Wednesday, August 24th in TYT News and Politics Hour

Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs has hired a high profile attorney, which means he is really in trouble with the Justice department and may get prosecuted on criminal charges.  Is a move to gain support from Obama supporters that have grown tired of his complacency with respect to bank practices that caused the 2008 crisis?

The AG of NY, Eric Schneiderman, has been kicked out of the committee looking into the fraud of the major banks because he was actually looking into the fraud of the major banks.  Cenk has several explanations for this dismissal.

Bruce Bartlett presented facts comparing taxes on the wealthy in 1986 to the system today, and the effects on the economy.  The changes in the tax code funneled $1.7 trillion to the pockets of the rich instead of infrastructure improvements and building new opportunities for the country.  Obama is embracing he idea of raising the Medicare retirement age to 67.  More examples of Obama Administration falsely equating the health of Wall Street executives and the big banks with the health of economy in general.  And of course as a result of all these disappointing policies that hurt the working and middle classes, Obama's poll numbers are slipping significantly.

Today's videos include David Axelrod answering Michael Moore's question about whether or not President Obama thinks it's beneficial to keep moving to the Right to no avail.  Rick Perry is now polling as #1 mong the Republican candidates with a double digit lead on Romney.  Perry has proposed getting rid of the income tax altogether, but it's so incredibly absurd, his camp has to back pedal from the position.  Videos of Jon Huntsman going on CNN to go after Mitt Romney and make his case on issues like jobs.  Cenk thinks Huntsman is a serious candidate in 2016 if he can do this and move up the board to #5 in the primary.  Videos of Rep. Hultgren not being able to answer how the Bush Tax Cuts helped the economy.  Carl Lewis received a racially-toned letter from the wife of a New Jersey Assemblyman.  The Assemblyman resigned.

The Day When $$$ Equals Speech

According to the U.S. Supreme Court, that's every day.

The U.S. Supreme Court claims that money is the same thing as speech. And now because of the 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling, huge corporations can spend unlimited amounts of money to influence elections. This decision opened the floodgates for corporate money to drown out the voices of real people in politics.
