A DC Injury Attorney Can Help

Being involved in an accident can leave the victim with physical pain, emotional trauma, and the added burden of financial difficulties. Recovery is often associated with missed work and, as a result, lost wages. Combine a reduced income with a mountain of medical bills, and the injured victim is often unable to focus completely on physical recovery, as he or she should.

A Washington DC injury attorney can help you get the money you need to not only cover your medical expenses and daily living expenses, but also to financially compensate for the pain and suffering you endure as a result of your injuries. Though every personal injury case is different, common damages awarded include medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, reduced earning potential, loss of consortium, and funeral expenses.

When You Need an Experienced DC Accident Lawyer

An unintentional injury is not an unavoidable injury. Many accidental injuries could have been prevented had the responsible party exercised proper caution. Automobile accidents can be prevented if a driver practices safe driving and pays attention to the roadway. Medical malpractice can be avoided if a health care provider delivers a professional standard of care. Premises liability accidents are virtually eliminated when property owners adequately maintain their property or provide appropriate warnings.

When someone fails to act responsibly, he or she can cause or contribute to an accident that can lead to serious personal injury--even death. Though the negligent party may not have intended to cause harm to anyone, he or she could still be held accountable. An experienced Washington DC accident lawyer has the skill and resources to thoroughly investigate your claim to demonstrate a link between another's negligence and your injuries. At Price Benowitz LLP, our attorneys are equipped and ready to handle your personal injury claim. We are committed to getting our clients the compensation they deserve and need for the fullest recovery.

Product Liability and Your Family

We are all taught from a young age to have a healthy fear of fire. It begins with simple lessons about the stove, leads to exclamations of the word "HOT" and extends to Smoky the Bear (Only you can prevent forest fire!). These lessons get more intricate as our education progresses. In elementary school we teach our kids to "Stop, Drop & Roll" and call 911 if you smell smoke. These lessons are meant to keep our kids safe.

As I now look on the news and see coverage of house fires and wild fires, that same healthy fear turns to sadness. All too often we hear of houses set on fire as families slept because of unsafe products. It saddens me to hear that the products these families purchased and the companies they allowed into their homes cause this level of damage, leaving ashes in their wake.

Tort Reform and Personal Injury

My husband and I often avoid political debates but one that we did have in a sort of spirited way was about tort reform. My hubby thought that maybe limiting the legal liability of doctors would lower the overall cost of healthcare in America. I understand his misconception and how in a recession that is an ideal that you would want to hold strong to. However, I also see the other side...

As a lawyer, I see people that have hundreds of thousands of dollars in actual medical bills caused by a doctor's negligence. Those people with the real injuries and damages are the people that tort reform hurts. They would be hurt once by the mistake of the doctor and a second time by society's failure to provide them with adequate recourse.

Virginia Personal Injury Cases and Investigation

Virginia Personal Injury Lawyer.jpg
Be the most prepared person in the room. This should be a credo of all attorneys, but it is especially true in the life of a Virginia personal injury attorney. Litigation in the courtroom is the final step of a long journey. This journey begins with the injury and there may be a significant interlude while the injured person is treated, recovers, and rehabilitates back to the full spectrum of normal life activities. Because of this potential for an interlude while recovery happens and long-term prognosis is assessed, Virginia law allows for a two year statute of limitations from the date of injury, or in malpractice actions, the date of reasonable discovery of the error.
