Mel Gibson has been cut from "The Hangover 2" because the cast was pissed at the notion he'd be in the flick.
TMZ has been hearing about the discontent among cast members all day. We've been told Mel had been cut from the movie.
Warner Bros. went radio silence for most of the day and finally surfaced, saying through director Todd Phillips, "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
Translation -- they 86'd Gibson.

Los Angeles Laker Sasha Vujacic just locked down tennis hottie Maria Sharapova ... proposing marriage to her with a massive engagement rock to rival any Lakers championship ring.
Sources tell TMZ the pair -- who were first spotted holding hands about a year ago -- got engaged Tuesday after Sasha popped the question at his home in Manhattan Beach, CA.
Maria's already been spotted out wearing the ring -- we've seen it and trust us ... even Vanessa Bryant would be impressed by the future Mrs. Vujacic's ginormous diamond.
In completely unrelated news ... Sasha's been on the Lakers' bench recovering from a concussion.

Sources connected with Christina Aguilera tell us she split her lip last week after "a simple fall." As one source said, "It's as innocent as that."
There were reports insinuating there may have been domestic violence between Christina and Jordan Bratman, since Christina busted her lip the very same day she filed for divorce.
But as we first reported, there was no domestic violence. Christina just fell on her own.
Case closed.

Oksana Grigorieva just lost her motion to keep the L.A. County Sheriff's Department away from the stuff in her computer ... in connection with the extortion investigation.
The judge told Oksana, "For me to begin to limit law enforcement functions in the investigation is premature at this time ... therefore this motion is denied."
Oksana's team was visibly upset with the decision.
The Sheriff's Department wants full access to O.G.'s computer, to determine if there's evidence she tried to extort Mel Gibson.
The judge complimented Daniel Horowitz on his "tenacity" but the Sheriff's Department was the clear winner.
The Sheriff's Dept. told Judge Gordon it hasn't even begun looking at the material in the computer. Investigators are trying to convert the material into a viewable format.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department has filed legal docs obtained by TMZ ... indicating Oksana Grigorieva may well be prosecuted for extortion.
The docs -- opposing Oksana's motion to limit the Sheriff's access to material in her computer -- state, "Evidence obtained from the Hard Drive would be used in a forthcoming criminal prosecution when Detective Wagner's findings are presented to the District Attorney's Office."
In opposing Oksana's motion, the Sheriff's Department claims it needs to do a thorough search of Oksana's computer because, "It is common for evidence to be found on a suspect's computer and hidden or mis-labeled in a particular computer file."
Arguments on the search warrant will be heard today at 1:30 PM PT, and we'll be there.

The pics circulating showing Christina Aguilera with a cut lip are not evidence of domestic violence ... TMZ has learned.
Stories are circulating suggesting Christina and hubby Jordan Bratman may have gotten into a domestic squabble and that's why her lip was cut. But sources directly connected with the couple tell us it was not DV.
The pics were taken October 14 at Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood. TMZ broke the story ... Christina filed for divorce the very same day. But it wasn't in any way connected with the injury.

Oksana Grigorieva and her lawyer just lashed out at her former bodyguard, claiming he's a liar and claims that he had an intimate relationship with her are "ridiculous."
Oksana and attorney Daniel Horowitz spoke with TMZ at the downtown L.A. civil courthouse, where Horowitz called bodyguard Kristian Herzog "Half blackmailer, and half psychopath."
Oksana says, "He betrayed me," referring to our story that Herzog is writing a tell-all book, claiming he had an intimate relationship with her.
Horowitz says Herzog is a "complete liar," who got the job by lying and saying he was Jack Nicholson's bodyguard.
Oksana also said Herzog, a convicted felon who served jail time for gun-related charges, has "never been around Lucia" and she is obeying the court order to keep him away from the baby.
Oksana added, "I don't speak to him either. I don't communicate with him ... I follow the court orders."

Cops just swarmed in on Jesse James' ex-wife Janine Lindemulder after she unloaded on a paparazzo ... outside of the courthouse in Orange County.
It all went down as Janine was entering court for a child custody hearing -- as several photogs followed her and snapped pics.
But it all came to a violent head once Janine got into an elevator -- and one photog got too close. Janine -- who was holding a warm drink in her hand -- swung at the photog, dousing him in liquid .. and sending him reeling backwards into a wall.
O.C. Sheriff's deputies moved in -- and are currently questioning Janine about the incident. The photog is on the way to the hospital.

Billy Ray Cyrus -- a member of the Parents Television Council Advisory Board -- is upset with the Council's statement that the smoking hot "Glee" photos published in GQ are borderline pedophilia.
Sources connected with Billy Ray tell TMZ ... the singer is "disappointed" at the statement from Council Prez Tim Winter. We're told Billy Ray feels like the Council "has recently been spending all its time attacking people rather than promoting family television."
The Council has also attacked Miley Cyrus for a sexy music video she recently shot. Papa Cyrus -- who we're told was not consulted before Winter issued his statement -- is getting "fed up with the Council."
