NOM's Maggie Gallagher is in Maine for meeting arranged by Catholic Bishop

Jesse Connolly, the campaign manager for No on 1/Protect Maine Equality has a post up at DailyKos (a recommended post, no less), titled, The Road to Marriage Equality Leads through Maine." That's true. We know it. And, the gay-haters know it, too.

Via Jeremy Hooper, we learn that the Bishop of Maine has invited one of the nation's leading homophobes to Maine tonight. Yes, the Bishop of Maine really is scraping the bottom of the anti-gay barrel for allies in his anti-gay quest. According to Jeremy, who is masterful at finding these things, Maggie Gallagher is "appearing tonight at a 'private meeting for Catholic clergy' at the request of Bishop Malone." (One wonders how many of the clergy at this meeting are gay. Chances are, it's quite a few.)

The Bishop of Maine is approaching people to raise money for some kind of church reserve fund. Money is tight for the Catholics up there. But, I hear his obsession with the anti-gay agenda is hurting that outreach, at least in some cases.

Who's the bishop inviting next? The President-Prophet of the Mormon Church? Or maybe he can cozy up to James Dobson or Pat Robertson?

If you haven't given to No on 1/Protect Maine Equality, let this be your inspiration. We can't let the haters win this time. Our ActBlue page is here. Read More...

These consequences are not hypothetical - they have already occurred in states like Massachusetts where homosexual marriage has been legalized.
Hmm. We now know that one consequence in Massachusetts is that the divorce rate decreased. That should make the Catholic Church happy. But, nothing stands in the way of their gay-bashing. Nothing. Read More...
