Right. I think the more people get to know a person, the less that becomes an issue. It’s interesting. In Arizona when I first ran for public office, that’s when the rumors were going around, and of course I’m sure they go around now.
In 2002, during your gubernatorial campaign, you publicly denied rumors that you were a lesbian.

NYT asks Sec. Janet Napolitano about lesbian rumors
Some intriguing questions for Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano from the NY Times Magazine. The Times' introduction of the piece states, "The secretary of homeland security talks about the Obama administration’s first 9/11 anniversary." But, she talked about more than homeland security. Interestingly, Deborah Solomon chose to ask about Napolitano about her sexual orientation and who she is dating. And, also interesting how Napolitano answered:

Ohio Senate Candidate Jennifer Brunner on her support for marriage equality
For the past couple days, I was at Netroots Nation in Pittsburgh. I was invited to speak with many candidates and incumbents, some on-the-record, some not.
Jennifer Brunner is currently the Secretary of State in Ohio. She's running for be the Democratic nominee for the Senate seat being vacated by George Voinovich. She's supports marriage equality.
If I hear from Brunner's opponent in the primary, Lee Fisher (who is currently the Lieutenant Governor), that he supports marriage equality, I'll post that, too. Read More...
