Fox’s Cashin’ In Endorses Perry’s Idea To Suspend All Regulations

Breathing dirty air or uninspected food? No problem for several of the Fox News regulars of Cashin’ In, part of the Saturday morning “business block” line up on August 20, 2011. Host Cheryl Casone called Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry’s idea to suspend all federal regulations for six months an “interesting idea.” When that “interesting idea” was challenged by guest Christian Dorsey, who suggested that breathing clean air and eating safe food were beneficial to society, Casone dismissed the concern by saying you can always sue if there’s arsenic in your Big Mac. Seriously.

Outfoxed By Democratic Governor O’Malley, “Liberal” Van Susteren Leaps To Defend Republicans

“Liberal” Greta Van Susteren obviously got more than she bargained – or was prepared for – during an interview with Maryland’s Democratic governor, Martin O’Malley Wednesday night (8/10/11). O’Malley was there to discuss how his state's sound financial footing might be threatened by the federal government's credit downgrade. But when O’Malley seized the framing of the conversation and insisted on making calm, civil but pointed criticisms of Republicans and their policies, Van Susteren couldn’t handle it. I think it’s crucial that Democrats who go on Fox seize control of the agenda just this way. For that, O’Malley is our latest Top Dog.

Despite Cavuto's Best Efforts, Dennis Kucinich Argues For Investing in America

On Saturday’s Cost of Freedom Special (8/6/11), Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) debated with Neil Cavuto about the jobs crisis. Kucinich argued that we need more investment in America. Cavuto interrupted at every turn but Kucinich persevered and got his points across forcefully. For that, he’s a Top Dog. UPDATE: Video has been added.

Erica Payne Challenges Fox News’ War On The Unemployed

Our newest Top Dog is Erica Payne of the Agenda Project. Payne was on The O’Reilly Factor last night discussing unemployment insurance, i.e. Fox News’ push to reduce same. Even “liberal” Juan Williams, the guest host, pushed the idea that those receiving unemployment benefits were sitting around on the taxpayers’ dime when they could be working at lower-paying jobs. It was no surprise given that Williams opened the segment by “asking,” “Have American liberals run out of credible solutions to fix this economy?” Payne did a terrific job, not just of arguing her position, but on pushing back against the “Let them work at McDonald’s and stop soaking the rich" mentality.

Rep. Becerra Pushes Back On Fox’s “Cut, Cut, Cut Entitlements” Meme

Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA) did a great job discussing the deficit and pushing back on the “need” to cut entitlements in response. He’s a News Hounds Top Dog. He not only got his message across loud and clear without shouting or belligerence, he refused to allow Cavuto to interrupt him. You could see Cavuto doing his best not to lose his temper at being smacked down so politely.
