo in his intro, and then asked her about it directly. And she basically refused to even mention the memo, didn't undercut it, didn't even mention it. And Stephanopoulos, in classic MSM journalism, didn't follow up, didn't say "uh, mam, you didn't answer the question," nothing. These guys honestly think journalism is asking one question and not following up, no matter what the other guy says. Amazing.

Hagel: We're losing in Iraq
Wow. Wolf Blitzer just asked Condi Rice about this quote from Hagel in US News and World Report:
Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel is angry. He's upset about the more than 1,700 U.S. soldiers killed and nearly 13,000 wounded in Iraq. He's also aggravated by the continued string of sunny assessments from the Bush administration, such as Vice President Dick Cheney's recent remark that the insurgency is in its "last throes." "Things aren't getting better; they're getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality," Hagel tells U.S. News. "It's like they're just making it up as they go along. The reality is that we're losing in Iraq."From her garbled non-response, I think she was telling us that the insurgency just makes good t.v. -- so it's the media's fault. Read More......

Don't worry, only 68,000 credit card accounts at risk
Who does PR for MasterCard? Somehow they think that 68,000 is an acceptable number but considering the fact that the loss of 40 million accounts happened around a month ago, I'm not entirely sure I would believe anything that these people are saying. And that pesky little problem of identity theft? No worries at all. Just relax bebcause the same brilliant bunch that lost your data is on the case. Apparently they also have a "tracking system" that noticed unusual transactions.
Uh huh, great. Radical thought here, but there are plenty of solutions out there these days that notice unusual transactions in real-time and not after the fact so maybe it's time to jump into 2005. Not always an easy task though down in Georgia where our good old pal Ralph Reed is running for office. Read More......

Open thread - Just saw Batman
I thought it rocked. Good acting, interesting plot, nice special effects, and an overall interesting take on the story. I won't divulge any details, but I really liked it. It was a much more serious approach to the movie, a la Tim Burton's earlier version (though not very Tim Burton). But I liked the sadder, darker tone. Anyway, I liked it (though another friend got bored, so who knows).
