Chicago Trib editor backs up Kerry's story about Vietnam

A Chicago Tribune editor who was on the Vietnam mission for which John Kerry received the Silver Star is backing up Kerry's account of the incident.

It's beginning to worry me that we're spending this much time debating this stupid issue. It has a bit of a "have you stopped beating your wife" taste to it, meaning, no matter how you respond you're screwed. I do think that Kerry has successfully proven that Bush's henchmen are behind this, and that the charges are lies. But nevertheless, we ought to change topics to something worth discussing, like Bush being responsible for nearly 1000 unnecessary American deaths in Iraq. Now that's a topic worthy of debate.

Man fired for heckling Bush - feel free to contact his company

AP is reporting that Glen Hiller, a graphic designer in Maryland, was fired from his job for heckling Bush at a political rally. I've had it with these pro-Bush Nazis thinking they can ruin the career of every single American who happens to disagree with Der Fuhrer George. It is possible to be a patriotic American employee who just so happens to dislike the president. At least it was until this president took power.

Feel free to contact Hiller's company, Octavo Designs, about their decision:

GOP Convention pulling in the stars!

If you loved Herbie the Lovebug and Pat Boone, hold on to your hats! Talk about star power, wow! As if it won't be enough listening to Gov. Schwarzenegger play the SNL character who played him (what a scream! "girlie men") the RNC will dazzle the crowds with the hot sounds of Travis Tritt and the Gatlin Brothers. Are they with it or not? Groovy! Rumor has it that they're also negotiating with a few others and have been calling a few names on this A-list. I'm putting my money on Russell Johnson, Ron Palillo or Erin Murhpy. Whew! Who knew they could pull like this?!!

Bush accepted money from guy behind racist anti-Kerry ad

ROONEY, J. PATRICK MR.
9/5/2003 $2,000.00
INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46278
RETIRED -[Contribution]
BUSH-CHENEY '04 INC
(source: FECInfo.com)

We should demand they return the check.

Slate dug up more info on Mr. Rooney, the man behind the racist anti-Kerry ads. He's a white guy, and he and his family and employees have given over $5m to the GOP.

Good thing he's not rich and white like Mrs. Kerry (and Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney). Oh, wait a minute, he is. Read More......

Bush surrogates launch racist ad

I'm sorry, but I need to add something to Chris' post below about the new Bush surrogate ads attacking Mrs. Kerry. They're not just nasty, they're racist. Read this:
One commercial says: "Our community doesn't need another wishy-washy, rich, white politician. And boy, does Kerry come across as rich, white and wishy-washy." Another says: "His wife says she's an African American. While technically true, I don' t believe a white woman, raised in Africa, surrounded by servants qualifies." Referring to Heinz Kerry, newspaper ads ask: "African-American? Or elitist, rich and white?"
Ok, that ad is racist. It's also beyond the pale of personal attacks. Bush should be out there immediately denouncing this ad, apologizing to Mrs. Kerry, and apologizing to the black community for, once again, trying to suppress their vote.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the one thing you can say for Mrs. Heinz-Kerry vs. Laura Bush, at least Mrs. Kerry never killed anybody. Read More......

What was Bush doing in 1971?

If the slimeballs want to start running another ad about Kerry in 1971 Congressional testimony, let's have an open discussion about Bush as John mentions below. What exactly was Bush doing in 1971? Was he stable enough to blow coke? Was he stable enough to pound booze and get arrested? Was he wetting his pants and sucking his thumb hiding in a bunker in the Midwest while the Mayor of NY was on TV trying to calm Americans after a terrorist attack? Oh sorry, that was on September 11, 2001. Maybe he was a little too stable on that day.

Republicans smear Teresa Heinz Kerry in ads targeting black voters

What's revolting about the ads is that they aren't even trying to attract black voters but just turn them off from the campaign. Giving themselves the name "People of Color United" is such a fraud, especially when you look at the list of attendees who will be at the RNC. Besides Heinz Kerry not even being a candidate, pointing the finger at her for being elitist and rich is pretty funny considering they are supporting Bush.

Another Democrat on US watch list

Like Ted Kennedy, Rep. John Lewis of Georgia has also run into problems at airports. Besides the fact that he's another Democrat, what is amazing is that it appears to be quite easy to get around these watch lists with a few minor changes, such as inserting your middle initial or adding a title such as "Dr." to your name and credit card. For all of the trouble it causes people like Kennedy and Lewis, you have to wonder how this impacts someone who really is up to something and who has just a little bit of creativity.
