I remember some of these episodes from my childhood. Every sitcom seemed to go off the rails for their “very special episodes” but these took it to the extreme. I guess traumatizing the kids at home got sitcom writers a nice bonus check back then.

This was super tasteful. But also, I kind of wish NBC News began all their announcements with “This is not a joke…” (NBC's Twitter, via @rcbth)

A 22-year-old transient attacked an elderly, wheelchair-bound man in a Hooters parking lot in Florida yesterday, telling him “I am a vampire, I am going to eat you,” before ripping bite-sized chunks out of his face and arm. The Smoking Gun reports that when questioned by the police, “she was unable to tell officers what had transpired outside the shuttered restaurant. Nor could she explain what had happened to her pants or why her panties were at her ankles.”
I'm going to point the finger of blame at Stephanie Meyer. This kind of shit never went down when Anne Rice was around. (via thesmokinggun.com)

Once reserved for computer programmer tricks and shortcuts, a “Life Hack” has become a great way to describe the clever/brilliant/ridiculous solutions to everyday dilemmas we see posted online. It's hard to describe what a life hack really looks like, but let's just say you know it when you see it. Are these “hacks” truly innovative, or just accidents waiting to happen?

Inevitably setting the scene for an awesome mess, yesterday evening at New York's Fashion's Night Out, Valentino placed a stage and karaoke system at its party. Naturally, Tracy Morgan showed up drunk and sweaty, and performed “With or Without You,” “New York, New York,” and “Killing Me Softly.” Okay, now I forgive him for those homophobic remarks a couple months ago. American Apparel's XL modeling contest ended yesterday. There was a clear leader in the contest, but she was actually making fun of American Apparel's belittling view of plus-sized models. Here are her entry photos. (via styleite.com)

Ever since they released their first single in 2008, New York hip-hop trio Das Racist has focused as much on subversion and surrealism—in lyrics, interviews, the industry, etc.—as fractured, atypical beats. Check out the video premiere for “Michael Jackson,” the lead single off the group's debut album Relax.

As DJ Pauly D was leaving the Fashion's Night Out party at the Kardashian-owned DASH store last night, the huge crowd tried to jump the barricades to get to him, forcing the NYPD to step in. TMZ reports the cops declared the party over, making the Kardashian sisters and all the employees shut down the lights and leave. More details here. (via tmz.com)

As news of a new “credible” threat swept across the nation on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Americans were abruptly reminded that terrorism is always one bad day away from being issue No. 1. However, records show there have been at least 45 jihadist terrorist-attack plots against Americans since 9/11—thwarted by intelligence work, policing, and citizen involvement.

Meet Harley. He's a pug from Rhode Island that's in the running to win the top prize at this year's Hambone Awards. The Hambone Awards honor the most extreme and odd claims from clients of the Veterinary Pet Insurance Company. Previous winners include a Labrador that ate a beehive and an English Bulldog that swallowed 15 baby pacifiers. Harley's accomplishment? Take it away, AP.

This is a fantastic musical number about not wanting to drink ever again. Now as a responsible member of society I have never had this thought cross my mind, but it's actually really well written and performed.
