Off to bed soon, big day tomorrow - heading to Atlanta to speak on a blogging panel at CNN's big annual conference they're having. Should be interesting, though I hear Anderson Cooper isn't flying in until after I leave :-( Read More......

Toledo Blade on Political Implications of Ohio GOP Coin-Gate

I don't know what the vote in France means either. However, I do agree with today's Toledo Blade article, "Noe coin controversy may be costly to GOP: Past scandals have led to change in Columbus." The Blade provides has a great analysis on the political implications of the "Coin-gate' scandal for the Ohio GOP. And, a scandal that changes the lock the GOP has on Ohio can change America.....of course, this only works if the Democrats rise to the occasion.

If you've been following the scandal, or even if you haven't, it's worth a read. Read More......

French say NON to EU Constitution

I have no idea what this failure means. I've been following the issue, but don't have a clear enough idea of whether this is good or bad. I know Chris in Paris wanted it to fail. I've a feeling this isn't a good thing. Hopefully those of you out there who know more can weigh in in the comments. Read More......

Arlen Specter gets personal on THIS WEEK

Wow. They're talking about stem cells. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), who looks like hell (no hair, sunken cheeks, raspy voice) is letting conservative Senator Sam Brownback really have it. Specter is "going personal" talking about his Hodgkins Lymphoma and how if the war on cancer had gotten the funding it needed and deserved he might not have cancer today.

Brownback then says:
BROWNBACK: George [Stephanopoulos] and Arlen, when did each of your lives begin? When did your life biologically start? And we shouldn't be researching on that life at any time during its continuum unless we have your consent. When did your life start?

SPECTER: Well Sam, I'm a lot more concerned at this point about when my life is gonna end.

General Meyers calls media and civil rights advocates irresponsible

Yes, our top general, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard Meyers thinks our freedom is a threat to our freedom.

Here's what he said about Americans, like us, who are upset about what the US government is doing in Guantanamo, Cuba (from his appearance on Face the Nation, today):
This is about other people that are criticizing operations down there, in what I view, in many cases, an irresponsible way, and relishing the fact that they can put a spotlight on what should not be the debate.
Irresponsible? And "relishing" the fact that you're trashing the Constitution and the Geneva Convention? Thanks for confirming what an un-American jerk you are. Read More......

Joe is off visiting NYC, and I was out having a great dinner at a new (or relatively new) Belgian restaurant in DC. Excellent food, and cool atmosphere (though the posers start smoking a bit much after 11). Read More......
