Drought Contingency Plan
Beginning July 1, 2011 the City of Midland will invoke the Drought Contingency Plan. West Texas is facing an extreme drought and water resources must be conserved.

City of Midland Culture Committee
The City of Midland formed a Culture Committee in January 2010 that was designed to bring together a diverse group of employees representing all departments. The committee initially focused on rediscovering the Council’s vision and creating a Mission Statement, which incorporated the City’s values and guiding principles. Click here to read more.

Midland’s Sales Tax Revenue History

Fair Housing
The Community Development (CD) Office mission is to carry out the City's program of housing and community development for its target neighborhoods. The primary function is implementation of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and conducting its housing programs. Click here for more information on Fair Housing.

MLK Renovations
The Martin Luther King Junior Community Center is currently undergoing renovations. The design of the project began in late summer 2009. The City of Midland’s bidding process was completed in early summer 2010, with construction began in September 2010. We estimate the construction phase to last nine months, giving an estimated project completion in the summer of 2011.

Introducing the City of Midland Vendor Self Service System (VSS)
Effective Wednesday, 9/1/10, the City of Midland Purchasing Division will begin using the Vendor Self Service (VSS) system to register and maintain vendor accounts.  All vendors who wish to conduct business with the City will be required to update and maintain all information used for the notification and issuance of payment in the VSS system.

The City of Midland tops the list of Best Cities to Do Business.  Inc.com’s 2008 list ranks Midland as #1 in overall cities as well as #1 in the small cities category.  The rating takes into consideration recent growth trends, employment data, educational and health services, retail and wholesale trade, transportation, utilities, leisure, hospitality, and government.
