The July / August 2010 issue of World Literature Today features a tribute to Sherman as the 2010 Puterbaugh Fellow, which includes an interview and essays on his work. Sherman's poems, "Crow Book" and "Small Ceremonies" are also included. You can read a limited sample online. Columbia College Chicago's Court Green poetry journal includes Sherman's poems "All in the Family" and "Roll, Baby, Roll" in the "Dossier: 1970s" section of the journal - a poetic tribute to the 70s. The Winter/Spring 2010 issue of Cave Wall includes Sherman's poem "Valediction." Sherman's sevenlings from Mudlark were chosen as an online poetry highlight of the last five years, posted on eScene43. Smoke Signals will play on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel in May as part of a series of films presented and introduced by Professor Hanay Geiogamah, director of the American Indian Studies Center at UCLA. The films and introductions will explore a different topic each night. War Dances wins the 2010 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, America's largest peer-juried prize for fiction. The poem first appeared in Hanging Loose 56 and was reprinted in The Business of Fancydancing, his first book. Sherman is the recipient of the Native Writers’ Circle of the Selected Shorts features an hour with Sherman, broadcast during the week of February 25, 2010 - March 3, 2010. Students in a law class at Absegami High School in Galloway, NJ, inspired by the death of a dog named Oscar in True Diary, have formed Project OSCAR – Our Students Contributing to Animal Rescue – which will raise money for vaccinations for dogs in needy areas.
