The Amargosa Conservancy is pleased to offer outings and talks in and about the beautiful Amargosa River Valley of California and Nevada. It is an area with unparalleled scenic beauty that is also home to a world-class array of diverse wildlife, plants, and important historic sites.
Pupfish Introduction
Pupfish have ancient origins, unusual habitat, and a very precarious existence in this most arid region of the southwestern United States. However, pupfish are extremely adaptable to their habitat, resulting in many variations in the species depending upon their location.
The Timbisha Shoshone
The Timbisha Shoshone Tribe consists of close to 300 tribal members, 30 to 35 of whom reside in the Timbisha Indian Village. The General Council is the governing body of the tribe, which consists of all tribal members age 16 years of age and older.
