Another open thread, and a request

Ok, so I was on a conference call we had with Howard Dean today. BlogPac, of which I'm on the advisory committee, hosted the call. We're having them with most, if not all, of the DNC chair contenders. And it's been very interesting. I got the Dean call, all half hour of it, on tape, and have a 24meg MP3 of it. But I can't post it here, it's just too big. Anyone have suggestions what to do with this so folks can listen to it? Anyone willing to host it, break it up, etc.?

Thanks, JOHN Read More......

Let's play... find the black person

UPDATE: The local media has picked up on the story. Apparently he's a really good cop, but for the fact he's a flaming bigot. Wonder how he'd handle a hate crime case?

Oh. You lose! That's right, the only black cop you'll find in that photo is the one I digitally inserted. (To be fair, the guy in the third row from the top, second from the right, could be black or Latino, though he could just as easily be Italian (pronounced Eye-talian). Regardless, the sheriff's letter speaks for itself.)

This is a photo of the Marshall County, Alabama Sheriff Department. ItAffectsYou.org recently discovered that the Sheriff has a very nice open letter on the county's Web site talking about how gloriously wonderful the 40s and 50s were in Alabama, when men were men, women were women, and homosexuals were an abomination.

Oh, so not kidding.

His letter got me wondering how he feels about blacks, since he thinks the 40s and 50s in Alabama were such a pristine time. So if you scroll down, you see that nice picture of the Sheriff Department staff. Not a lot of black people in that photo, though I dare say I saw a few abominations.

I'm sensing the need for a Justice Dept investigation. Maybe we can get one of those homosexual activist lawyers there to help us? :-)

Here are some snippets from the letter:
I am proud to be an American and that I was fortunate enough to be born in Alabama. The state that has its motto "We dare defend our rights". I was raised in era, the 1940's as a child and the 1950's as a teenager, which I remember with great affection.

During this era, love of God, family, and country abounded. Men were men and women were women and there was no mistaking which was which. Both were proud of their individual roles. Homosexuality was very queer and a despicable act… an abomination.
(Can you say: Trent Lott? Sure, I knew you could.)

Feel free to give Sheriff Mac Holcomb a piece of your mind. Oh, and be sure to ask him why there aren't more people of color in the photo.

Sheriff: Mac Holcomb

Heeeeeee's Baaaaaaaack...

Gary Condit, that is.

Good God.

And guess what?

He's hemming and hawing and weaseling his words, again.

It's been four years now and the man is still acting like he's hiding something. And he wonders why Dominick Dunne thought he might be involved in Chandra's disappearance.

Go away.

And PS. Even old women in remote provinces of India believe you had sex with Chandra, so who exactly are you protecting by not coming clean and putting an end to this behavior that makes you look awfully guilty of something? Just asking. Read More......

The gifts just keep on coming

Now the fundies are pissed that the Secret Service is banning large-scale crosses from the inaugural festivities. The SS says that they're trying to ban large structures that could hold weapons, but the religious right points out, correctly in fact, that the Bush protection squad didn't say ban all crosses, Stars of David, crescents and buddhas. They signled out crosses.

I have an "in all fairness to the Secret Service" point that I was ready to make, but you know what, Bush is an ass, I'm not going to give him any advice on how to get out of this one.

SHOCKING NEWS ALERT: WMD Research team finds nothing in Iraq

I was so confident that they would find something since we had all of those fancy satellite photos and documents. Our brave, heroic, honest leaders certainly would not have put their reputation on the line and invade a country and lie about it. After all, how could a group of good Christians attack and kill tens of thousands of Iraqis based on a lie?

Go figure. Well, the WMD search team is now wrapping up their mission and coming home but don't let that deter you from enjoying the Exxon-Mobil/GE/Dell/Halliburton-sponsored Presidential Inauguration. Please plan your own at-home party to celebrate and try not thinking about the disastor over in Iraq and all of those dead people. Think of the freedom...oh yea, and the oil.
