IAVA Applauds Passage of Jobs Bill for Veterans in the House

In the News IAVA applauded the House of Representatives today for passing the Veteran Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act (H.R. 2433), introduced by Republican House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller of Florida. The bill will require programs to assist the transition from military to civilian life, strengthen job protections for deployed service members and help military personnel acquire civilian certifications.

Update: The Debt Deal's Impact for Troops, Veterans and Military Families

Legislative Dispatches Update 8/4 10:00 AM On Tuesday afternoon, the President signed into law a bipartisan deal to address the deficit and avert a default; however, the Pentagon could face $900 billion in cuts over the next 10 years as part of the agreement. IAVA will continue to track in the coming days on the impact these cuts might have for service members and military families.
