You've done it! You've listened to our pleas and came through for community radio. You helped us reach the $5,000 dollar goal by the deadline of September 1.
What a marvelous feat. All of us at KSKQ are excited that you helped us unlock the additional $5,000 dollars promised by a generous anonymous donor. With the funds at hand now, we are working hard to get a permanent electrical connection to our transmitter.
Yesterday, nineteen volunteers jackhammered, pickaxed and shoveled to dig the trench for the grounding ring and the trench to connect to the transformer. Today, work continues at the same pace. With the end of summer nearing, we have to move fast.
If you've been listening, you know we've made progress with our signal stability. We stabilized the mast in Ashland and realigned the microwave dishes. It's not perfect yet, but we are getting there. Thanks for hanging in with us as we make community radio happen.
Listening to KSKQ is easy. There are four ways to enjoy community radio goodness:
Just click the play button below.
Click the "Listen Now" option in the menu bar above. That link will automatically start your music program--iTunes on Apple computers and either iTunes or Winamp on Windows computers. iTunes is installed on all Apple computers. If you don't have a music program on your Windows computer, download either iTunes or Winamp. Once the link has been added to your music player, there's no need to click "Listen Now" again. Just start and stop the stream in your music program.
Tune your radio dial to 89.5 and listen over the air. If your reception is not optimal you can attach an antenna to your radio at home to improve its reception. Check out this little tutorial for making your own antenna from community station WRYR in Maryland.
Listen to KSKQ on your iPhone or iPad using the exclusive KSKQ player developed by John Fricker. Navigate to the App Store on your device and download the free player.
NOTE: If option 2 does not work for you, try these troubleshooting ideas: open your music program (iTunes or Winamp), search for KSKQ. If you find the entry, just select it, click "Play" and you are set.
If KSKQ does not show up in iTunes, try this solution: Start iTunes, select the "Advanced" option from the menu, then select "Open Audio Stream…" A new window will open. Copy this text "http://audio1.kskq.org:8080/listen.m3u" into the window and click OK. That should get the stream started.
